Reincarnation: I Am The Boss - chapter 31
“Go down from here.”
DeepSea followed Mohai to a certain magma crevice. If it was not for Mohai leading the way, she would never have thought the underground passage to Bovella Manor would be hidden under the magma crevice.
The passage was not tight. It was 2 meters wide in fact, but the entrance and exit were a little small and inconspicuous, so it was rather difficult for people to notice.
The passage was actually a lava river with sidewalks on both sides. The sidewalks were barely big enough for two people to cross at the same time.
Even though there were no torches or any light source in the passage, the flowing lava lit up the place and the only downside was the ridiculous heat.
Soon, two flaming clones appeared and charged towards the two of them.
The flaming clones that guarded Bovella Manor came in different classes. There were Shield Warriors, Flaming Archers, and Flaming Sorcerers, three classes in total.
Regardless of their classes, all the flaming clones had high Attack, their HPs were around 1,000 to 1,500. If they attacked trespassers together with their combined attacks, they could be quite a tough opponent to deal with.
The same went for the clones at the surface, HundredLivesAsMan and his party were locked in a fierce fight with the flaming clones.
Even if they came prepared and had the advantage of numbers, they would still have to depend on luck to defeat Bovella’s clones.
The flaming clones in Bovella Manor appeared in a unique pattern. The total number of clones that could respawn was fixed. If the players entered the manor from the surface, the flaming clones would only appear at the surface; if the players entered through the underground passage, the number of flaming clones in the passage would be overwhelming.
HundredLivesAsMan and his party had taken most of the attention at the surface, thus there were only a small number of flaming clones appeared in front of Mohai and DeepSea.
Hence, Mohai was not anxious when the flaming clones were charging at him.
He could not overtake the Elemental Tower on the surface. Otherwise, when the flaming clones respawned, the underground passage would be filled with them.
The two flaming clones were no threat to Mohai and DeepSea, but one of them was a Flaming Sorcerer, and Mohai’s Magical Defence was lower than his other stats. The Flaming Sorcerer inflicted quite some damage on him. He lost around 2,000 HP before he took out the two flaming clones.
“I wish we had a Priest with us here,” said DeepSea.
“No, the Priest will only hold us back.” Mohai shook his head.
Monsters and players were different. Players could consume potions to recover their HP, but for monsters, other than a limited amount of special potions that would only appear in a certain story mission, they could not consume potions.
Mohai had acquired some potions after killing thousands of players but he could not use any of them.
However, monsters had something better than players. After getting out of a conflict, the monster’s HP would recover rapidly on its own.
Mohai lost more than 1,000 HP in the fight with the flaming clones, but a while after the battle, his HP recovered exponentially.
“Okay…” DeepSea nodded. This bandit leader did not act like a monster at all. She even forgot that he was on the monster’s side.
The two of them had to pause at times, so they could not travel fast. Other than killing the clones, there were also occasional traps.
Mohai knew the locations of some traps but not all of them. If he was just a player with a few hundred HP, of course, he would have to carefully avoid them all and figure out a way to go around them.
However, as an Elite monster with 7,000 HP and after making sure that the traps would not kill him in one hit, Mohai simply triggered the traps and endured the damage. All he needed to do was get out of the situation and he could recover fully after a while.
DeepSea followed Mohai closely and was impressed by how powerful the monster’s regeneration rate was. She was happy to work together with him, and if possible, she really wanted to partner the monster for leveling so that she would not have to worry about her recovery anymore.
A monster also had another perk: aggro radius.
Mohai had an aggro radius of 70 meters which enabled him to know the situation on the surface while being underground. He could make sure that he would not surpass the Elemental Tower’s party.
On top of that, some of the flaming clones were hiding in the lava river and would ambush players when they crossed the river. However, Mohai’s aggro radius was wide enough to detect the clones, so he was able to read every move the clones made.
Around 20 minutes later, Mohai and DeepSea made it to the end of the passage and reached a spacious ancient stone room.
The stone room did not have any light source and the ground was too dark for a clearer look. However, in the center of the room was a stone table on which something glowed red faintly.
Other than that, Mohai even spotted slumbering stone clones in all four corners of the room. He believed that if he and DeepSea stepped into the room, they would be attacked by the stone clones.
At the same time, HundredLivesAsMan and StreetRoamingRat had reached the backyard of Bovella Manor on the surface.
After Bovella left, the magic barrier was deactivated, so the backyard was long charred, leaving only some burnt stumps and twigs there.
Beside the charred stump in the middle of the backyard was a Sorcerer in red robes with five flaming clones around him. The red-robed Sorcerer was Bovella’s clone and he was the Elemental Tower’s target.
“The b*stards from Playboy have resurrected and are making their way here. We are running out of time. Listen to your orders and get him!” HundredLivesAsMan shouted.
The folks from Playboy were dutiful. While the Elemental Tower was fighting in Bovella Manor, those from Playboy ran back to their dead bodies in their soul forms for resurrection.
Even though FireWolf and his team tried to stop Playboy, they could not stall them for long.
However, Bovella’s clone was only a Level 15 Elite, and the Elemental Tower had paid the price to bribe a related NPC for a way to effectively deal with the clone, so with more than 150 players on their team, it was impossible that they could not kill it.
“Lure the mobs away first, but don’t kill them yet.” StreetRoamingRat started to give orders.
The mobs around Bovella’s clone were special because killing them could reduce the clone’s HP. Each dead mob could reduce 5% of Bovella’s clone HP, so killing five of them would instantly reduce 25% of the clone’s HP.
If the party wanted to reduce the pressure and decide to take out the mobs first, they would never kill Bovella’s clone.
When Bovella’s clone’s HP reached 50%, it would enter [Bloodthirsty] mode and all the enemies within its aggro radius would be linked with a red line. The clone would then stop attacking. Instead, it would start to absorb the player’s HP. To end the [Bloodthirsty] state, Bovella’s clone HP must be lowered to 40%, and it would be better to do it as soon as possible.
The lower the HP was, the stronger Bovella’s clone absorption rate would be. If the players only inflicted normal damage to the clone before its HP reached 40%, the players would die from the blood-sucking regardless of how many players there were and Bovella’s clone would recover to full HP.
The only way around this was to lower the HP of Bovella’s clone to 48% and then kill two of the mobs that were lured away at the same time.
Bovella’s clone had another stronger [Bloodthirsty] form at 20% HP, so killing the remaining mobs then could easily kill the clone.
The strategy might sound easy on paper, but the execution was not that easy.
The five mobs around Bovella’s clone were not weak by any means. One of them was a Flaming Priest that could buff everyone’s HP within his radius, hence the players must learn how to control the mobs’ HP.
At the same time, Bovella’s clone could also attack with all kinds of spells. Despite being only a Level 15 Elite, it probably had more offensive spells than most of the low-level Bosses.
Therefore in Mohai’s mind, Bovella’s clone might be an Elite with super templates but was much more powerful than its peers.
Without the strategy info from the NPC, even HundredLivesAsMan and his party would have to go through the mill. Still, since they already knew the way, the fight was a lot easier. Bovella’s clone HP was gradually dropping.
“These Adventurers are quite capable. I’ll make my move when it’s time!”
HundredLivesAsMan and his party were concentrating on the fight with Bovella’s clone. They did not notice a blue fox lying down on the roof of the manor, watching them with a lazy gaze.
In the underground passage, there was also another monster that was watching their every move.
Neither did Mohai know the blue fox at the rooftop nor did the blue fox detect Mohai the bandit leader.
Both of them were within each other’s aggro radius, but they only assumed that the other was a random mob in the manor.
