When I arrive at the kitchen, I open the refrigerator to see if my Char Sui ready to serve or not, unfortunately, it still some more times before it can be served. That’s tonight I must cook something else for dinner. I remember Dr. Lin advice to give my wife enough nutrients for her baby development. I remember the source for omega-3 which will become DHA mostly found in fish fats. So for tonight dinner menu, I decided to cook some fish dish.
“Wifey, do you like the fish dish?”
“Um, I like fish. The first fish dish that hubby cook when we married I also still remember the taste”
“Ah, right but this time I will cook something different”
“Okay, I believe in hubby’s hand all fish can turn into delicious dish”
“Um, just wait for a while. It’s simple and easy to make the fish dish”
I take some salmon fillet from the refrigerator and melt it before I can cook them. I already have something in my mind on how to cook them. It’s a dish that I called Crispy Salmon with Ginger Soy Sauce
Ingredients for this dish is not much and easy to get at the nearby supermarket
• 2 pieces SizzleFish salmon fillet
• Sea salt
• 3 tablespoons olive oil
• 4 cloves garlic
• 2 teaspoons minced ginger
• 2 green onion, chopped
• 2 teaspoons light soy sauce, or tamari for gluten-free (or to taste)
Cooking Instructions :
1. Check salmon carefully. Use a paring knife to scale the salmon (if any scales remain) and use a pair of fish tweezers to remove pin bones (if necessary). Thoroughly pat dry salmon with the paper towel.
2. Lightly season the skin side of the salmon with sea salt.
3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
4. Place one piece of salmon into the skillet, skin side down. Immediately use a spatula to push the salmon against the skillet and turn to medium-low heat. Let cook for 1 minute without moving your spatula. Continue cooking and move spatula around the salmon to press the fillet firmly and thoroughly, 2 to 3 minutes. When the shape of the skin is set, you can add the second piece of salmon and cook with the same method. Cook salmon until the skin is nicely browned and crispy, and the flesh is mostly cooked through. It takes 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon. Flip and cook the other side until just cooked, 1 minute or less.
5. Transfer fish to serving plate, skin side up.
6. Add 1 teaspoon minced ginger and half the chopped green onion onto each piece of fish.
7. Return the skillet to the stove. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil and garlic. Cook over medium heat until the oil is hot and the garlic is slightly charred on the edges.
8. Remove the skillet from stove and drizzle half of the hot oil and garlic onto each piece of fish. You should hear a nice sizzling. Immediately drizzle 1 teaspoon light soy sauce onto each piece of fish while the oil is still hot.
9. Serve immediately as a main dish.
With only 10-15 minutes to cook this dish, I don’t make Ming Er waiting too long.
“Wifey, here’s the dish for dinner”
“Um, it looks delicious hubby, let’s eat”
After praying we start to eat our dinner, of course, Ming Er takes the pictures of the dish first as usual for her social media account. Ming Er eats this fish dish like a glutton, only take a few minutes to empty her bowl and ask for the second serving.
“Is this dish taste good wifey?”
“Um, delicious. Crispiness from the fish’s skin mixed the sweetness of soy sauce combined with the warm feeling from the ginger make a good composition. Hubby, I like this fish dish very much”
“I’ll make another fish dish tomorrow night if you like it. Fish also good for our baby too”
“Mmm, my hubby is the best”
After finish eats our dinner, wash the utensils, and lock the door, windows then close the curtains, and we go upstairs for rest. Before sleep, Ming Er uploading our dinner picture first in her social media account. After finish with her social media account, as usual, she changes her dress into a sleeping gown. But after taking off her clothes, she didn’t wear the sleeping gown, instead, she asking me that already laying on the bed waiting for her
“Hubby, when my belly will start getting bigger?”
She asking me while rubbing her still flat belly. I, who never have children before can’t answer her question.
“I don’t know wifey, 3 or 4 months of pregnancy maybe?
“Um, I also don’t know. Hubby, I decided to make documentation of my pregnancy. Help me posing hubby”
After asking me that, Ming Er is preparing the camera on the tripod. I rise up from the bed and approaching her.
“What should I help?”
“Help me cover my breast hubby. I want to make my naked picture to compare my belly from month to month. Maybe when our child grow up later I can show her when I’m carrying her in my belly”
“Hmm, okay, that’s sound good”
“Stand here hubby, I want to make sure the angle is right”
After saying that Ming Er goes to the camera and set the camera’s angle by using me as the object. After setting the timer, she runs toward me and asks me to be ready
“Hubby, cover my breast while I cover my crotch”
I cupped my hand over her breast to make it covered from the camera while Ming Er’s hand covers her lower part. After that, she asks me to do the same but the picture will be taken from the right and left side. The picture taking already over after taking the picture from the front left and right side, but my hand still in Ming Er’s breast and fondle it.
“Mmm…hubby, let me take care the camera fist, okay”
I let go of my hand from her breast and let Ming Er take care of the camera and return it to its place in the drawer. After that Ming Er, still wearing nothing, goes to the bed and laying there.
“Hubby…what do you waiting for? Your dish is ready here”
I’m grinning hearing her invitation, without waiting her say twice I jump to the bed to eat my ‘special’ dish. That night ended with special supper as usual like the previous night.
