Reincarnated Legendary Contract Killer - Chapter 36 Escape Pt. 1
“Tyler give me an update on the situation around the warehouse,” Reed asked Tyler. At this moment Reed was standing behind the exit door of the warehouse. He didn’t dare to leave without knowing the situation outside the door.
“The situation around you isn’t pretty. Right now guards are running frantically to see if anyone has trespassed on their property. With this erratic movement of theirs, the chances of you getting caught exiting the premise rises dramatically” Tyler said as he watched the guards below him with his binoculars.
” I knew this part wasn’t going to be easy,” Reed thought of multiple ways to escape but at this moment, only two of them were plausible. The first was to split the hostages in to two groups. Reed would escort the first group off the premise and after that, Reed would go back to the second group and repeat the process. This was sound plan however, this would increase the chances of the second group of being caught since the guards on the outside could easily go inside the warehouse and check on whats going on in the inside.
Knowing that the first plan might not go well, Reed could only go with plan two. Though this plan still increases the chances of being, Reed was confident in able to protect everyone. ” Just keep doing your job and watch my surrounds while I escort the hostages.”
” We’ll try our our hardest to keep you and the hostages safe.”
“What do you plan on doing?” Nina asked Reed. Seeing the changes in his expression, she knew that the escape won’t be easy. However she didn’t care if it was hard, she wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Reed turned to look at Nina and the rest of the hostages,”What I want all of you guys to follow everything I do to the T since a single mistake can cause everyone here to die.” This caused the hostages to shiver a bit and tense up. They too understood how serious a single mistake can cause. If one of them were to fall behind or trip up, he or she might die and cause everyone else to follow suit. “Please nod if you understand.” The hostages nodded. “Alright then, let’s get out of here,” Reed proceeded to open the door beside him and ran out of the door with the hostages right behind him.
Upon seeing the light shine upon their eyes, the hostages winced in pain immediately placed the hand above their eyes to lessen the amount of light from reaching it. If they weren’t in such a dangerous situation, Reed would’ve allowed them to take their time to adapt to the sunlight. However now was not the time since any longer they stayed, the more likely they would get caught. “Unless you want to get caught, I advice you to hurry up.” The hostages immediately snapped out of their daze and followed Reed who was running towards a stack of boxes.
Tyler who was watching Reed and his entourage running towards the boxes noticed a duo of two guard who were coming towards their direction. ” Boss, you have two guards coming your. They are about to pass the intersection between the boxes you’re about to pass.” Reed immediately stopped before the intersection and waited. A moment later footsteps on the oncoming guards could be heard.
Reed turned to the hostages and placed a finger to his lip telling them to keep quiet. As the sound of footsteps got louder as it got closer, Reed brandished the knife in his hand. If by chance Reed and the hostages get spotted when the two guards passed by, Reed could easily dispatch them. The group of hostage’s heart started to thump in their chest hard and fast. They felt as if their heart would jump out of their chest at any second. The thumping and speed of the heart got even faster as the foot steps got louder, making them feel suffocated. It was only until the the footsteps got further did everyone relax and let out a breath of air.
“Are they gone?” one of the hostages asked Reed. Reed peeked his head outside and found the guards were decently distanced from them. He then turned to the hostage hostage and said, ” Yeah they’re gone but that doesn’t mean we’re all safe yet. The exit isn’t that far away though, so let’s hurry and leave this place.”
Reed proceeded and passed the intersection with the hostages following him.
As Reed silently jogged towards the exit where Aily and her team were waiting for them, a light scream sounded behind him. The sound of the scream came from one of the hostages that tripped herself in the center of the of the intersection, right in the open. The hostage immediately clamped her mouth shut with her two hands. However it was too late, the two guards that passed them awhile back heard her scream and ran towards it, spotting the hostage who screamed along with the other hostages.
“Intruders!” The guard on the left shouted and pulled his pistol out alongside the other guard right next to him. At this moment Reed appeared around the corner of the stacked boxes and threw his knife at the guard on the left, piercing his skull, killing him instantly. The guard on the right watched watched this before his very eyes and was shocked for a second. This second of shock would be the very reason of death as the moment he recovered, Reed was already before him.
With a single punch to the guards chest, he immediately caused the guards chest to cave in. The guard spat out a handful blood and fell to the ground.
In the distance Reed could see a guards running towards them. It was clear that the group of guards heard the gun shots fired by the guard killed with a throwing knife.
“Over there!” One of the guards spotted Reed.
Knowing that anymore time dealing with guards would lead to Reed and the hostages death, Reed picked up the pistol from one of the corpses beside him and shot at the guards coming closer, stopping them. He then looked up and saw a crane holding a bunch of boxes in a net. Reed shot the latch keeping the net together, dropping all the boxes on the path in front of him, blocking the guards on the other side from passing.
Watching all the guards go into cover behind the crates, Reed turned around and ran to where the hostages were at. There he found the hostages grouped around the hostage who was shot at. A bloody hole could be seen in her thigh as blood poured out from it, coloring the clothing around it red. It’s clear that this hostage wouldn’t be able to walk without help for awhile.
Time was of the essence and Reed didn’t know what to do with the hostage. Does he leave her behind to insure that he and everyone else escape or does he carry her with him, increasing the chance of him or someone else being injured.
“Lillian hold on, you’ll be fine. The exit to this place isn’t that far. So just hold on. Please Lillian,” One of the hostages was soothing the hostage who was shot, Lillian Myers. Now Reed knew he couldn’t abandon the wounded hostage knowing that the person was Lillian Myers. He made a promise to Conor that he would bring her back safely, a promise he did not think to break.
“Tyler get your team to the extraction point ASAP. Aily have your team attack from the outside to clear the obstacles between you and I. This is gonna be one hell of a hot extraction so everyone be careful and don’t die.” Reed said to Aily and Tyler.
“Got, It.” the two of them replied.
Reed walked over to Lillian, ” Is your name Lillian Myers?” Reed asked. Seeing that her savior knew what her name was, Lillian couldn’t help but look at Reed with a questioning look and asked,
” Yes that is my name, how did you know that?”
Reed smiled, ” Your husband Conor Myers is awaiting for your return.”
A glow lit up in Lillian’s eyes, ” Conor! You know my husband Conor? How is he? He must’ve been worried sick not knowing where I was. I really hope he is well.”
“He is fine at the moment. However if something were to happen to you like dying, I’m sure he would be heart broken and possibly kill himself. So please keep on enduring so that you can see your husband, Conor once again.”
Hearing that Conor was fine Lillian smiled and a surge of energy out of nowhere coursed through her body. ” Yes, to see him once more, I have to endure. However I’m gonna need your help. Lillian pointed at the bullet hole in her thigh.
“I made a promise to Conor that I would bring you back safely. It’ll be my responsibility to carry you until we get to the extraction point.” Reed looked at the bullet hole once more. “Though the promise I made is sort of broken, at least your not in a worst condition.”
Reed picked Lillian and held in the princess style.
“Come on everyone, the exit isn’t that far now.”
