- Chapter 14 Constructing 'Holy Constrictor' Part 2
Despite our current balance of 0 DP, I looked over what was unlocked after successfully reaching DL 20. It seemed that the rate that I would unlock new mobs was dependent on my current DL. The following guides were included on all pages of the DP Market:
——————————————–
[*Dungeon Master Unlocks*]
DL 5 [Basic Unlocks]
DL 10 – 100 [Unlocked Every 10 Levels] (C rank through B rank)
DL 100 – 500 [Unlocked Every 50 Levels] ( B+ rank through A rank)
DL 500 – 1000 [Unlocked Every 100 Levels] (A+ rank through S+ rank)
——————————————–
[*DM Ranks*]
DM1 [DL 1-100]
DM2 [DL 100+]
DM3 [DL 200+]
DM4 [DL300+]
DM5 [DL400+]
DM6 [DL 500+]
DM7 [DL 600+]
DM8 [DL 700+]
DM9 [DL 800+]
DM10 [DL 900+]
——————————————–
Judging by the intervals for which I obtained new ranks, I guessed that being DM 6/DL 500 was a good place to be. By the time I reach DL 500, I would have most of the A-rank mobs unlocked. This would most likely put the dungeon’s classification into the ‘Hard’ category. As I reach towards DM 10/DL 900, the dungeon would slowly become geared towards Experts. The classification, depending on how close to DL 1000 it is, would most likely be Legendary. However, as Orai explained before, I can earn 10,000 DP/day at DL 1000. S-Class items started at 100,000 DP while S+ started at 250,000 DP. To obtain those items was the goal of every single Dungeon Master in existence. However, when a legendary item is brought into Orune, the Gods send prophecies of its existence to all churches in the land. Thus, when Adventurers sent by the church want to obtain the Legendary items, it wouldn’t be strange to see the Dungeon Master risk their lives to protect it. This was what it meant to be a Dungeon Master under the God Of War, Hidarus. The more skilled the Dungeon Master is, the more combat they can expect. This meant that the Dungeon Masters who successfully make it to DL 1000 are given the opportunity to permanently become Demi-Gods. However, not many Dungeon Masters make it that far since the difficulty is so high.
I looked over the complete list of C-rank mobs to see their DL requirements. It seemed that I would be able to obtain every possible C-rank mob by the time I reached DL 50. Similar to the Griffins, some monsters in Orune don’t start out at C or C+. Thus, while I would have access to the over 350+ mobs, I wouldn’t have every single type of mob available. We also have to consider the fact that C-rank mobs aren’t that strong. For example, Young Cerberus [C] is the downgraded version of King Cerberus [S+]. Another example is when we fought the Dire Wolves in our first Dungeon Defense. While the Lightning attack killed the C-rank Dire Wolves, it didn’t kill Obsidian since he was B+. Essentially, C-rank mobs were good ways to test out the creatures before investing more DP into them.
Anyway, upon looking at my favorite list of mobs, I saw that 5 new mobs were added. Since I set the list to only show the highest rank possible, it looked like the following:
——————————————–
(I) Slimes [20 DP]
(I) Elementals [25 DP]
(I) Golems [30 DP]
(R) Orc [25 DP]
(R) Cyclops [30 DP]

“Orai! Look at this! Our list of available mobs was updated! We even got a Cyborg added!”, I said excitedly.
“Cyborg? What’s a cyborg? Is that an exclusive mob you unlocked? Let me see!”, Orai said eagerly.
As Orai came over and looked at the DP Market’s UI, she began to nod her head. As far as I know, there was no entry about a ‘Cyborg’ in the Encyclopedia that Mera made. Since she was the Goddess Of Wisdom, I found the situation strange.
“It seems that your Summoner Specialization is already bearing fruit! You’ll unlock access to mobs that come exclusively from your world! However, they’ll come with a premium price tag based upon their strength. You should also be able to craft them if you figure out what their components are. We’ll have to hire a skilled summoner in D2 when we have the chance. The summoners were the vendors who were offering mobs to us in the streets. They’ll be able to figure out what materials we’ll need for our summoning efforts but we could also try learning it from a book”, Orai said.
Orai and I teleported outside to meet Krotos, who was waiting to start his first day in the Dungeon. However, when we teleported to the entrance, we saw a man with a pair of Griffin wings on his back! He had white hair, yellow eyes, and looked to be 30 years old. He was donning matte black armor with gold accents while his sword was matte black with red accents. When he began to speak, I knew it had to be Krotos.
“Hello, Dungeon Master Jordan! I’m here to fulfill my promise to you! Judging from the sounds I heard earlier, I’m guessing you were remodeling?”, Krotos asked.
“Yes. Thanks to your residence, we had enough DP to build the Dungeon Layout we planned. However, I have to ask this: Why do you look like a human?”, I said.
“Didn’t I already tell you? I’m the 4th son of Apollo! It would be weird if I couldn’t transform! Hahaha! Legendary descendants can do legendary things! Although, I haven’t reached S-rank since I’ve been busy caring for my family. I’m sure I’ll reach it once I fight some strong enemies! However, my family will always come first!”, Krotos said.
“Orai. Did you know about his transformation?”, I whispered.
“Do Legendary Griffins not take on a human form in your world?”, Orai whispered.
The obvious answer to that question was hard no, as I began to open the doors to the Dungeon. Once Krotos laid his eyes on the Giant room at the beginning of the dungeon, he began to smile.
“Welcome to ‘Holy Constrictor’! This is going to be the rest area for the dungeon! I’ll give you a tour while I redeploy the mobs!”, I stated.
As we began to walk through the dungeon and place the mobs, Krotos was smiling the entire time. He began asking questions about the dungeon, which Orai and I answered as best as we could. I followed Briggs’ mob placement advice and noted his suggestions as I placed the mobs in the corridor. Once we got to the end of the first floor, we met up with Briggs and Bose. They were currently finishing the Spike traps for the 25 x 25 room on the left side of the last room. According to the Floor Plan, its purpose was to serve as a decoy treasure room.
“I see we have our Griffin finally going to work! Make sure you don’t step on any traps while you are defending! I’ll make a copy of the trap positions so you can study it”, Briggs said.
“Ha! Please! Like I would be caught in those things you call traps! I’m the 4th son of Apollo! A Dwarf can never beat a Griffin! No matter what!”, Krotos said proudly.
“Dwarves can never beat a Griffin? I see what you need Krotos. You’re misguided in your beliefs. How about we take this to the rest area? We’re both A+ rank, right? Let’s see if your sword moves as fast as your mouth!”, Briggs grinned.
“I like how you think, Briggs! I need to freshen up my sword skills anyway!” Krotos took out his sword, which seemed to be enchanted with a variety of runes. It began to glow once Krotos placed it in his hand. “Being a father has made me a little soft but I think you’ll make good practice”, Krotos grinned.
As Briggs and Krotos began staring at each other intensely, Orai jumped in and put her arms around them both.
“Hey! Let me join you two! I want to train as well! I want to try out my new weapon!”, Orai said eagerly.
As Briggs and Krotos hesitantly walked with Orai to the rest area, Orai looked back towards me.
“Are you coming, Jordan? We can’t start without our Dungeon Master!”, She said.
As Orai, Briggs, and Krotos smiled, I began to realize something important.
The Dungeon started to feel more like home.
A home that kills intruders of course!
