Reds Reset - Chapter 157
Time passed with no sign of the Academy staff anywhere. Link lost his patience on the third day as he cussed loudly before flying towards the next City.
Luckily, the map he had, covered a very large part, allowing him to travel without worry. His mind wandered from one thing to another, as he questioned the Academy”s incompetence.
“How could they not come for me?” Link thought “Isn”t that damn emblem supposed to be like a flare signal? How can they ignore it. Those f*cking useless c*nts, i swear when i make my way back i”ll beat the f*ck out of all of them”
Of course Link knew very well that he still was not at the level of causing the Academy harm. He was only a Level 5 Mage, while that rank is very common there.
“Gilda City!” Link remembered the City that was located near the Academy. He started asking about it as he traveled from one place to another, upgrading his Map each time.
Recollection couldn”t take him there, which Link could only assume that he lacked the required Mana for the skill to activate. Meaning he had a long trip ahead of him.
After Lionhart City, Link had no more interest in the Second Continent. Each City he passed looked too uninteresting to him. Even the Rank 6 Mages he met as more Lords or Nobles appeared in his visits, were lacking greatly in Mana compared to him, which meant he could kill them with ease if he wished. This thought made Link look down on the Second Continent, and he now planned to never return.
Gilda City was not a place people recognized. With each place Link visited, he was disappointed with the answers he received. But the respect and care he got from the Nobles and lords was quite satisfying to say the least.
His traveling speed now was in another league compared to when he first started. Flying through the air while using all of his Speed Skills made him look like a jet.
“Thank you for your hospitality” Link smiled at a handsome looking middle aged man. “I”m making my way to a City named Gilda, it would be much appreciated if you could help me find the right way”
“Gilda City?” The man went silent for a minute as he scratched his chin while lost in thought. “Yes, I do recognize the name, Master Mage. I believe it is located near the Great Mountain, correct?” He asked.
Link was unsure of the naming, but the mountain the Academy was located in was something of a giant. It touched the clouds and penetrated the sky. So “Great” would be the term he would use to describe it.
“Yes, Lord Kith” Link looked at the man with bored eyes. He asked the question so many times to so many people. But their response was always the same.
“I don”t believe it is anywhere close, and no map I own would show you its location” Kith said, making Link sigh. “But i believe that i may be able to help point you in the right direction”
Hearing this, Link”s eyes lit up. “Am i going to be able to get back to the Academy?” He thought enthusiastically.
“Our City is famous for The Oracle” Kith explained. “We used its wisdom to get to where we are at, and if not for it, our City would still have been a mediocre Level 1 City. I presume that it may help you find your way”
“Am I going to be pulling tarot cards in some shady place?” Link thought before looking at Kith and smiling. “If it can provide me with the information that i need, i”m more than happy to give it a try”
And like that, Link was led to the back of the castle. Kith, Link and a few guards made their way through the corridors and into a giant garden. A boulder sat in the middle with runic writing all over it. Flowers and trees surrounded it but never got close. Even the grass seemed to be trying to avoid the boulder as it slowly became thinner and brown the closer it got.
“What is that?” Link asked.
“That is The Oracle, Master Mage” Kith said “It is the past, present and future of our City” He spoke with bright eyes. “This way please!”
Kith led Link closer to it, while the guards stood outside of the garden as they faced the other way.
“Oh Great Oracle, Bless your loyal servant with your wisdom” Kith quickly got on his knees as he spoke with emotion. “A traveler lost his way. But found the fortune to appear in your presence, please show mercy and help him find it again”
Link stood behind Kith with a frown. He looked at the boulder, then at the kneeling man in front of him.
“I better not have accidentally dropped in some kind of cult” Link thought.
Kith mumbled some incoherent words before bowing, his head touching the ground for a few seconds.
“Yes” He spoke. “Yes, i understand”
“This motherf*cker talking to the boulder now” Link sighed “Great, i”m lost forever”
Kith stood back up and turned to look at Link. His eyes were bright, while his head had some dirt stuck to the tips of his hair.
“The Oracle wishes for contact” Kith said “It needs to sense and feed on your Mana to test if you were worthy or not” He then stepped to the side, signaling for Link to go ahead.
Link massaged his temples before taking a deep breath and walking over. “I”ll humor him for a bit, than get the f*ck out of here” He thought.
Reaching to the boulder, Link couldn”t help but be nervous. “What if I start talking to boulders too?”
Ting!
The moment Link touched it, all the runes on its body lit up as he felt a suction force pulling a chunk of Mana from his body. It happened in an instance and Link failed to stop it. The light slowly dimmed after a while, and a Ball of Light rose from it, starting to fly away.
“I believe that you should follow it, Master” Kith said “It should lead you to where you asked”
Without hesitation, Link jumped up and followed after the ball of light. If there was a chance that this was real, Link would gladly give it a try. That was way better than aimlessly traveling around, unaware if he was heading in the right way or the complete opposite.
“It”s fast!” Link muttered, seeing the speed at which the Ball of Light flew in. It looked like a blur as it left small holes in the shape of a small ball in each cloud. With Link coming right after, despursing the whole thing.
“So, I was indeed heading the wrong way!” Link commented, seeing the Ball of Light heading in a different way.
Days turned into Weeks, and weeks turned into months.
Link did the usual Dungeon as he traveled in the same direction the Ball of Light did. “Did it return to the boulder?” He wondered.
On the way, as Link followed the Ball. It slowly started fading, losing its light at first before turning into nothing. He worried not though, as now he knows which way to go.
Resupplying at The Cities he saw on his way and raiding a few Dungeons whenever he had time. This was consistent but extremely boring.
He gained a good amount of Mana, while he sold all the useless skills he received like usual. His Level increased and so did his Strength Stat.
