Reborn To Love - Chapter 238 Wang Yani's Death
Chapter 238 Wang Yani’s Death ”Your plan was to kill Xinyan, right?”
The beeping suddenly sped up to at least twice the speed of when Gu Yechen first walked in. Wang Yani opened her mouth and a moaning sound came out, but she wasn’t able to make any noise greater than that.
Gu Yechen scoffed, “Did you really think that if Xinyan died, I would listen to you and marry Gu Kexin instead? Grandma, you should know very well that I do not like for others to tell me what to do. Especially things that I don’t want to do. So, even if Xinyan were to die, your plan wouldn’t carry out smoothly.”
Wang Yani closed her eyes for a few seconds before opening them again. However, this time, her eyelids seemed to be even more heavy than before.
“Grandma, I respect you as an elder and my grandmother. However, what you did is unforgivable. You should know perfectly well that what you did was commit murder.”
Wang Yani’s eyes suddenly opened wide and Gu Yechen frowned when he heard the beeping noise become even faster.
“However, I see that you don’t have much time left on this planet anyway. It would be beyond horrid for me to send you into prison now.”
Gu Yechen stood up from the chair and placed his hands into his pant pockets.
“I wish you a pleasant time for the rest of your days,” he said coldly before turning around and leaving the room.
Once he stepped outside, the other members of the Gu family were about to file in again when the nurse blocked the entrance.
“The patient is very weak and just finished her surgery. Please let her have some rest.”
The members of the Gu family reluctantly left the hospital one by one, with Gu Yechen and He Xinyan leaving first.
When they entered the car, He Xinyan immediately asked Gu Yechen what he had talked to Wang Yani about inside the room.
“I just asked her some questions. She is the one behind the murder of. . . Gu Kexin.”
He Xinyan gulped and looked down, “So she was trying to kill me.”
Gu Yechen didn’t respond but the silence gave away his answer.
After several seconds, he said softly, “I’m sorry.”
He Xinyan blinked a few times, “What? Why?”
“It is because of me. . .” Gu Yechen lifted his arm up and gently placed it onto He Xinyan’s head, rubbing it softly, “At least you are still here with me.”
He Xinyan smiled, “You don’t have to be sorry. It isn’t your fault! If it really is someone’s fault, it is Wang Yani’s fault. However, she has had her punishment now.”
He Xinyan grinned softly. Wang Yani attempted to murder her, but not only did she fail, but she also ended up killing her beloved granddaughter and also put her life in jeopardy.
That punishment was more than enough. . .
“And, you saved me!” He Xinyan exclaimed, grabbing onto Gu Yechen’s hand, “If you didn’t push me aside, I might be gone now! So don’t say sorry.”
Gu Yechen smiled and kissed her gently on the forehead, “Let’s go home.”
He started the car and pulled out of the parking spot. However, before they could even leave the parking lot, there was another phone call.
It was a call from the butler, who had stayed at the hospital to watch over Wang Yani.
“Hello?” He said.
“Young Master Gu, did you leave yet?!”
Gu Yechen turned the phone to speaker mode, “No.”
“The old master passed away!”
He Xinyan’s eyes widened in surprise, not expecting Wang Yani’s death to come so quickly. They had just left a minute ago, and the next second, she was dead?!
And, the last person of the Gu family to meet her was Gu Yechen!
On the other hand, Gu Yechen didn’t seem very surprised. When he had left, he had guessed that Wang Yani wouldn’t be able to stay alive for a long time.
From her breathing and heart rate, it was clear that she was barely hanging on to life.
“Okay, I know. I will attend her funeral.” Gu Yechen said, not giving the butler another chance to speak, and hung up.
“You aren’t going to go back to take a look?” He Xinyan asked. The butler must have called to ask Gu Yechen to go back and take a look at the old master, but obviously, Gu Yechen didn’t do things the way others wanted him to.
