Reincarnation of the Cheater - Chapter 52:Donating To The Church
In front of the Library, there’s a commotion and all the people go to see what it is. While they all get up to go check it out I continue to read through the book ignoring the commotion at the front of the Library my head starts to throb and some pain arrives as if it was there in the first place. This is probably the thing that Finn mentioned. An array I think? As my head continues to throb more and more things continue to go through my head. A woman’s figure continuously shows up in my mind but I can’t make the face out. All I see is a figure that looks photoshopped and censored. Eventually, my headache calms down and my head stops throbbing but I still can’t remember the face of the woman.
Getting up to go check the commotion outside since my time was almost up. I walked to the entrance of the library only to see a crowd surrounding a guard that caught a little kid. They’re in front of the church as the guard has a hold on the little kid.
“Let me go!” The kid yells as he continues to try and get free from the guard’s grip.
“No, I told you all to stop stealing from the stalls and you continued to do so.” The guard says as the crowd makes way and they head into the church.
As the crowd disperses I found the librarian and I give the ticket back to him and as I leave I decide to head towards the church and walk in the open front door. The people of the church aren’t here right now and it’s probably because of the guard bringing a kid here. I guess they’re running an orphanage like a lot of churches. After some loud talking, a door towards the back opens and the guard from earlier and a priestess follows after.
“Thank you for bringing him back, I will make sure he will go and work off the debt of the things he stole.” The Priestess says as she slightly bows and bids farewell to the guard.
“It’s fine, if it was another guard who didn’t know your circumstances then he would have put the thief in the local jail and he would have been forced to do manual work until it was paid for. They seem like good kids so try and keep an eye out on them.” The guard says as he turns around and notices my presence.
The guard and the priestess both notice me as the guard starts to walk towards the entrance.
“Is there something I can help you with?” The Priestess says she walks over.
“Yeah, I’d like to pay for that kid. Is that fine?” I answer while looking at the guard.
The guard realizes that I’m talking to him so he answers, “Yeah, that’s fine as long as the owner gets his money. That’ll be 30 copper coins.” The guard says.
“Sure, here you are.” I say taking 40 copper coins out of my pocket I hand it to him.
“There’s some extra.” The guard says while eyeing me closely.
“It’s for the seller. Make sure to tell him that the kid is sorry.” I say while insisting he takes it.
“Alright, see you later.” The guard says to the Priestess as he waves and leaves.
“Thank you, sir, for your kindness.” The Priestess says as she bows.
“No problem, I was planning to ask you guys if you take donations.” I ask as I get ready to take out some money.
“Yes, we do. How much will you be donating and will you like to be recognized for this or would you like this donation to be anonymous?” The Priestess says as she grabs some papers from a desk nearby.
“I would like this to be anonymous, and I have 30 coins here for you.” I say as I hand her the Gold coins that I took out of the inventory and put in my pocket.
“Thank you for your donation, you may want this to be anonymous but thank you for your help. Any amount can help when feeding the children.” She says as she grabs the coins and writes down the amount.
“It looks like having an orphanage is costly so make sure to use that money on the kids. I’ll be back to donate once again at a later date.” I say as I leave the church and head towards the blacksmith’s shop that Finn told me about earlier.
The Priestess waves goodbye as I head out and then she looks down at the coins I gave her.
“Even copper coins could let us feed them for a couple of days at least.” She says as she looks down and notices that the coins look a bit different than copper coins.
“Wait, these aren’t copper. Sir, are you sure you wish to donate this much?” Upon noticing that the coins are gold coins the priestess tries to chase after me and call after me but I made sure that I was out of sight before I left.
After walking for some time I reach the blacksmith shop and head in since there aren’t any people currently here. In the blacksmith’s shop, there are some weapons on display as the sound of a hammer hitting metal echoes throughout the shop.
“Hello, what can I do for you?” I hear the blacksmiths loud voice over the sounds of the hammer and metal.
“I’m looking for a dagger or something so I can dismantle monsters, also I need some maintenance on this sword.” I answer thinking that I might as well as stop using my silver sword for dismantling and handing him the silver sword as I can tell it has become dull over time.
As the blacksmith takes the silver sword and hands me a dagger he inspects the silver sword.
“It’ll be 70 copper for the dagger and the maintenance will be 1 silver so that’ll be 1 Silver and 70 Copper.” he says after inspecting the sword for a while.
‘Maybe it’ll be a good source of income if I learn blacksmithing as well.’
