Reincarnated As God - Chapter 29 A Separate Path
As he brought them closer, he could sense an odd power repelling them. It was like pushing two magnets together. The closer it got, the stronger it got, but Meng Li was able to overpower it at first. However, the closer they got, the more the repelling power grew. In the end, when the pillars were about to touch and fuse, the pillars completely stopped. Meng Li was unable to bring them any closer as the repelling power was simply too strong. However, he was unwilling to give up. This repelling power was probably there because the outcome of such a thing would be too strong, Meng Li reasoned.
Meng Li had to give up after ten minutes of struggling. He could feel his control wane from overexertion, and he had to come up with a plan because brute force wasn’t going to work in this case.
Maybe it was due to Meng Li’s inexperience, but the only idea he was able to come up with was using Qi. It was counterproductive – he was trying to control a huge amount of Qi to merge, so why would controlling more Qi help?
However, his plan wasn’t so simple. He wanted to use the Qi to encircle the pillars, and explode it. Yep. Explode.
Qi could naturally self-destruct and release a devastating amount of energy. Normally, such a thing was a last resort for cultivators who wanted to bring their enemy with them, but it could work. A normal Dantian would never be able to withstand the huge amount of energy released from an explosion, but Meng Li believed in himself. The toughness of his Dantian was off the charts, and he already did some experiments – he exploded a small strand of Qi within his Dantian to test out the power. It wasn’t so bad – his Dantian shook, but he wasn’t injured. It was kind of like a mild electric shock. However, he would need more than that.
Meng Li mentally calculated the amount of Qi he would have to explode and couldn’t help but suck in a breath of air. It was a lot, and he wasn’t quite sure that his Dantian would be fine if he did so. However, he had to go all in. And so, he tried breaking through again.
He once again controlled the pillars to be brought close together. The mysterious repelling power appeared once again, and it was as strong as before. However, Meng Li had an ace up his sleeve. When the pillars were on the verge of touching, he controlled a thick strand of Qi to encircle them, and mentally commanded it to explode. The force produced from the explosion barrelled out from the three pillars. It washed over his Dantian, stirring huge waves in the sea on the bottom. It shook the space itself, producing ripples in the air. When it reached the walls of the Dantian, they shook violently. In the control room, Meng Li shook violently and a boom resounded out of his body. He coughed up some blood into his mouth, and a small trickle flowed from the corner of his mouth.
However, within his Dantian, the pillars actually touched each other. The moment they did, the fusion started, and the equilibrium actually was present. The repelling power also disappeared. A huge boom echoed within Meng Li’s mind, nearly making him lose control over the fusing process. It was as though some shackles he couldn’t even see were broken, and he was free to soar. He felt… Free. However, now was not the time to ponder over it. He had to watch over the fusion process and prevent any accidents from ocurring.
Fortunately, Meng Li managed to complete it. The fusion lasted an entire day – twenty four hours. Although he was in a terrible shape, Meng Li was overjoyed. The pillar in his Dantian was special – although it was one, he could sense three distinct auras within. They were the auras of Vitality, Soul Power and Qi. It was strange, but Meng Li could tell it was out of ordinary.
He spent the next few days healing from the injuries he sustained from the explosion of Qi. Although it was violent, it didn’t cause any lasting damage to his Dantian.

After he was done, he had one last thing to complete – the last merge. This time, it wouldn’t be an equilibrium, and he would be fusing the pillar supporting his body into the pillar supporting the three Dantians.
As the fusion started, both of the pillars demonstrated shocking power, which would put all Qi Foundation cultivators to shame. After all, to create them, Meng Li merged over a thousand pillars, and supported practically everything he could within his body. However, the pillar supporting the body was supressed without being able to put up a fight before the other pillar. The pillar supporting the three Dantians shone with three distinct lights during the merge – white, green, and blue. He could see that the white light came from the Qi, the green from Vitality, and blue from Soul Power. It was a magnificent sight – one Meng Li wouldn’t forget until the end of his life. It was… Beautiful.
The supressed pillar was absorbed in merely a few minutes, and the brilliance of the main pillar only increased. It now stood in the centre of his Dantian, like a pillar supporting the heavens. Now that Meng Li had finally finished, he could now examine his gains.
The most obvious thing was that his body’s strength once again increased considerably. If previously, he could be compared to a normal adult, the current him was like Superman. His strength had grown over a hundred fold.
The less obvious increase was in his Qi. Although the strength, purity or concentration of his Qi didn’t increase, the amount did. It, too, grew over a hundred fold.
