Reincarnation: I Am The Boss - chapter 56
Mohai was quite surprised to run into these two little girls here in the Quicksand Mines. He did not know they were from Guggenheim, or more precisely, not many players knew about that fact.
‘What are their names again? The Fruit Sisters? SummerFruit…Winterberry? No, no, the younger sister is SummerFruit, but the elder sister is WinterSnow.’
Mohai finally remembered their names. The players who were interested in these two lolis had first heard of the younger sister’s name, SummerFruit, so they thought that her elder sister would have a Fruit or a Berry in her name. To everyone’s surprise, her elder sister’s name was WinterSnow, but the theory of them being sisters was verified.
Mohai sized the two of them up carefully right after they appeared. He finally understood why many players in the game were their fans.
Both of them shared cute doll-like faces with tiny noses and petite mouths. Their eyes were bright but firm. They looked so alike that even with Mohai’s observation, he could not tell who was younger and who was older.
While Mohai sized them up, the two lollies’ [Stun] status faded and they jumped towards No. 11 without a word. Because No. 11 had a little HP left, if any one of the two lolis landed a touch on him, he would be dead.
“Kill them,” Mohai said without a second thought.
The bandit leaders were on standby, and after Mohai gave the order, they jumped on the two little girls, slashing them to smithereens.
“Leave their things and move out.”
The two lolis’ gears and potions fell upon their death, but Mohai stopped the Ghost from looting the spoils.
“Okay.’ The Ghost found it strange though he did not ask why as he knew Mohai must have his reasons.
The group moved forward. The monsters in the Quicksand Mines were endless, but under Mohai’s command, they were able to fend off the danger and press on.
Bam!
An hour after the two little lollies were killed, one of Mohai’s bandit leaders dropped to a low level of HP again and the two pesky girls ambushed them once more.
This time around, they hid among the sand wolves and skeletons and almost caught Mohai off-guard.
However, Mohai was still able to stop the two little lolis’ attack before they could land the final blow on the weakening bandit leader. Since they were still surrounded by monsters, he killed the two little lolis again without a second thought.
Similar to the first meeting, Mohai still did not pick up the spoils from their death.
Another hour later, the two pesky lolis returned and attacked.
‘I knew it.’
Mohai finally got an answer to the question in his heart after the third attack.
SummerFruit and WinterSnow must be the Fallen who the players talked about.
The Fallen was what the NPC knights at the Temple called them. In short, they were players who joined the monsters’ side.
The Fallen were mysterious without a clear description of the perks of becoming one, but there were a few theories that the masses recognized.
They would not be attacked by normal monsters and could communicate with most of the monsters out there. On top of that, if they died in the wild, their souls could be revived in the wild as well, so floating back to their dead bodies would be a lot easier and convenient.
These three perks alone would move a lot of players’ hearts, but the cost of becoming one usually stopped them.
After becoming a Fallen, players were restricted from entering certain important buildings in the game, like the guildhall. Once they did so, they would be discovered and other NPC or players would react in hostility.
Once a Fallen was discovered, he or she would be hunted down by the Temple, and any player could accept a mission from the Temple to assist the hunt. The reward of killing a Fallen would be a few times better than taking down a powerful Boss.
When a Fallen was killed by players who accepted the mission from the Temple, the character would face permanent death. Revival was no longer an option, and if they wanted to play the game, they would have to create another account and start from square one.
It was probably the worst death penalty in the game, or at least, what players knew of.
Mohai felt strange when he saw the two lolis.
The two of them were at Level 11 at the most, and moving around the Quicksand Mines, even with [Stealth], was impossible.
Mohai was certain during the second ambush. The two lolis revived too quickly and the monsters did not attack them.
No wonder the two lolis never joined any guild in the past and always wandered around by themselves. They barely showed up in public other than assassinating other players.
The two lolis must have accepted some mission to kill Mohai or his bandit leaders, but it was impossible for them to ambush the well-prepared Mohai.
His experience was far beyond theirs combined.
During the third attack, Mohai killed the two of them quicker than before. The two of them did their best to dodge but failed to avoid the fatal attacks.
He left the two dead bodies behind and still did not loot their gears. The gears from the two little lolis were nothing stellar and were useless to him. Getting geared up at the current stage was not a simple task and without their gear, the two lolis might have to give up their mission and go back which was not what Mohai wanted to see.
He had never seen a Fallen throughout the five years in the game. The number of Fallens out there was self-explanatory. He did not want to let the two lolis escape after finding out about what they were.
A while after Mohai left, the two lolis were revived.
“Sis, that monster is really strong. We can’t take him down.” The younger sister, SummerFruit, was picking up her things and squatting down, looking all depressed and moody. After three consecutive failures and all their efforts falling short at the last minute, she was a little shocked.
“Don’t worry. He’s just a monster, he will eventually show his flaws. We will eventually succeed if we try harder,” WinterSnow consoled.
“Okay! Let’s work harder!” SummerFruit raised a petite punch and the two of them went after Mohai.
Unfortunately, the two of them failed for the fourth time, the fifth, and so on.
Not only were they defeated by the number of failures, but their level of confidence decreased as they felt they were straying even further from success.
“No! We can’t win! Why is that monster so powerful?”
On their eighth revival attempt, SummerFruit rolled around in the hot sand, sulking.
WinterSnow sat down with her hands on her legs. She looked at her sister with a tilted head, wondering how they should kill the bandit leaders.
When they received the mission, they thought that with the monsters’ help, killing a few bandit leaders with Nomad status would be easy. They just had to seize the chance and follow up with a successful attack.
They even worried about the bandit leaders dying in the monsters’ hands before they arrived, but things turned out completely differently. These bandit leaders were countless times stronger than they expected.
After SummerFruit was done rolling around, she bolted up and tapped the sand off her clothes. “Ok, Sis, let’s continue!”
“Let’s go.” WinterSnow nodded. She could not think of an effective way to take the bandit leaders down at the moment, but sitting there and doing nothing was not a solution. They might be able to find a way if they engaged the bandit leaders more.
In the spacious desert land, a group of bandit leaders slaughtered their way through endless waves of sand wolves and skeletons furiously with two cute little lolis jumping out only to die to their merciless slashes.
Such a scene lasted for a whole day.
The day was turning dark and Mohai had his eyes on a large sand wolves’ den.
“Kill it!”
They had actually passed by several large sand wolves’ den on the way, but the large sand wolves did not attack them. Unlike the normal sand wolves that spawned endlessly, the large sand wolves were Elites and had a certain level of intellect. They were afraid of Mohai who had 9 Notoriety points. Even though he was a Nomad, the large sand wolves did nothing but cautiously stare at him.
In the end, they stepped down because they knew he was too powerful.
When the sky got darker, Mohai decided to kill a sand wolf and occupy its Reincarnation Pool.
It could not be helped because he had been fighting for 30 plus hours continuously. If he did not rest soon, the game would force him to enter Rest mode.
