Reincarnated As God - Chapter 47 The Ravine On Weixi Island
“Fighting for money?!” Meng Li shouted in surprise. However, he calmed down quickly and considered the pros and cons.
“Yes. An arena to fight to the death would be the fastest way for you to acquire experience. The money is also not an issue, and just before the ships depart, we could teleport to the dock…” Ye Jian answered Meng Li before suddenly stopping mid sentence. His face showed some disappointment and he lifted his hand to massage his eyes.
“Can… You teleport to the Weixi island?” Ye Jian asked slowly. Meng Li simply nodded – he didn’t realize Ye Jian’s state, as he was deep in thought. Ye Jian only sighed and continued massaging his eyes.
“Since we can teleport there, how about taking a little trip to that island? We should be able to find some Qi Gathering beasts to train with.” Ye Jian proposed. They had some free time, so why not make use of it?
“Sure, why not. But to be careful, I need to leave something with my Spiritual Sense in the inn. My Spiritual Sense can’t yet extend that far.” Meng Li replied. He used his Qi to break off a small chunk from the rock he was sitting on and polish it. It was about the size of an adult’s hand, and due to the polishing, it had a smooth and shiny surface. However, it was still ordinary in nature. However, as Meng Li infused his Spiritual Sense into it and created a branding, the rock changed, and from simply looking like an ordinary rock, it suddenly looked… Mysterious. Of course, that was for mortals – for a cultivator, they could still sense there was nothing unusual about it. However, some dim witted Qi Gathering cultivator could potentially be fooled by it.
Meng Li didn’t think much about the matter and continued on. At some point, he disappeared from the rock he was sitting on, before reappearing. He had teleported to his room in the inn and placed the rock under the bed – it wouldn’t be found easily. With the rock placed there, he could now use the Spiritual Sense inside of it to see whether Ye Jin and Xie Ja had emerged from their cultivation.
“Alright, all done.” Meng Li notified Ye Jian. Ye Jian nodded and quickly replied.
“Then, let’s go.”
With that, Meng Li walked over to Ye Jian, grasped his shoulder, and then teleported.
The destination he had chose wasn’t the Kantan city – in fact, he had chose a spot on the other side of the island. He didn’t want to encounter other people on their journey. The place they had appeared in was a peak of a mountain. After choosing random valleys for so many times, Meng Li wanted to appreciate the sights surrounding them for a change.
It was truly a good decision – the sights on the Weixi island were beautiful. The system had done an amazing job creating it, and the fifteen thousand years that have passed were enough for the nature to mold the place to its’ liking. The trees had corroded the stone, strong beasts have left marks of battle, and nature itself changed the place with rain, storms, and floods.
The result was majestic – all of the mountains surrounding them were at least five kilometres tall, and some of the valleys stretched far below the sea level yet weren’t covered in water. Meng Li chose a peak of one of the tallest mountains in the surroundings, which was about ten thousand metres tall – it meant that its’ peak was about ten thousand metres above the sea level, but the mountain merely stretched eight thousand metres above the surrounding land. The place he chose was quite close to the shore, and the ground raised to about two thousand metres at average. However, the mountain was still gigantic, and allowed them to see most of the Weixi island. From it, they could see the sea, which was tens of kilometres away, and the gigantic peak in the middle of Weixi island.
It was a true beast, standing at about thirty thousand metres. The sight was… Majestic. However, Meng Li could also vaguely see something irregular on the absolute peak of the mountain. With his extreme vision, the peak of the mountain seemed a bit… Thicker than it should. The mountain was quite smooth for its’ size, with only some occasional cliffs or flat areas, but the peak seemed to have something coiled around it.

However, Meng Li didn’t pay much heed to it, and instead turned to Ye Jian. Unfortunately, he didn’t see the reaction he was hoping to see.
“So, what do you think?” Meng Li asked with a smile.
“Looks good.” Ye Jian answered. Even though he complimented it, Meng Li felt disappointed – Ye Jian wasn’t as awed as he first was. Ye Jian seemed to see his expression, so he explained further.
“In my previous world, there were much more majestic things. I’ve seen mountains tens of millions of metres in height, palaces which were bigger than even this planet, or even planets the size of this planet’s sun. Hopefully, in the future, you’ll see those kinds of things too, after you leave this world.” Ye Jian shared some of his experiences with Meng Li. While he explained it, his face showed some respect and shock. It seemed like those things still managed to shock him.
