Reincarnated As God - Chapter 14 First Contac
After thinking of possible solutions which weren’t as intrusive, Meng Li didn’t come up with any which had an effect to his liking. Despite the arrays being a valuable help to grow the colonies in their infancy, now they had to go and explore the world, and staying holed up didn’t encourage exploration. So, Meng Li went and asked the system.
[That’s easy to do. Simply reduce the power of the qi gathering and absorbing diagrams, the array will get less and less qi to sustain it’s use, will get slower and weaker, and eventually will be completely disabled.]
Despite the words being familiar and understanding the gist of what the system recommended him to do, Meng Li had no idea how to do it. So, he asked the ever-helpful system.
[Yes. The arrays will fully stop working about 500 years in the future.]

‘Okay, that leaves plenty of time for… training?’ Meng Li realised quickly that 500 years meant nothing more than several months in the control room. But before he let the civilization develop completely on their own, he had one idea.

However, since he didn’t want a continent overrun with evil cultivators killing everyone they stumble into, he decided not to place many. Just enough to get a few evil individuals which might startle the peaceful civilization.
Meng Li decided to go all out with his request, practically getting the system to create an entire dead civilization from scratch. Well, he was doing the same, but he was doing it far more organically…
After describing what he wanted to the system, Meng Li felt some of his qi fade and disappear. He also noticed the globe in his head changing – the changes were far too small to be noticed by eye, but it definitely did change. If he had to describe the change, it would be like the atmosphere of the globe changed to be much more… ancient. While before it was a happy newborn planet, now it felt like it wasn’t as new and had a history to it. It may be a fabricated history, but it was one nevertheless.
After seeing all the changes first hand, Meng Li thought about what he was going to do next. The ruins the system made were quite bland and uninteresting even for someone without the knowledge that it was all fake, so Meng Li got bored of them really quickly. As for his course of action – the changes made to the arrays caused them to fade and decrease in strength, and ultimately disappear after 500 years. So, to see any development, he would have to wait more than 500 years. He was also not in a mood to set a hard deadline for himself, so he had an idea. However, he had to ask the system first.
<system, is=”” there=”” any=”” way=”” for=”” you=”” to=”” monitor=”” the=”” development=”” of=”” world=”” while=”” i=”” train?=”” like,=”” notify=”” me=”” when=”” civilizations=”” meet=”” first=”” time?=”” or=”” they=”” have=”” a=”” breakthrough,=”” like=”” finding=”” elemental=”” crystals=”” something?=””>
[Yes, it is possible. What would you like me to notify you of?]

