Reincarnated As God - Chapter 3 Qi Sea Realm
“Fheeeew….” Meng Li exhaled a long breath. The white mist he released from his breath managed to travel for over a meter before dispersing.
“I wonder how long I’ve been sitting here…” Meng Li wondered aloud. Right now, he stopped cultivating after he felt that he finally reached the peak of the 10th level of Qi Gathering and realised that he could begin breaking through to the Qi Sea realm, but he decided against it, since he felt like a long time has passed since he woke up. He wanted to sleep for a bit to be in his peak form when breaking through. He also noticed that despite training for quite a long time, he didn’t get hungry or thirsty. He didn’t really know what to do with this information so he decided to ignore it and go to sleep for now. As he stood up however, from the corner of his eye noticed that the text on the wall which didn’t display any change previously now had an additional paragraph.
<you’ve been=”” cultivating=”” for=”” 1=”” year,=”” 46=”” days,=”” 13=”” hours,=”” 57=”” minutes=”” and=”” 16=”” seconds=”” by=”” now.=””>
Meng Li was stunned. By several things. First, what was written on the wall. If it was true, which he was inclined to believe, then he had functioned for over a year without eating, drinking, or sleeping, the basic necessities of any human being. It was simply inconceivable. Second, the text on the wall responded to his question – that meant that it was listening to him. Maybe even reading his mind – he didn’t know whether that kind of thing was possible or not in the cultivation world.
“Uhhhh… Have you been listening all the time?” Meng Li said slowly. He didn’t quite believe he would get a response, but he stared at the text on the wall intensely. And he was not disappointed, as he realised that a new line appeared.
Meng Li didn’t quite know how to feel. After all, he was naked at the start – maybe the person who wrote this could also see him? He didn’t know. And despite the fact that he didn’t say anything embarrassing, knowing that you were being listened to was still quite unpleasant. It was the same reason people were deleting their Facebook accounts or were joking that ‘Alexa always listens’ or that ‘Goggle always listens’. The sudden revelation that he was being monitored for the entire time he had been in the white room was quite shocking. It didn’t help that he just learned that he was sitting still for over a years and still didn’t have sore muscles… Meng Li had to blame this fact on the nameless technique he practiced. As for how he could sit for an entire year without stopping once? He had no idea and didn’t even know where to start with thinking about it.
But for now, he decided to put all of those questions beside and ask the magic wall about some things which were bugging him.
“So… Why am I here?”
“Okay, but why did you have to find a talented person to bring here?”
<it’s master’s=”” order.=””>
“Who is your master and why does he need a talented person?”
Meng Li was quite annoyed. When he skimmed through the cultivation technique booklet he memorised the names of the cultivation stages, and Nascent Soul was far ahead of the Qi Sea realm. In fact, after the Qi Sea Realm was the Qi Foundation Realm, after which was the Origin Core Realm, only after which came the Nascent Soul Realm. So, he currently had no way to know what he was brought here for.
“Okay, so how about… When can I get out of here.” As he said ‘here’, Meng Li made a broad sweep with his hand, motioning at the completely white room. Despite the fact that he had grown used to it’s weirdness over the time he was here, that didn’t mean his desire to get out lessened. In fact, the stronger he got, the more he wanted to leave and use his strength. After all, what was strength if you couldn’t use it? It was nothing.
The response he received from the magic wall didn’t change.
‘So the goal to break through to the Qi Sea realm was the requirement to get out of here. Okay, that’s progress…’ Meng Li thought.
“Last thing, how can I function without any food or water, or sleep for that matter for over a year??” now came the thing he was the most confused about.
‘So it doesn’t have anything to do with the nameless technique? Okay, that’s interesting.’
“Well, I’m going to get some sleep now. See you”
Deep in thought, Meng Li didn’t even notice that he said goodbye to a talking wall and went to sleep. Fortunately, despite not requiring sleep, he could still fall asleep – otherwise he would want to cry but have no tears – after all, sleeping was one of his favourite things to do.
The next day, Meng Li woke up refreshed. This night of sleep was the best night of sleep he had ever gotten, and he felt ready to break through to the Qi Sea Realm and exit the white room he was trapped in for the last year.
‘Well I did cultivate for a year but it felt like it was an hour at most, so I don’t really know…’ he thought absent-mindedly.