“Hmmmm…. Let me show you something.” Meng Li thought about something for a few seconds before he said to Ye Jian. Ye Jian nodded, and Meng Li proceeded to grab his shoulder and teleport.
This time, the location he had chose to teleport to was what he nicknamed the ‘ravine of the clouds’. It was the huge ravine, hundreds of metres in width, splitting practically the entire island in half. It was still about a hundred kilometres away from the peak of the highest mountain in the centre of the island, but it still split mountains as high as fifteen thousand metres in height. The bottom of the ravine also went extremely far down – the bottom of the ravine was the lowest point on the planet. However, what gave it its’ charm was the river of clouds flowing through.
Due to the height of the entire island, the clouds and the winds blowing above the ocean had nowhere to go. They could only flow around the island, but this ravine created a passage through the entire island, those clouds could flow through. This meant that the ravine was perpetually filled with howling winds and thick clouds billowing through it. It looked completely like a river, and only by careful observation would one be able to notice that the white substance wasn’t actually splashing water, but clouds.
This time, Meng Li was satisfied. Ye Jian actually showed some surprise after he had realised what the sight was. It wasn’t only because of that, though – the extreme wind flowing through the ravine was also extremely strong, and at some points, could kill Qi Gathering cultivators and pose a serious threat to weaker Qi Sea cultivators. Flight through the ravine was also extremely dangerous, since the extreme winds could confuse anyone flying through and take them on an extremely dangerous roller coaster ride, except without a coaster or any safety equipment, and the end of the ride would be being squashed against a rock.
In short, this ravine offered an extremely good, natural training spot. With only some formations to control the extremely dangerous nature, it could be turned into a dangerous but not lethal training ground, with little or no Qi required to sustain it.
“Brother Meng, this ravine is actually a really good spot to create the sect.” Ye Jian said to Meng Li and explained what he had thought. At first, Meng Li thought that he was joking, but after listening to Ye Jian’s ideas, he gradually changed his mind. His view towards the ravine also changed from appreciating the view, to seeing all of the potential.
“It’s a shame that it’s so close to the Kantan city. If only it were on the other side of the mountain, then we could occupy it in its’ entirety and it wouldn’t be a problem.” Meng Li muttered. The Kantan city wasn’t actually close to the ravine at all – if anything, it was hundreds of kilometres away. However, with the island being about a thousand kilometres in diameter, they couldn’t occupy the entire ravine and not let people approach – it was like grabbing hold of half the island.
“That’s not a problem, this would only work in certain spots. Also, the cloud layer is a perfect hiding spot – if we create tunnels by using arrays inside the clouds, no one would be able to notice it from above the cloud layer. Then, simply place some arrays to protect that specific place so no one who encounters it will be able to live, and we can hide it perfectly. After all, the entire ravine is extremely dangerous, how would anyone notice that no one who falls in a specific section doesn’t survive.” Ye Jian explained his thoughts.
Doing it this way would also be advantageous – the would be able to create the main sect closer to the main peak, and then simply create tunnels that led to the ravine.
“That makes sense. But in that case, we will also need to create some way to pass over the ravine.” Meng Li added.
“Yes… But let’s not think of that right now. You can fly, right?” Ye Jian asked. Meng Li simply nodded, confused. Flight was easy, and even Qi Sea cultivators could do so, though for an extremely limited time. At Qi Foundation, the passive regeneration of Qi was practically enough to cover the Qi use while flying, only requiring rest after a long flight.
“Can you show me the entirety of the ravine? I want to see it all, especially the spots where it’s thin.” Ye Jian asked Meng Li. Meng Li didn’t ask him why, and simply teleported with him to one of the exits to the ravine. The ravine didn’t have an easy exit – it ended in a cliff, which was about a hundred metres below the cloud layer. The clouds spewed from the exit like a river flowing into the sea, except this time, they were on the bottom – it was still magical. However, they weren’t here to admire the scenery.
Ye Jian glanced at the cliff with some surprise. It was extremely deep, going a few kilometres down. The cliff was also extremely steep, at some points becoming an overhang, and it had extremely few flat spots. With such a deep ravine, it was impossible to see the bottom, even with Ye Jian’s vision. Thus, he didn’t examine it further and instead asked Meng Li to fly with him along the edge.
