Reincarnation: I Am The Boss - chapter 54
The Magma Golem finally revealed why he was after Mohai.
It seemed like this bandit race had a future that he did not know of. It even scared the two big Bosses.
It was not their fault either. In fact, in his past life, Mohai already found the skillset of the bandit leader a little bit ridiculous.
There were other skills that could snatch other people’s items and gears but not as straightforward as the bandit leader’s skill, it was safe to say the bandit leader’s skill was one of a kind.
However, the bandit leader’s level was too low. Even if he had a powerful skill to snatch items and gears, he could not put it to use.
Judging from what the Magma Golem said, the Bandit Lord was much more powerful than Mohai expected which raised his anticipation to the day he leveled up to it. It was quite an exciting thing to look forward to.
“Now that I’ve answered your question, hand over the things so that I can kill you for good!” bellowed the Magma Golem.
“You want my things? Dream on!” Mohai grinned. After getting his answers from the Magma Golem, courtesy was no longer needed.
“Hmph! I knew it! Get him! Be careful not to kill him before you snatch him clean!” Unsurprised, the Magma Golem waved and told the Fire Raven to bring the bandit leaders in.
“You guys had better watch out. I’ll be back,” said Mohai as he glanced over at the Magma Golem and the Black Witch as more and more monsters surrounded him.
“Tsk! What a talker! Do you think you can escape from us? Stop dreaming! With our Lord and Lady Black Witch here, no one can save you!” said the Fire Raven.
It spoke what was on the minds of all the monsters around them, including the Magma Golem and the Black Witch.
Unless some powerful Boss came in and saved Mohai, no matter how powerful he was as a bandit leader, it was impossible for him to escape. It was also the reason why the Magma Golem answered Mohai’s question. He was heavily surrounded, so he might really give up out of despair.
“I don’t need anyone to save me. I can just leave on my own.” Mohai grinned before a beam of light enveloped him whole.
‘Man, talking big really feels good. It’s no wonder so many people like it.’
The monsters who surrounded Mohai, including the two big Bosses the Magma Golem and the Black Witch, were shocked when he disappeared right before their eyes. Mohai felt great when he saw the disbelief on their faces the second he disappeared.
A little pause later, the Magma Golem regained his senses and started to shout furiously, “What happened? Where is he?! Spread out and search all over the Monolith Stronghold. He shouldn’t be far!”
“Black Witch, tell your men to search as well. He said it himself. If he becomes a lord, he won’t let us live in peace. I think you’d better teleport there if any of your men locate him. That way, he won’t be able to escape,” said the Magma Golem to the Black Witch.
The Black Witch could use her teleportation ability even outside the Black Witch Forest, but the cooldown would be longer. As a life-saving skill, she did not want to simply waste it.
“I’ll think about it.” Although the Black Witch did not give a clear answer but she did send her men to search for Mohai around the Monolith Stronghold.
The two of them were afraid of Mohai anyway. He was already this cunning before he even became a lord, and once he became the third lord in this region, the two of them would never get a day of peace anymore.
Despite the two Bosses almost turning the Monolith Stronghold upside down, they did not find Mohai. In fact, apart from Mohai, all of Mohai’s bandit leaders were nowhere to be found.
…
While the two big Bosses were searching for him, Mohai appeared beside No. 13.
The Ghost flew over and checked on him nervously. “Boss, you are back! Are you okay?”
After Mohai got back from the meeting with the Black Witch, he had told his men to leave the Monolith Stronghold. The bandit leaders crossed the White Hawk Plains and reached the Quicksand Mines.
“Of course, I’m fine.” Mohai smiled to calm his men down. “I guess I can’t use the Traveler’s Ring in the near future anymore.”
A glowing ring in Mohai’s hand swiftly turned dark. It was this Traveler’s Ring that had allowed him to escape from the two big Bosses’ attack.
A Traveler’s Ring was a special ring without any stats, and items without stats were known as ancillary gears by the players. Ancillary gears did not have stats and rankings, but they usually came with one or two extra abilities.
Most of the ancillary gears had one special ability while only extremely rare ones had two.
The Traveler’s Ring that Mohai had was an extremely rare kind with two special abilities and it was a NPC exclusive.
The two special abilities were extremely powerful.
The first ability allowed him to teleport himself to his own Reincarnation Pool or to one of his subordinates by consuming all the energy in the ring.
The second ability, which consumed one bar of energy, could summon one of his subordinates to him.
The Traveler’s Ring had seven energy bars. Each bar would automatically recover within a day, but it could be accelerated by killing a large number of players.
This powerful ring was not a spoil from killing the players or a reward from the treasure chests.
Mohai felt something was amiss on the day that the Magma Golem came to the Monolith Stronghold. He believed that the Magma Golem wanted more than just the mission scroll, or else, he would not be this anxious.
If it was the Magma Golem alone, he might have been able to turn it around, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, the other Boss, the Black Witch, came after him as well and he was no longer safe in the Monolith Stronghold.
Therefore, after some deep thoughts, Mohai used the mission scroll he got from DeepSea and did the necessary preparations while the Ghost stole from the Magma Golem.
Mohai thought that the mission scroll would allow him to perform the mission in other regions and he would no longer be tied to the Monolith Stronghold as he actually planned to leave the place once things went south.
However, the mission scroll’s objective was simple. It only required him to kill players in the Monolith Stronghold.
The mission was simple, but Mohai could choose the difficulty level. From the lowest Rank F to the highest Rank S, he could choose which difficulty to complete!
After he went through all the mission requirements and the corresponding rewards, he chose the most difficult Rank S without a second thought.
A Rank S mission required him or his men to kill 5,000 Adventurers within 24 hours.
It was an impossible feat even for a Boss, let alone a bandit leader, who was only an Elite. However, it was not that difficult for Mohai. It was easy, in fact.
He was able to kill 5,000 Adventurers in less than half a day.
Since the mission was almost impossible to complete, the reward they could get from it was exceptional.
After he completed the mission, he was able to choose three rewards from a list of ten. In the end, Mohai picked the ancillary gear, the Traveler’s Ring, and two chances to ask the system a question about his race.
Mohai actually went to meet the Black Witch after he got the Traveler’s Ring which boosted his confidence a lot. During the meeting, he noticed that the Black Witch’s attitude and the contract were not right, but he did not say anything, especially about the contract.
The cunning Black Witch ensured that the contract she provided leaned towards her favor so that she could violate the contract whenever she wanted and would never be punished.
Mohai noticed the particular point when he received the contract, but he did not say anything.
Based on his understanding of the Bosses in the game, Mohai knew that the Magma Golem would go to the Black Witch for help.
He beat the Magma Golem to meet the Black Witch just so he could try to persuade her to help him. It would be great if she did, but it was no surprise if she betrayed him in the end. After all, he could not stop her either.
At night, the Magma Golem and the Witch appeared together, so Mohai had taken the chance to run to them instead. Otherwise, the two Bosses would have taken a while to locate him in his own territory.