However, the strangest thing Meng Li could now do came from the pillar remaining within his Dantian. He could now control his Vitality and Soul Force. The Vitality was like a green sea within the middle Dantian, but compared to his Qi, it was like a puddle. Still, the strength and amount could compare to a Qi Gathering cultivator’s Qi. The strangest thing, and the one which he couldn’t quantify, was the soul power. It was like a mist – similar to the mist created from Qi which the nameless technique created. However, since it was stored within his soul, he didn’t dare use it haphazardly. He could tell that by drawing the mist out from the faint ball of light in the upper Dantian, he was reducing his soul’s strength. As it dimmed, his thinking abilities lessened, and he felt strangely tired. He hurriedly returned the soul power to his soul, and the tiredness went away.
On second thought, Meng Li also didn’t dare to touch the Vitality – after all, it was connected to his lifespan. Despite the fact that it was growing, he could tell that a small amount of Vitality was drained constantly from the pool in the middle Dantian, and even though it was far less than what was pouring in, he had a faint premonition that if there was no Vitality in the pool, he would die.
However, Meng Li wanted to know what caused this change, so he asked the system.
<hey, can=”” you=”” tell=”” what=”” happened?=””>the way he addressed the system changed slowly over the years to a more casual one.
[Okay. You seem to be… Wait, what?!] Meng Li could hear the usually monotone voice of the system suddenly change. It conveyed extreme surprise and disbelief. Meng Li was curious – he had never seen the system express any emotions before.
he asked, stunned.
[This… How did you cultivate?!] the system asked him urgently. Meng Li was extremely confused – before, the system was able to tell his cultivation status without him telling it. It seems like something strange happened this time.
[I know that, I was already watching. What happened next?!] the system interrupted and shouted. Meng Li frowned.
<i’m trying=”” to=”” tell=”” a=”” story!=”” don’t=”” be=”” rude.=”” anyways,=”” i=”” couldn’t=”” find=”” any=”” more=”” body=”” parts=”” support,=”” so=”” asked=”” you.=””>Meng Li coughed awkwardly. He forgot about that – the system must’ve seen him at that point and didn’t seem surprised.
Meng Li hurriedly explained.
[This… What… How…] Meng Li could sense the exasperation in the system’s voice.
he couldn’t help but ask worriedly.
[No, it’s just… No, what you did is actually amazing and a huge opportunity, but the way it happened is just so… Sigh…] Meng Li could feel the frustration in the system’s voice. In the end, it let out a defeated sigh.
Meng Li asked carefully.
[No. You better not learn about this… Or actually… Okay, I will tell you. It’s important for you to know and to avoid future mistakes.] Meng Li was confused as to why the system had changed its’ mind, but he wasn’t complaining. After all, curiosity was one of his driving factors.
[All of the races have different cultivation systems. This is something you know, right? Humans also have a certain cultivation system. There are actually a few different races of humans and they have different cultivation systems too. But, the most important thing about this is – it can’t be changed unless you are powerful enough. In fact, master once mentioned that at a certain level, cultivators can change the laws of the world at will, create new worlds with a wave of their hand, or reduce existing ones to dust with merely a thought. Even master hasn’t reached that level of cultivation. At that level, you can also create new systems of cultivation. However, what you did is something which occurs sometimes: you broke the boundary of the cultivation system which was once created by such a figure. You will now have to forge ahead your own path. Since you started from this cultivation system, you can take some things away, like the next few levels, the origin core, nascent soul, etc., but you will have to also be careful. If cultivating according to a system is like stepping on a well lit road, what you’re doing right now is treading a path in the complete darkness, where one wrong step can send you into an abyss. The repelling force which kept you from merging the three pillars was probably the laws of the heavens keeping you from breaking free from the cultivation system… I do not know how you managed to overcome them, a simple explosion of a thread of Qi is nowhere near enough to do so. Sigh… If only master was here…] Meng Li had learned a lot from this. Although he didn’t understand much, he could tell that the path he was now on was a dangerous one. Still, he wasn’t worried – in fact, he was quite happy.
Meng Li was eager to ask.
[It’s hard to say. Probably not, as all of the people in this world are predetermined to walk on the cultivation path paved by one such figure in the ancient times, and breaking free of it is practically impossible. However, I do not know enough to tell you this with certainty…] Meng Li could sense the helplessness in the system’s voice. Although the answer wasn’t the one he hoped for, he wasn’t too worried. Although he might be walking a different path, he still used Qi, so the path was not much different from the one tread by the people around him. Thus, it wouldn’t be difficult to progress on it… Right? Right???</i’m></hey,>