And as for training, he didn’t seem to get bored of it – even though he stopped his 3 month long training session barely yesterday, he was already itching to jump back into training once again. And while checking on his cultivation, he noticed that the previously shaky Foundation was stabilised, and there would be no problem for him to resume his cultivation.
Finishing everything, Meng Li walked over to the mat in the centre of the control room, sat down and immersed himself in training.
…
[The civilizations are making first contact.]
Meng Li felt as though he had heard something. He groggily opened his tightly shut eyes and focused on what was happening in front of him. The control room was, as usual, barren.
“Could you repeat?” confused, he said the command to the system out loud.
[The civilizations are making first contact.] The system repeated. Now fully awake, Meng Li was excited at the news. But before diving into his consciousness, he had to ask the system.
[1 and a half years.] It seemed like the time period was long enough that the system didn’t bother specifying. It didn’t really matter to Meng Li either, as he no longer cared about the passage of time with the nameless technique.
Still, Meng Li couldn’t help but suck in air at the number. It was more than 1500 years! He was surprised it took the civilizations so long to finally make contact. Without dwelling on the matter, he hurriedly took a look on the globe and zoomed in on where the system had marked it.
The place he was looking at was unremarkable, as was the sight. There were two hunting teams conversing with each other, casually. But the interesting thing about it was that Meng Li could see that both of the teams were getting more and more uneasy the more they talked. He managed to hear some snippets of conversation, and it seemed that both the teams were quite high ranked hunting teams in their respective civilizations, since they both could venture so far out as to find each other. At first, they both approached the other team, thinking it was another team from their own civilization, but as they talked, the differences in their knowledge made it clear that they were dealing with strangers. However, as they had no idea that other civilizations even existed, they didn’t catch onto what was happening.
After a few minute, the teams clearly separated and both backed off until there were at least a few dozen meters in between them and started discussing in hushed voices between them. Meng Li could see that the stalemate was going to continue for a bit, so he split a bit of his concentration to learn of the situations of both the civilizations. They were remarkably the same, which wasn’t a big surprise since the knowledge they received from their ancestors was the same. However, what surprised Meng Li was that both of the civilizations split into a few groups already. But after thinking for a bit, he came to the conclusion that it was a no brainer. After all, when he saw the conditions of the tribes even before the array started growing weak, there was a clear separation between people. The original colony was already beginning to split into the noble group and the commoners at that point, so the different factions were inevitable more than a thousand years into the future. Maybe there was a genius born into a poor family who eventually rebelled, creating his own faction, or there were two siblings with similar strength who eventually split their faction – who knew? Meng Li for sure didn’t. But still, the situation in both the civilizations, or rather kingdoms, was clear. There was one ruling family, who had the strongest individual. Then there were noble families, and eventually the commoners. It was so common in novels that Meng Li had the urge to call it cliche. But he quickly turned his attention to the scene of the meeting, since he sensed a development there.
One of the hunting groups made a move, and the leader stepped forward.
“Friends, I think we all know it by now that we are not from the same place, am I right?” he carefully shouted.
From the other group a person stepped forward, who seemed to be the leader. He was bulky and seemed like he preferred brawn over brain.
“Yes, it is quite obvious at this point.” he said in a rough tone. “I’m not really sure as to what to do, but I have to report this to the king, and I’m guessing you have to report this situation to your masters as well.” he said. It turned out that while he looked rash, he was actually quite smart. With this, the bulky man commanded his hunting team using a hand sign to retreat. The team had a campsite nearby, which acted as a sort of main base for their exploration.
Seeing the other party move, the first hunting team also retreated, leaving no one on the scene in minutes.
Meng Li looked calmly over the situation, thinking of what was going to happen. Both of the hunting teams were going to go back to their respective kingdoms and report it. Normally reports would take quite a while, but such an important thing would get to the king’s ears in no time. The next meetings were probably going to happen in the same valley where the hunters met, since they had no real knowledge of where the other party was. Meng Li didn’t really know what was going to happen next, but he didn’t really care. He had a vision of a cultivation world, and the beginning stages were quite boring to him. As such, he decided to once again bury himself in training. But before, he wanted to inspect his progress. His cultivation was now at the peak of the third stage of Qi Foundation, and he was finished with Reinforcement. He could now progress into pillar building, but he decided to leave it for later and still train his control and his spiritual sense. Speaking of which, his spiritual sense could now cover an area of 25 km in radius, and he also knew a few tricks – like stretching it into a line to sense much further into one specific direction, or compressing it onto something to scan it in much more detail. He also had more control over the aura – while he didn’t know it before, his spiritual sense could also release pressure onto anything he wanted, the difference was that this pressure was spiritual, as the name implied. But now, he could control its’ release, and now, he was able to use it without anyone knowing he was using it – in fact, anyone with a lower skill than his wouldn’t be able to find out he had used it. And at this point, with his skill, there was no one who would be able to notice his spiritual sense scanning over them. It was quite an achievement, but Meng Li wanted more. He discovered that he didn’t get tired of training at all, no matter how much he did it. In fact, the one and a half years training session he just finished merely felt like a day for him! It was a strange change which he could not wrap his head around.
With that in mind, Meng Li once again immersed himself into training.
