Reborn To Love - Chapter 235 Woman At Night
Chapter 235 Woman At Night Her eyes narrowed as she looked up and stared at the corner of the computer screen.
“The cake. . . I figured it out!”
“What?” Besides Gu Yechen, who was calmly playing around with her hair, everyone else immediately looked up at her in curiosity.
“Look here!” He Xinyan turned the computer around so everyone can see, “Look at the cake. Right here, at the very corner. The entire cake is looking good except right here, which is smudged.”
Indeed, the very corner of the second layer of the cake was broken, and you could see the light brown color of the cake sheet as the whipped cream had been smudged off.
“That is where the knife was placed. And the person standing there was the worker that pushed the cake in!”
He Xinyan’s smile widened as she spoke, “That was why I thought someone was missing! Everyone is here except that worker who pushed the cake in! When the lights were turned off and reopened, the time was less than a minute.”
He Xinyan turned the recording back a few seconds, “When the lights were turned off, the worker grabbed the knife and killed the person as fast as he could. Right after, he quickly left. In the dark, he must have accidentally bumped into the cake so the corner is missing some cream.”
She pressed play on the recording again and they watched as the cake was pushed in the worker stood right next to it the entire time.
When the lights were turned off, they couldn’t see anything so of course they couldn’t actually see if the worker had murdered someone. However, that wasn’t important.
Everyone focused on the worker, who was wearing a white chef’s outfit, a white chef’s hat, and a mask that covered up most of his face.
The entire time he was inside the room, he had his head slightly turned down, so it made it even harder to get a look at his face.
“If we already know that it is the hotel’s chef, then we can just go interrogate all of the chefs in the hotel.” Qin Lai spoke up.
However, Lawyer Qu Fei shook his head, “It is clear that this person isn’t actually a worker in the hotel. He is pretending.”
“. . . Then what do we do?” Qin Lai frowned.
He Xinyan looked at the video clip one more time before pausing the recording, “You guys can go home for now. Since we already know who the murderer might be, we don’t have to be so rushed and anxious now.”
Gu Yebei and everyone else in the room looked towards Gu Yechen.
Gu Yechen nodded his head, “Go home. If you really have nothing to do, then you can go to the hotel and ask if anyone saw any suspicious people or things.”
What did ‘have nothing to do’ mean? They all had a ton of things to do!
They were only here because Gu Yechen was caught in a murder case, and that was more important than any other thing. Of course, they had to put down any work on their hands and come over to handle this matter regarding their ‘big brother’.
One by one, everyone in the room left and returned home.
—
Only Gu Yechen and He Xinyan were left inside the living room.
He Xinyan still stared intently at the computer screen, rewatching the video recording several times, stopping at the scene of when the cake was pushed in.
“Baby.”
“Hm?” He Xinyan responded instinctively although she didn’t even look up after hearing Gu Yechen.
Gu Yechen glanced at the video recording with a cold expression before reaching out and closing the computer screen.
“What are you doing?” He Xinyan furrowed her eyebrows together and looked up.
“You didn’t even rest for long enough since yesterday. Go rest a little.”
He Xinyan frowned, “No, I’m not tired.” She reached out to open the computer again, but Gu Yechen’s hand firmly pressed it shut.
Gu Yechen found his heart softened slightly thinking about how He Xinyan was doing this because she was worried about him, and he let go of the computer, wrapping both of his arms around her tiny waist.
“Let’s go to sleep. I’m tired.”
He Xinyan looked back at him after hearing his soft and gentle voice, “Um. . .”
After several seconds, she finally nodded her head, “Okay.”
At once, Gu Yechen lifted He Xinyan off of her feet and up the stairs, ignoring her words of shock.
He carried her all the way into the bedroom before gently placing her onto the bed.
Then, he put one leg over his body and leaned down, resting one hand on the bed so he was right on top of her.
He Xinyan didn’t dare look into his eyes from this intimate angle, and she pouted as she looked away.
“Baby, I think you might have short-term memory loss.” Gu Yechen said in his very deep and sexy voice.
“What?! I do not!” He Xinyan looked straight into Gu Yechen’s eyes angrily, “Her?! Short-term memory loss?! No way! She had a great memory!”
Gu Yechen grinned as he ran his fingers down the side of He Xinyan’s cheek, “Then do you remember that you said a few hours ago that you are my woman at night?”
It took a few seconds for He Xinyan to finally remember what he was talking about, “I. . .”
She only said that to calm the angry lion down back then so he wouldn’t pounce on her with all those people around. Who knew he would actually remember that?!
“That begins after our marriage.” He Xinyan admitted that her way of thinking was very traditional and conservative, however, she wanted to stand by her morals.
She believed that going to bed with a man was a very, very important experience for a woman. Not only the first time, but every single time was very important and it should be a special experience, not something to be taken lightly.
Although He Xinyan knew that Gu Yechen would be the man he would want to spend the rest of her life with, she still wanted to wait until marriage.
She wanted it to feel special and she hoped that Gu Yechen would respect her decision.
Seeing the certainty in He Xinyan’s eyes, Gu Yechen obviously wouldn’t force her to do things she didn’t want to.
He gently patted her on the head and pressed down, resting his elbow onto the soft blanket.
“Mm. . .” He Xinyan moaned softly as her lips were blocked by his.
This only made his kissing more aggressive as he pushed his tongue into her mouth. She placed her hands onto his firm and fine waist, beginning to return his passionate kiss.
After a long time, Gu Yechen finally let go, leaving He Xinyan gasping for air.
“I’m going to go take a shower.” He kissed her one last time on the forehead before disappearing into the bathroom, turning on the water.
Cold water.
— The Gu Mansion
Wang Yani sat down on the bed at night and made a phone call. She had to call several times before the other end finally picked up.
“Why did it take you so long to pick up?!” She said angrily.
“I. . . I -”
“Whatever! How did it go? Is she dead?” Wang Yani raised one eyebrow. There was no way she would let a woman like He Xinyan marry her best grandson.
Or else, why had she spent so much time raising Gu Kexin and putting so much effort into her? Even if Wang Yani knew that she wasn’t going to live for much longer, she still wanted to be able to see her grandson marry the person she wanted him to marry, and hopefully be able to be alive when they have kids.
Nothing could stop her. Including He Xinyan.
“Well. . .” The male voice on the other side of the phone stuttered and was weirdly soft, “I. . . I might have made a mistake.”
“A mistake?!” Wang Yani narrowed her eyes. She had thought long and hard to come up with the perfect time and location to carry out her plan. How could he make a mistake?! She was certain to tell him exactly what to do and who to kill!
Wang Yani tried to maintain calm as she asked, “What mistake?”
“I. . . I killed the wrong person.”
“WHAT?!” Wang Yani jumped up from the bed, and maybe it was because her action was a little too large and fast, but she felt her head spin slightly as she slowly sat back down, placing one hand over her chest as she felt a slight pain there.
“How could that happen?! How did that happen? Who did you kill?”
There were several seconds of silence as the man on the other side of the phone didn’t dare speak.
“Hurry up and tell me!”
“. . . Well, the lights were turned off and it was very dark, and I couldn’t see. I was certain! I was certain she was standing there! There was no way I miscalculated! However, however. . . Apparently, I had stabbed the wrong person. I. . . I killed. . .”
Wang Yani placed one hand over her forehead, “Who did you kill?”
“I killed. . . I killed your. . . your. . . the birthday girl, Gu Kexin.”
Wang Yani’s eyes widened and before she could even respond, she felt her vision blur and the next second, she had fainted onto the bed.
