- Chapter 20 Running A Dungeon Part 1
After Krotos dropped Miller off at Ravenscar, we met up and ate dinner with Emily and Ronan. We decided to use this time to not only fill our stomachs but to gather information. After around 2 hours of talking with the adventurers, we offered to do a night patrol of the grassland since we were in the dungeon before them. Since they were exhausted from their travels, they happily agreed to our request. After they wished us good luck on our patrol, we walked outside and instantly teleported back to D1. Krotos subsequently crashed on the couch.
“Ugh. His hand was not as good as I thought. The meat was far too tender and his blood tasted like it was nutritionally deficient. It’s clear he eats meat and nothing else. I may have been hungry for blood but maybe I was too careless with my appetite”, Krotos groaned.
“Don’t worry lad! All you need is some good dwarven rum to wash away that taste! I had Bose bring a few with me!”, Briggs smiled.
“Yeah. If I wanted to throw up my entire stomach in the process, I would gladly take your offer Dwarf. However, seeing my family will probably be the better choice in this situation. I’ll see you guys tomorrow! Hopefully, my body’s excrement can help you farm in the future. It’s a key component in high-grade fertilizer!”, Krotos said calmly.
“Isn’t Griffin Excrement massive?! I’m not touching that! I’ll do anything but touch that! Matter of fact, we could just use our points to buy someone who can do it for us!”, Orai quickly said.
As we all smiled and shook our heads simultaneously, Krotos bid his farewell to us. Orai made it possible for him to teleport to the top of the mountain, which happens to be where his home currently resided. As he teleported away, Briggs walked over to our conference table and spread out his ideas for the second floor.
“I’m thinking we should utilize the benefits of going underground to get more creative with our layouts. We can build layouts that enhance certain defensive and offensive strategies that you want to implement. I made a few drafts of certain layouts that seem to fit the way you run the dungeon but we need to acquire certain mobs for it to be effective. You’ll most likely need to reach DL 50 before we start construction so you can have access to the full suite of mobs we need. Luckily, ‘Holy Constrictor’ is a simple but efficient layout that we can use while the second floor is underway. For now, we need to prepare the dungeon for more hostile monster attacks”, Briggs stated.
“Interesting points. Emily and Ronan are staying a few more days to map the dungeon before heading back to Ravenscar. We’ll see if we can learn something from them while they are occupying the dungeon. In the meantime, I’ll keep making modifications to the dungeon and upgrading the mobs. Once Miller awakes, he’ll probably cry wolf and get his drinking buddies to take back his sword and pride”, I said.
“Luckily, Miller is arrogant so he won’t tell the townspeople about us yet. However, judging from what Ronan told us, Miller has close friends he drinks with who are B+ adventurers. He’ll most likely tell them about us and send them to get revenge. We can expect at least 7 of them to be sent after us”, Orai said.
“Won’t they know you’re the Dungeon Masters since Miller saw you?”, Briggs asked.
“His friends might but the townspeople won’t. Part of the reason that Briggs was dropped from the rooftop was to give his claim less credibility. If we can convince Emily and Ronan that we are friendly adventurers, the townspeople will be more likely to believe the party members that were with him. Miller will essentially be the one who cried wolf”, I said.
After we all yawned together, we laughed at the occurrence and decided it was time to rest. As Orai and I got onto our mattress, we both stared at each other. As we both looked at each other in the eyes, I could tell a connection was happening. Orai and I began blushing before I noticed that she had a Teddy bear in her arms. It looked very similar to what I wore.
“Oi. I’m not knocking your taste or anything but is that bear supposed to be me?”, I asked curiously.
As Orai began her trademark pout, she aggressively yanked the blanket to her side of the bed. It seems that my guess was right on target. Despite not seeing her face, I could tell that she was red with embarrassment. Whenever we have downtime, I may need to treat her to some restaurants in D2.

A brand new day comes with a brand new supply of DP! As I eagerly woke up from my slumber, I saw that Orai and Briggs were already up! While Orai was practicing her archery in the Rest Area, Briggs was working on something with Bose.
“Huh? How are you two up before me? It’s still early in the morning”, I yawned.
“Orai has been wanting to increase her strength ever since she lost against me! Instead of spending our DP on training devices, I could just make them myself! I have to kill time until we reach DL 50 anyway! Just tell me any projects you want me to work on in the meantime! Bose is working on the sword you gave me. It’ll take a few days but it’s possible!”, Briggs said happily.
As I looked at the Dungeon’s screen, I noticed the daily notification of my Status:
————————
[Dungeon Master Jordan] X [Dungeon Core Orai]
DM: 1
DL: 22
1620 DP/day
DP:1620
————————
Since Orai gave me the green light to make decisions regarding mob diversity, I went ahead and started my daily tasks as a Dungeon Master. I started the day by checking the list of mobs we had and spending 615 DP adding some mobs to the dungeon. The final list of deployed mobs was presented to me:
——————————————–
Slimes x10 [B]
Elementals x10 [B]
Golems x15 [B]
Orc x15 [C+]
Golems x 5 [C+]
Cyclops x4 [C+]
Elementals x 2 [C+]
Giant Centipede x2 [C+]
Giant Spider x2 [C+]
Giant Serpent x2 [C+]
Young Cerberus x2 [C+]
Lich x2 [C+]
Vampire x2 [C+]
Skeleton Warrior [C+]
Skeleton Archer [C+]
Skeleton Mage [C+]
Orcs x 5 [C]
Giants x2 [C]
Beholder [C]
Mimic [C]
Cyborg [C]
Wyvern x3 [C]
——————————————–
After I deemed the list satisfactory, I teleported down to where Orai was shooting arrows. Luckily, Emily and Ronan were still asleep so I still had time to perform my Dungeon duties. It’s more efficient to manage the mobs in person than on the interface.
“Good morning, Orai! Are you enjoying your training?”, I asked happily.
“Yes! This bow that Briggs made is of exceptional quality. I don’t think it would help your shooting though. Summoners aren’t that great with weapons so I wouldn’t expect you to be familiar with the art of-”
As I shot a bullseye on my first try, Orai began to become serious. At that moment, a rivalry between Dungeon Masters was formed.
Unlike most men, I believe in true gender equality. Despite that belief, I barely beat her in archery.
We have to prepare for Miller’s revenge party so we’ll need to train more.
Idiots like him always cause trouble. Idiots like him also get other people killed.