“No, it’s getting late. Let’s go back and sleep.” Gu Yechen patted He Xinyan’s head gently before driving out of the parking lot and leaving the hospital.
He Xinyan didn’t say anything as she looked out at the night view of the city. She slowly fell asleep as it was very late into the night already.
When they arrived at Gu Yechen’s house, he carried her out of the car and into the house. As he walked up the stairs, he heard a soft murmur.
“Hm?” He said softly, not hearing what He Xinyan had said.
“Ye. . . Yechen. . .”
Gu Yechen grinned as he continued walking up the stairs. As he opened the door, he suddenly heard her voice say very softly, too soft to hear clearly:
“Love you. . . I. . .” It sounded like a cat purring, extremely soft and a little unclear. However, it was enough for Gu Yechen to guess what she was saying.
He froze for a second right in front of the bedroom door before a smile crossed his face as he set her down onto the bed and covered her body up with a blanket.
He sat down next to her and brushed her finger down her hair gently. After a long time, he leaned forward and kissed her softly on the forehead.
“I love you too.”
— Several days later
Wang Yani and Gu Kexin’s funerals were to be held on the same day since they were so close during their lives. All of the members of the Gu family and some other close “friends” were invited.
He Xinyan obviously didn’t receive an invitation and she didn’t plan on attending anyway.
However, as Wang Yani’s grandson, Gu Yechen still attended.
The news of these two people’s deaths spread across the country and it was the first big news of the year.
After the funeral, Gu Yechen returned home in his black suit to find He Xinyan eating a bag of chips while watching the television on the couch.
“How was the funeral?” She asked without looking back, dumping the rest of the chip crumbs into her mouth.
Gu Yechen watched her eat fearlessly and smiled. Good. She should eat more now. In the near future, he was certain she would be going on a diet.
He sat down next to her and pulled her onto his lap, “Good.”
“Hm. . . I wonder how Gu Zihao is dealing with Gu Kexin’s death,” He Xinyan said softly, throwing the chip bag into the trash can.
Gu Yechen’s face immediately darkened, “Why are you thinking about him?”
He Xinyan was a master in sensing the vinegar alert in Gu Yechen by now, and she hugged him tightly, knowing that he was getting jealous, “I don’t care about him! It’s just that he was the only person I got to know in the Gu mansion, and he liked Gu Kexin, so I was wondering. . .”
Gu Yechen wasn’t completely convinced, and he frowned as he said, “He is leaving soon.”
“Leaving? Where?” He Xinyan’s curiosity overtook her, causing Gu Yechen’s frown to deepen some more.
“I don’t know,” he said coldly, looking away with an angry but equally cute expression.
He Xinyan laughed looking at her little jelly, and she lifted her hands up, pinching him on the cheeks, “Aww, look who’s jealous again!”
Gu Yechen pursed his lips out, obviously jealous, “I’m not jealous.”
He Xinyan chuckled, “You do know. I know you know! Tell me! I want to know.”
Gu Yechen glanced at her with an unhappy expression, but his unhappiness immediately disappeared when she leaned forward and kissed him on the mouth.
“I paid! Now tell me. . .” He Xinyan said, shaking Gu Yechen’s arm like a little girl asking for candy.
This time, Gu Yechen happily spoke.
“He decided to go to Country Y for work, and who knows how long he is going to stay there.”
He Xinyan raised one eyebrow. Right after Wang Yani and Gu Kexin’s death, Gu Zihao decides to leave Country Z and not just for a short visit, but for who knows how long.
And based on the recent events and what Gu Yechen told her, she could guess that he was probably not going to come back for quite some time.
Anyone could easily figure out that his decision had something to do with those two people’s death.
He made the right decision. . . Maybe he will be able to grow up more and open up his brain and eyes through this period of time.
He Xinyan sighed and rested her head against Gu Yechen’s shoulder, “That’s good. Did you wish him a safe trip?”
“No.”
He Xinyan: “. . .”
Of course. Why did she even ask?