Shrugging off all unnecessary thoughts, he sat down on the mat and circulated hi qi. The qi, travelling through his meridians, looked like a majestic river – compared to when he was at the first level of Qi Gathering, was like comparing a mere firefly with the moon. After admiring the majestic river for a bit, Meng Li got back on track. The method of breaking through to the Qi Sea realm was deceptively simple – first, you had to open your Dantian and make space within it for a sea, then forcefully stop the stream of qi revolving around the meridians and force it to flow towards the sea. At the same times, you had to absorb as much qi from around you as possible, to sustain the rivers flowing into the sea in your Dantian. It was important to keep the rivers flowing, because if they stopped, the sea would eventually dry out and the space in the Dantian would collapse and a person would be back to the starting point, without any cultivation. It wouldn’t cause any real damage, but the time wasted from having to cultivate to the 10th level once again was so big that a person who failed to break through could give up their position as an elder and descend into the younger generation, since their cultivation could only match the youths from now on.

As Meng Li started the break through process, he managed to smash the delicate barrier surrounding his Dantian in an instant, with his Qi gushing inside, carving out a gigantic seabed that would hold his Qi Sea in the future. As the seabed reached the required size, Meng Li retracted the Qi into his Qi River and prepared for the final push.
When he was ready, he suddenly stopped the rotation of the Qi River. The Qi, now without a place it could hide, felt the suction from the seabed inside his Dantian, and started to gush towards it. Instantly, many rivers were created, flowing from every part of his body into his Dantian. At the same time, Meng Li also started to savagely suck in the Qi surrounding him through all of his pores, in order for the rivers not to dry out. The Qi Rivers in his body started overflowing with Qi, the bountiful Qi deepening his meridians and the rest of the Qi spilling into his muscles, strengthening them further. Throughout this time, the seabed inside his Dantian started slowly filling up. 1%, 3%, 5%, 10%… The level of Qi went up slowly, but surely. The speed of the surface raising also increased when Meng Li started absorbing even more Qi through his pores, to avoid having any of the rivers drying out.
40%, 50%, 60%, 70%…
The Sea slowly started to become more and more full as all of the Qi Rivers deposited all their Qi into it. The sight in Meng Li’s Dantian was beautiful, with the Qi pouring their contents into the Qi Sea like the Nine Astral Rivers emptying into the Heavenly Lake.
80%, 90%, 95%…
The level of Qi in the Sea rose ever so slowly as Meng Li had to pull ever increasing amounts of Qi into his pores to avoid having his Qi Rivers drying up. The Qi gushing inside of him formed a whirlpool inside of the white room, with the Qi flow stirring his clothes and hair to whip, as if in real wind. The whipping robe and hair, along with the concentrated look on his face gave him a visage of an expert.
96%, 97%, 98%, 99%…
‘This is the last stretch, just one percent more. Come on, you can do it.’ Meng Li encouraged himself in his mind. He was at the end of his mental endurance – the strain of pulling such huge amounts of Qi into all of his pores was hard to bear for an extended period of time. He realised that he really underestimated the goal he received from the magic wall to get out of the white room… He promised himself that he would not dare to underestimate anything that had to do with cultivation in the future – the fact that he succeeded with practicing the nameless technique didn’t mean he would be so lucky with everything he did.
Fortunately, in this case, he managed to pull through. His Qi Sea was finally full, and he could finally relax, knowing that he did it.
Meng Li couldn’t help but collapse onto his back once he realised it was over. The experience was something he did not want to repeat again – from smugness into confusion, into panic. Yes, he had panicked – near the end he thought he would fail. Previously, after his success with the nameless technique, he had developed a slight, but unmistakeable despise toward cultivation. Pride was something that every person needed to have, while arrogance and despise weren’t. Fortunately, he had this near-fail experience that beat the budding arrogance out of him. He didn’t want to become one of those arrogant young masters that always get beat up in the novels after all…
‘Well, I did it. There’s no use asking
As he glanced at the magic wall, he saw that the line that had never changed before changed into this congratulatory form. He smiled lightly, knowing that he had in deed, managed to do what he needed to.
Looking a bit left from the magic wall, he realised that on the previously barren wall appeared a simple door. It was closed at the moment, but he had a feeling that it was unlocked.
“Finally…”
