Reborn To Love - Chapter 237 Meeting Wang Yani
Chapter 237 Meeting Wang Yani He Xinyan shook her head as she unbuckled the seatbelt, “I’ll go with you.”
The two of them walked into the hospital and quickly found Wang Yani’s hospital room. The surgery had just finished and although it was successful, Wang Yani’s body was still very weak. . . Or one could stay, on the verge of death.
Wang Yani was very old already, and no matter how good her body was, no person as old as her could still stay strong and healthy after suffering from a severe heart attack.
Besides, it took several hours before she was finally brought to the hospital, so it is a miracle that she is still alive after the surgery.
Gu Yechen and He Xinyan stopped in front of the VVIP private hospital room on the top floor of the hospital, and they immediately saw the group of people sitting outside the room.
The butler stood up when he saw Gu Yechen, and his expression changed slightly when he also saw He Xinyan walking next to Gu Yechen.
Several members of the Gu family were present, and the ones who weren’t were on their way here.
After all, no one believed that Wang Yani could still survive after this. Everyone was certain that she was about to die, and they obviously all wanted to come to hear the will and get their share of the inheritance.
In a family like this, no one actually genuinely cared about Wang Yani. They only respected her because she was the eldest and they had to, and they only came because they wanted their share of her belongings.
Gu Kexin was probably the one that cared for Wang Yani the most out of the entire Gu family, but she was dead now. Even so, Gu Kexin probably only treated Wang Yani so well because Gu Kexin knew she had to cling to Wang Yani in order to stay strong inside the Gu family.
They all turned around when they heard footsteps and several people stood up when they saw Gu Yechen.
“How is my grandma?” Gu Yechen asked the butler coldly.
“Young Master Gu, the old master just finished her surgery. She still hasn’t woken up yet.”
Gu Yechen nodded his head as he pulled He Xinyan over to the line of chairs outside the room. They sat down on two empty spots, ignoring the stares they were receiving from the people around them.
Several people frowned when they saw that Gu Yechen had also brought He Xinyan over. They weren’t even married yet, and even if they were, she was still an outsider!
Why did she come over here?! Plus, they all knew perfectly well that Wang Yani did not like He Xinyan. How could she be so shameless to follow Gu Yechen here?
Although many people were thinking the same thing, no one said anything.
Without greeting each other or Gu Yechen, everyone sat back down in silence.
One by one, more and more members of the Gu family arrived until everyone was here.
Gu Hanyu also arrived but Xu Mengya didn’t come because she was sleeping already and Gu Hanyu didn’t want her to be tired by coming over for this.
After about an hour, a nurse finally came out from the room and announced:
“The old master has woken up!”
At once, everyone sitting on the chairs jumped up and several of them ran over to the nurse.
“Really? Can we go in?” Gu Yechen’s third aunt asked.
The nurse nodded her head, “Yes, but it is best to not have too many in the room at the same time. And, do not stay or talk for too long. The old master is very weak and her health is. . .”
The nurse stopped speaking as she looked down.
Of course, no one truly cared about the old master’s health. Gu Yechen’s third aunt turned back to look at her husband and waved him over.
However, Gu Hanyu also stood up.
“As the eldest son, I should go in first.” Without waiting for the other people’s consent, Gu Hanyu walked straight past his brothers and their wives and straight into the room.
The third uncle’s wife’s mouth opened angrily but she couldn’t say anything because Gu Hanyu was indeed the oldest after Wang Yani in the family.
In reality, Gu Hanyu didn’t actually really care if he went in first or last. However, his little wife was still waiting for him at home! Of course, he can’t stay too long. So, it would be best for him to hurry up and get out of him.
After a few minutes, Gu Hanyu walked out of the room with a calm expression and left the hospital without saying anything.
Next, Gu Yechen’s second uncle, his wife, and their kids entered the room. They came out just as quickly as Gu Hanyu did, but they went back to their seats and sat down.
Gu Yechen’s second aunt’s eyes were red already and once she left the room, tears began falling down her face. She lifted her hand up to her mouth to cover the noise so Wang Yani wouldn’t hear.
He Xinyan watched her with a complicated expression. Who knew how real and genuine those tears were?
Then, Gu Yechen’s third uncle, his wife, and his daughter entered the room. Gu Zihao was nowhere to be seen and He Xinyan suddenly remembered that Gu Zihao was also present during the birthday party.
After Gu Kexin died, his reaction wasn’t like she had expected. . .
They spent a few minutes longer than Gu Hanyu and the second uncle’s family did, and when they came out, the daughter was crying loudly.
Finally, Gu Yechen and He Xinyan stood up.
Gu Yechen grabbed onto He Xinyan’s arm and began walking towards the room, but He Xinyan stayed rooted at the spot.
Gu Yechen turned around and raised one eyebrow.
“I’m not going to go in. You can go alone.” He Xinyan smiled and waved Gu Yechen off. She was not a nice person, but she wasn’t going to be unpleasant and mean enough to go make Wang Yani uncomfortable and angry right before her death.
That would be a little too mean to her.
Gu Yechen stayed silent for a few seconds before he slowly entered the hospital room, closing the door behind her.
This was also good. He had some things he needed to talk to Wang Yani about. . . privately.
After he left, all the members of the Gu family stared at He Xinyan with an unpleasant expression, but she ignored them.
Inside the hospital room, the only sound that could be heard was the beeping of the electronic vital sign machine that signified that Wang Yani was still alive.
However, the beeping was unusually slow for a living person.
Wang Yani’s eyes were closed when she heard the door close. She slowly opened them and saw her best grandchild walk into the room.
Her eyelids felt very heavy as she blinked a few times. She opened her mouth but had no strength to say anything.
Gu Yechen couldn’t help but think of why the other Gu family members were crying when Wang Yani couldn’t even say anything to them. Maybe they were crying because she couldn’t say anything. . .
Gu Yechen calmly sat down on the chair next to the bed and interlaced her fingers today, placing them onto his legs.
“Grandma,” he said coldly. There was no hint of warmth inside his warm, almost as if he didn’t care about what was happening right in front of him.
Wang Yani’s breathing turned a little faster and it could be heard against the ventilator.
“Are you okay?” Gu Yechen asked although he knew there was going to be no response.
He slowly nodded his head after several seconds of silence, “I take that as a yes. Good, because I have some things to ask you about.”
Wang Yani slowly looked up at her grandson, her face paler than ever. Only a day ago, she was still living very well, able to walk on her own.
Now, she was laying on the hospital bed motionless, not even able to talk.
This just showed how weak a human was. . . Nothing in the face of death.
Gu Yechen took a deep breath as he looked into Wang Yani’s half-opened eyes, “Gu Kexin died.”
The beeping of the electronic vital sign machine immediately became faster and a little less rhythmical, and Gu Yechen glanced at the monitor before looking down.
“I am guessing that you heard about the news already, and that is why you are where you are right now.” Gu Yechen crossed his legs together and leaned forward, “Grandma, I am very curious. Why would you kill the granddaughter you loved all your life?”
The beeping sound only turned faster and the sound of the breathing also became louder. Wang Yani’s fingers tightened against the white blanket, but she still wasn’t able to respond in any way.
Gu Yechen looked over at the monitor and leaned back again, not wanting to make things worse. However, he still had to say what he needed to say.
“Grandma, you don’t need to lie to me. I know everything already.” Gu Yechen actually did not have any strong evidence that Wang Yani was the one behind it. However, thinking about it carefully, everything pointed to her.
“Your plan was to kill Xinyan, right?”
