Reincarnation: I Am The Boss - chapter 18
“Follow me! I’ll bring you guys to kill some players and level up!”
After WhiteNightFirefly left, Mohai waved at his bandit goons.
“Yes, leader!” 14 of them answered in one voice, but Mohai sighed softly after he heard their reply. Their answer was too stiff and did not feel as hot-blooded as when he led his guild members into a mission in his past life.
However, his lament lasted just for a moment before anticipation appeared in his eyes.
When he had been a player, he had killed countless monsters, and now, after he was reincarnated on the monster’s side, he could openly kill players, which was quite the experience for him.
With a wave of his hand, Mohai led 14 of his men to travel carefully towards the direction of Guggenheim.
Mohai’s level and stats could easily trample the players at their current levels, but he still had to be careful. After all, other than his own safety, he was leading his men to kill the players for them to level up.
Therefore, he did not plan on offending the big guilds at the moment even though he viewed the three major guilds as his enemies.
The big guilds had a few hundred players in a single party for leveling and there might be backup nearby. Going up against the large guilds’ leveling party, he would easily lose his men to the battle, and if there was backup nearby, the death of half of his goons would be considered a fortunate outcome.
At the current stage, the players would not lose anything upon death, so even if he were to eliminate a few hundred members of the three major guilds, all he would do was slow their leveling speed. It did not hold much meaning. Securing his goons’ level and the progress of his own skill was much more important.
Besides that, he knew at first glance whether the player belonged to the big guilds or not.
Soon enough, Mohai locked his target at a leveling spot with only a dozen players.
“Players in the Monolith Stronghold, be careful. There’s a bandit leader leading a dozen bandit goons roaming around! They are very powerful. I have never seen such a powerful low-level monster before. If you don’t have more than a hundred party members, you’d better run away! They consist of a bandit leader and 14 bandit goons, and are very recognizable!”
On the second day, the game forums in the virtual community were flooded with threads about Origin. Among all the threads, there was an inconspicuous warning thread, but compared to other news and gossip, this thread did not attract much attention.
On the forum, there were already daredevil Thief players who ventured into the Black Witch Forest and the Magma Cave and screenshot the figures of the two Bosses. Therefore, an Elite bandit leader did not really pique people’s interest.
‘How lousy are you people? Do you need a hundred players in a party to deal with an Elite plus a dozen goons?’
‘I know, right? It’s not like you guys rushed into the depths of the Monolith Stronghold and got surrounded by monsters. If they come out from their territory, the only threatening one is just the bandit leader. Let me tell you an easy way to deal with them: send a Knight to tank it while the Sorcerers scatter and attack. It will be dead in no time.’
‘I wish I could run into the bandit leader. It’s Level 10, which means it might drop Black Iron equipment, and if you are lucky, the drop rate will be good!’
The comments left on the thread were mostly unfriendly comments or sneers.
‘Hmph! I’m just doing a PSA. You people will know what I am talking about when you encounter the bandit leader!’ The thread owner was angered by the vicious comments.
‘Hahaha, come on then! I can’t wait!’
‘You people are brainless! The thread owner is a girl and you’re teasing her like that? What I am trying to say is…Do you want to go on a date with me? I have 10 figures in my virtual community credits!’
‘Tsk! Think before you boast, dumbsh*t! The so-called “hundred” figure behind the decimal point is useless! Noob!’
…
The thread was quickly drowned by ridiculing comments, but two hours after the thread was posted, the comments came back different.
‘Holy sh*t! I’m sorry, thread owner! I met that bandit leader that you mentioned, and I got wiped out!’
‘You too? Damn it, my party too! That bandit leader is sick! Our attacks didn’t even hit him!’
‘It’s not just the bandit leader, but those goons are very smart as well. Our daily farming techniques didn’t even work on them.’
‘I had it worse than you people! That bandit leader jumped on me and cast [Heavy Bash]. My best equipment, the Black Iron necklace was snatched! I’m bleeding here!’
‘Sh*t! Was your equipment snatched too? One of our Warriors got targeted as well, and it’s some great item that we can’t equip yet! We thought he was trying to take it for himself!’
…
[Activity Log]
Bandit goon No. 4: Loyalty +1
Bandit goon No. 6: Loyalty +1
Bandit goon No. 3: Loyalty +1
It had been three hours since Mohai brought his goons to kill players around the Monolith Stronghold, and a few hundred players had died by their hand.
Compared to the legion of players, the number was nothing stellar and that thread in the game forum back at the virtual community remained unpopular.
After all, being killed by monsters at the early stage of the game was normal. The footage of Mohai stealing the bandit leader’s kill yesterday garnered even more attention.
During his hunt for players, Mohai used [Heavy Bash] and [Snatch] frequently, but unless he saw some decent equipment, he would not take it.