While Ye Jian wasn’t able to achieve flight with his Qi, by using all of his passive Qi regeneration, he was at least able to reduce his weight to only about half. Thus, Meng Li didn’t have a hard time flying. His flight was also extremely fast, crossing several dozen metres every second. At such a speed, they would reach the other end of the ravine pretty quickly – the ravine was only about seven hundred kilometres, and Meng Li was able to cross that distance in a few hours.
The flight didn’t indeed take long, but by the time they ended, the sun was about to set behind the steep mountains. When they reached the other end, Ye Jian didn’t look at the cliff at the other end of the ravine and instead asked Meng Li to take him to the thinnest segment of the ravine. Without thinking, Meng Li did so.
The thinnest section of the ravine was merely a few hundred metres wide. It was extremely thin in comparison to the other parts of the ravine, which were on average a few kilometres wide.
With such a limited area, the wind was travelling through it at an incredible rate. The walls of the ravine showed signs of corrosion due to the wind after merely fifteen thousand years, which was a short time for something like corrosion by wind to occur. This was a testament to the strength of the wind.
Even a Qi Sea cultivator would have trouble surviving this kind of wind even if he had solid ground under his feet – with such a ravine, if a Qi Sea cultivator fell in, they would inevitable die. Even Qi Foundation cultivators would have to fly away in fear from these kinds of winds and wouldn’t escape without a severe injury if they were caught within them. Meng Li himself felt some fear, looking at the white blur, which the clouds had created when travelling so fast.
Ye Jian instead looked at the wind and clouds with a smile on his face. Although Meng Li knew what he was thinking about, Ye Jian’s expression still seemed like he was about to do something sinister.
“So, how do you go about creating a sect?” Meng Li asked curiously. He didn’t have any experience with it, so he asked Ye Jian.
“First, you have to know what a sect is. You shouldn’t start by building a place to reside, and should first have those three things.” Ye Jian started explaining. When he got to the three things one needed to start a sect, his disposition changed, and he emitted a domineering aura.
“First, you need the sect’s teachings. What is your sect teaching? Is there a specific weapon the disciples focus on? How do you want the disciples to behave? Should they be righteous and kind, or evil and scheming?” Ye Jian explained. “This sect will of course be righteous and kind. I despise demonic cultivators.” Ye Jian showed some hatred on his face when he mentioned demonic cultivators.
“The sect will also focus on cultivating the sword. I don’t have anything against the sword, but I don’t know anything about other weapons, so I don’t have anything to teach to people who cultivate them.” Ye Jian shrugged when he mentioned other weapons.
“Second, you need manuals! Without any diversity in cultivation methods, you aren’t creating a sect, you’re taking personal disciples. Some disciples of the sect won’t be a perfect fit for your personal cultivation method, and thus, you need some diversity. I think this won’t be a problem, considering the treasures your master left you. I will also transcribe some methods from my memory.” Ye Jian continued.
“And third, the most important thing. You need disciples!” Ye Jian built up the tension, and said something which seemed obvious to Meng Li.
“Disciples?” Meng Li couldn’t help but ask.
“Yes, disciples. You can’t create a sect by yourself. First, you need a few disciples, who will then take care of different things. The perfect number is three – one for the training hall, one for the library, and one for the affairs of the sect. They will take care of things which will later be passed on to elders. Those will be the first generation disciples. Then, those disciples will accept their own disciples – those will be second generation. Those second generation disciples will grow, take on elders’ positions and take in their own disciples, and so on. At that point, you can settle down.” Ye Jian explained. To Meng Li, it made sense – it was basically a breakdown of the normal needs of a sect.
“So, we can’t skip to the end and start by building, huh?” Meng Li muttered silently. It was a bit of a shame, but he didn’t care – it would come eventually.
“Yes, first we need to find disciples. And by we, I think I will accept them…” Ye Jian said, after thinking for a bit.
Meng Li silently agreed. For now, he didn’t really want to take in any disciples – not because he didn’t want any, but because he felt that his skills weren’t enough. If anything, he could accept disciples to pass on his painting skills, but it wasn’t really something anyone would want to learn…
