- Chapter 33 The Hidarus Challenge Part 6
[Moments Earlier]
“…I’ll try to activate the traps in front of the Dungeon so make sure you stay alive! You have 20 hostiles inbound”, Orai stated.
As Orai ended her transmission, she furiously began typing into the Dungeon’s System. Orai was currently in D1, frantically trying to get the traps online. Since Jordan increased the Dungeon’s Effective Area by 106 ft, Krotos and Helora would have a large enough area to place the slain mobs. Slowing down the entrance rate of hostiles, as well as making sure Jordan gains DP, was the primary goal that Orai had. Luckily, she had friends that would help her achieve these goals.
“Krotos! Helora! Can you hear me? How are you guys doing so far?”, Orai asked.
While Orai’s transmission did get through to them, they were too busy dealing with the army to respond.
“Apollo’s Blizzard! 3rd Generation!”, Krotos shouted.
“Lightning Of The Pathfinder! 2nd Generation!”, Helora shouted.
“Oi! Didn’t you already use that multiple times? Shouldn’t you vary the composition of your attacks?”, Krotos asked.
“Says the person who yells out his father’s name before every attack”, Helora teased.
“Wha-! I can’t help it you know! I learned all my magic from my father! You don’t need magic textbooks when you have a legendary Griffin to teach you! It’s not my fault the old man decided to name his spells after himself!”, Krotos stated.
“Krotos, I know you’re trying to prove a point but it looks like 20 hostiles got through while you were complaining. Not to mention a Dark Knight and an artifact-holding Minotaur.
“Tch! What a bunch of bothersome mobs! I’ll be back”, Krotos stated.
Readying his wings from above, Krotos dove towards the Dungeon’s Entrance at a speed that was comparable to Mach 1. As he got closer to his destination, Krotos’s armor gradually became one of hardened Ice. As both of his eyes began glowing blue, he slammed the ground in front of the Dungeon as he performed a three-point landing. In front of Krotos were some of the many hostiles who were supposed to follow behind the Dark Knight. One of those hostiles was an A rank Corrupted Griffin, as well as the 15 B+ mobs that were accompanying it. Helora spoke to Krotos with the use of her communication magic, the same used to contact Vrudius.
“Hey, uh…do you need help Krotos? I think I’m going to try for the Behemoths. Most likely the Flame Titan”, Helora said.
“I’ll be fine! Just tell me what you find out and I’ll join you soon. Orai is most likely watching over us so she can purchase the mobs. All we have to do is reduce the numbers!”, Krotos shouted.
With a heavy sigh, Helora headed over to the Flame Titan, dreading the fight to be had with the Frost Of Ruin. As Krotos and Helora continued with their assignments, Helora decided to continue their conversation.
“It’s kind of boring just fighting, you know? How about we talk to each other while we fight? After fighting with Quill for so long, I need more mental stimulation”, Helora suggested.
“What? We’re in the middle of a battle, Helora. Is this really the time for this?”, Krotos asked.
“Can you at least listen to me while I talk? Do you know how boring it is to fight an opponent I have 100% resistance too? I’m essentially immune to Flame Magic, despite possessing zero defense”, Helora said.
As Krotos let out a sigh and placed his hand on his sword, he agreed to listen to Helora. In the meantime, Krotos would begin the process of clearing out the mobs in the immediate area. Krotos was a Griffin who usually had white hair and yellow eyes, while donning matte black armor. However, as his frosted armor glistened in the sunlight, his eyes and sword were glowing cerulean blue.
“None of you B ranks are worth my time. Die”, Krotos said coldly.
Instantaneously, Krotos activated his special ability named [Sword Creation], as all 15 B+ mobs were currently skewered with a mix of Ice spikes and unique swords. As the B+ mobs started to bleed out, Krotos used spatial magic to throw the mobs to the side while making sure they were in the Effective Area, seconds before impaling them all at once with an oddly shaped sword.
“Mobs who are a full letter rank below me aren’t worth my time. You, on the other hand, have piqued my interest. Not only are you a Griffin but you are also an A rank. It sucks that you are corrupted, otherwise, we could’ve talked this out. I don’t like killing other Griffins but it looks like you’re suffering”, Krotos said confidently.
Krotos was correct in his assertion. The Corrupted Griffin was a far cry from the pure and legendary creatures that were known throughout Orune. This Griffin had spiked teeth, black feathers, purple eyes, and a disturbing number of spikes and tentacles protruding from various places. Krotos could sense that the corruption process was incomplete, which meant that the original Griffin’s mind wasn’t completely taken over. However, it was too corrupted to be saved.
“May the Gods bless your soul as I free you from your suffering”, Krotos prayed.
As the unstable Griffin instantly teleported behind Krotos, he quickly tried to slash Krotos’s neck by the use of his deformed talons. Before he could notice, the Griffin was slashing an afterimage of Krotos, which was quickly turning into mist.
“You dumb piece of shit. You don’t think I know spatial magic too?”, Krotos said proudly.

“So much for talking with Krotos. I guess I’ll have to talk to myself. I would talk with Orai but she might be busy focusing on the defenses. She’s probably stressed right now but she believes in our ability to defend. I wish those B+ would hurry up and bleed out, though! Why would Krotos make them die slow when Jordan said clean and efficient? Speaking of Jordan, I wonder if they killed that Dark Knight yet. The last time I saw those units were when Quill enlisted them against Predator when he was known as the ‘Holy Hunter’…”, Helora trailed off.
Helora shuttered on her way to the Flame Titan, remembering the fall of Demon King Quill.

[Meanwhile In The Dungeon]
“I didn’t realize Krotos was so good at combat but why did he make the hostiles die slow! You could’ve impaled them with more than one sword, you know! Now I have to watch 3000 DP come in super slow during the Hidarus Challenge! On the bright side, 600 DP has come in so far. Judging from how Jordan thinks, I’ll probably get…”, Orai trailed off.
As Orai looked through the DP store, she made the following purchases:

Elementals x8 [B]
Golems x10 [B]
Angel Soldier x5 [C]

However, before she got to tell Jordan the good news, D1’s white walls turned red as a movie trailer-like voice began to read the alert out loud.
