Reincarnation of the Cheater - Chapter 50:Goblin's Rage (13)
Instead of using words I felt it would be better to just nod and Finn and Shin both agree that we will be leaving. As I go to activate the word I move my finger towards Finn and Shin before they connect with me and activate the word sending them back to Finn’s basement array where we came from. The word activates and they start to phase out of existence as they return back to the basement. Confirming that they have left I turn to the dungeon boss Goblin Lord and look at his surprised face.
“Why are you not leaving human?” The Goblin Lord asks as he looks confusingly at me.
“I believe that I can help you in your current situation.” I say after thinking about how to go about this.
Upon hearing me the Goblin Lord became even more confused and asked, “And what is it that you can help me with?”
“I believe that I have thought of a way to kill you.” I answer after seeing his status once more. Every time I see the status and the skill world travel that has leveled to the 34th level I get a painful feeling in my heart. Just knowing that there are people out there who are stuck in an endless loop of despair really kills my heart. If I ever run into any of these people I’ve decided if they allow it to take on their pain while relieving them of theirs.
“And on what grounds do you believe that you can kill me? I don’t understand how you can to know about my curse but since you know about it you should also understand that I’ve tried everything already and have lost any hope. I’ve tried the priests class cure, the world tree’s sap, the fountain of youth, and I’ve even tried other curses. Nothing has worked for thousands of years and now a human child believes that he can give me death. And how do you think you can give me my wish.” The Goblin Lord Shiv says laughing at me for even trying but still wants to hear about the method on how I think I could achieve it.
“I have the ability to steal skills so all I have to do is steal your Immortal Soul skill and then you can finally die.” I answer to him revealing one of my ultimate abilities. It may seem like a stupid thing to do but I feel that since he would end up dying if it works then no one would find out anyways.
“So that’s why on the Seventh and Eighth Floor their skills stopped working and they became distraught. I may be on the Tenth Floor but I’m the boss of the Dungeon so I’m connected somewhat with all of the lifeforms in this Dungeon. It’s true that the way you thought of just might work but wouldn’t that make you take my place in this suffering instead? Why would you do that for a stranger?” The Goblin Lord questions me not understanding why I would take the suffering in his place.
“That’s easy. It’s because I have a way to delete my skills. Skills that I have to need for or ones that I find irrelevant I could erase them like I never even had them in the first place. So using the same principle I wouldn’t have an immortal soul because I got rid of the skill.” After explaining my method to free him from his thousand years of suffering his confusion clears up and he becomes more acute.
“Go ahead and try it then, I have nothing to lose in this situation.” The Goblin King says as he agrees to my help and lowers his guard.
This may be a quick decision for him but it is probably the only time I can actually confirm if this would work. I should be able to recycle it and gain some tickets from it. I don’t know what kind of tickets I would get from it but there is a possibility of getting something really good from this.
“Alright, sit still and I’ll tell you when I’m done.”
‘Skill Steal “Immortal Soul”‘
[Activating skill… Stealing skill from target… Done]
[Congratulations the skill “Immortal Soul (Lv.Max) has been acquired]
[Warning! A change in the soul has been detected. Running diagnostics… Done.]
[The results of diagnostics is that the soul has changed types from ??? to undying. No matter what happens you will not be able to fully die, upon death you will be resurrected after some time in a perfect state.]
‘System go ahead and recycle the skill Immortal Soul.’
The reason I want to get rid of the skill is that having that skill would lead to despair no matter how you think about it. I would outlive all of my friends, people would be suspicious of me because I never age, and I would have to cover it up by moving and never having a place I could call home for long.
[Recycling… Done]
[Recycling the skill “Immortal Soul” has earned you 1 Shop Ticket(Low).]
[The Shop Ticket is a ticket that allows you to get one free item from the shop. The current Shop Ticket is limited to a low amount of System Points. Anything 2000 System Points and under can be purchased for free.]
“I’ve finished. How about you? Do you feel any different?” I ask looking up at the Goblin Lord Shiv.
“Yes, after a thousand years I eventually began to feel my soul wasn’t decaying like it was supposed to and after having it tested throughout many worlds I found that it had the undying property. I was stuck in an endless loop of world traveling instead of reviving in the same world so I had many people try to help me out. Who knew that trying to become evil and taking over a Goblin Lord’s body would have led me to what I was hoping for. I thank you Silver Haired Adventurer, for releasing me and for risking yourself in case the deletion of the skill didn’t work. This may be selfish but I have one more wish, please finish the job. This Goblin Lord no longer has the strength to move.” The Goblin Lord says as he lays on the ground as his soul slowly starts decaying throughout the thousand years that it should have.
Feeling happy that I could help him and relieve him of his suffering I decided to end this with what a Goblin Slayer should say.