If he went overboard with the snatching, he would certainly raise doubts in the players’ hearts, so if he only stole one or two pieces of equipment from a group of players, the players would only blame their luck.
The XP needed for the Level 5 bandit goons to reach Levels 6 and 7 were not that much, but reaching Level 8 required more than that. Thankfully, after killing a few hundred players, all the bandit goons leveled up.
Of course, the reason why they were able to level up smoothly was that Mohai intentionally lowered the players’ HP to a minimal level and they would then jump in to secure the kill.
If Mohai took the kill, he would not get any XP and the bandit goons would not get a share either.
Similar to what happened to the late bandit leader yesterday, he had killed 200 over players, but none of the goons around him leveled up.
After the Level 5 bandit goons leveled up to Level 8, Mohai opened his activity log to check on the changes in his goons.
The requirements for the Level 5 bandit goons to level up their templates should be the same as his, so he had to pay extra attention to this.
To his surprise, he saw that all the Level 8 bandit goons had an extra stat for Loyalty. As he had once been a bandit goon, he knew that common bandit goons did not have any Loyalty for their leader.
“Since they’ve gained Loyalty, betraying me is less likely to happen while killing me and taking over my position is impossible now, which means there are some other possibilities for the second leveling requirement!”
Mohai thought about it. A common bandit goon would never betray his leader, and after gaining Loyalty, it was even more impossible.
It seemed like he had to spend more time studying this, but now, Mohai prioritized the special ability, [Ruler].
As expected, bringing his goons to level up did increase the [Ruler] XP bar, so it had reached 28%!
If he continued leveling them up and giving them a full set of equipment, upgrading the special ability was just a matter of time!
…
“What’s the meaning of this? This leveling spot belongs to us, the Blooming Dream. We were here first!”
“You were here first? We were here even earlier! We just went back for some supplies and left it idle for a while!”
At Maple Forest, in a spot outside Guggenheim, the red maple leaves blanketed the ground with two groups of players facing each other and they reeked of gunpowder.
One of the groups was the leveling party of the Blooming Dream. FallenMoon and LadyDragon were there.
Looking at the intruders who seemed to plan to loot the leveling spot from the Blooming Dream, FallenMoon frowned slightly.
Had this been in the past, she would have used the Blooming Dream’s reputation to send the competition away, but now, because of DancingSandstorm, the opposing party did not even take her seriously.
FallenMoon even suspected that they had been instigated by DancingSandstorm to disrupt her guild’s leveling. Given how despicable Playboy was, it was not a surprise.
“What’s happening there?”
At the same time, a leveling party of 200 players slowly moved towards the conflict.
“Leader GrayFox, it seems like someone is trying to loot the Blooming Dream’s leveling spot.”
“Are FallenMoon and LadyDragon there? Let’s go have a look.”
GrayFox was a steady young man. He overflowed with an expert’s temperament and he stood out from the rest of the players. The players in his party respected him, but he was not proud or arrogant at all.
As he concentrated his gaze, he recognized FallenMoon and LadyDragon further away. He and his party then walked over to find out what happened.
“FallenMoon, LadyDragon, it’s been a while.” GrayFox did not jump in to ask what happened. Instead, he greeted the two ladies.
“Brother GrayFox!” FallenMoon was slightly surprised by his appearance.
“GrayFox!”
The other group of players who were here to cause trouble were just as shocked by GrayFox’s appearance.
“I heard what happened. That Sandstorm guy is just egoistic. Let’s go meet him if you have the time, and I’ll tell him to step down peacefully. I believe he won’t cause any trouble anymore.”
GrayFox turned a blind eye to the troublemaker and continued talking to FallenMoon.
“GrayFox, step away. This is none of your business!” a player ran out of patience and growled fiercely.
“None of my business? Even if they aren’t my friends, if there’s something we, the Fortune Alliance, care about, it will be our business!”
A ferocious glare flashed across GrayFox’s eyes. He tried his best to show that he and FallenMoon had an unusual relationship, yet the bunch of troublemakers did not read the situation properly.
“Hmph! I’ve heard of you, GrayFox. Now, it’s time for me to see how powerful you are!” A voice came from the troublemaker’s party and a petite player dashed out and jumped towards him.
A one-on-one?
The players from the Fortune Alliance grabbed their weapons and wanted to step in after they saw someone start the fight, but since it was just a petite player and GrayFox did not ask for help, they were only on standby.
Was a nameless player trying to fight GrayFox one-on-one? It was like asking for an insult!
GrayFox did not show a strong response to the enemy who jumped on him and he was calm.
He had built his confidence over a long period of time, so even if this player was currently the strongest player in the game, he was not afraid. He currently had the strongest weapon in the game and every player would fall to his power!
What? Damn it! I got careless!
All of a sudden, GrayFox’s face turned bitter.
