Reincarnation of the Cheater - Chapter 67:Beginnings of A Monster
With both the old men taking their seats next to the elder who first decided to be a judge the elder said, “Then let us begin this fight.” he says with a disappointed look on his face as he sits there with his hand holding up his face.
‘I guess he was looking forward to something but know that the other elders came it isn’t possible?’ The voice of the original inhabitant of this body continues to think to himself not taking
“Alright then, let’s get started.” the guy says as his aura rises and he rushes straight at me.
Although he was about 10 feet away from me he reached me in almost an instant, the only signs of him that I saw was him leaning forward before he appeared in front of me.
As I move to block his fist his voice echos from right behind me, “How do you like my Shadow Step?” He says as his fist collides with my lower back and I fly forward through the fake him without actually making contact.
‘So it can create a somewhat “Clone” of him huh. It seemed completely real to me until the last moment when his voice was heard though.’
Falling forward from the sudden hit I take note of his skill and move to hit him before he can use it again. Thankfully it seems that I’m faster than him when he isn’t using the speed skill so my fist landed on his chest pretty easily and sent him flying back with little damage.
The crowd grows louder seeing my reaction and one of them yells, “He’s that fast without even using his cultivation base? Just how strong is his body? He’s a monster!” one of the older disciples says as his body involuntarily shudders at the thought of if he were to try to fight the monster on the stage. This fight may seem like a low-level fight to the judges whose cultivation was higher but to these disciples who have barely even left the clan, this is the highest level fight they’ve seen in their life. With the challenger Jungho leaving shadows every time he activated the shadow step he was practically everywhere on the stage the disciples themselves already thought of him in a different league than the rest of them but as they were watching the fight progress they noticed that he was barely doing any damage to the number one disciple Bell who was taking everything without even using his cultivation base. Using only his physical body and none of the mystical or immortal properties of the world this monster took on one of the strongest of the younger generation of their clan and has been laughing while doing it.
A fist rushed past my face as I move to dodge while throwing a punch of my own sending him flying again. As he falls back he stops himself from falling on his knees albeit barely while wiping the blood from his mouth and spitting out the blood that was in his mouth. He looks around the fighting stage only to notice all of the blood on the floor slowly drying up from the heat of the sun. There’s so much blood on the floor that if it was Earth this would be labeled as a murder scene and blocked off by police. Of course in the cultivation world, this could be seen as normal, as people in this world were stronger, of course, they wouldn’t always listen to laws and instead would do as they wish. Survival of the fittest is one way someone would say it. As Bell continued to knock down the challenger Jungho in a slugfest, one after another, each time Jungho tried to get up and throw a punch he would be countered perfectly as if he was facing an experienced soldier who came from the battlefield.
After a while of mindlessly getting beaten Jungho himself started to question himself. Why did I think that I could take this monster on? Where did I get the confidence to rush straight into death? How did I end up like this in the first place, always arrogant and not caring about those weaker than me? Constantly trying to get stronger only to get knocked down by those stronger than me and betraying those weaker than me for benefits.
It was at this moment that Jungho realized something, at this time in his life he had what the weaker people had said before when they cursed at him for taking advantage of his strength, gotten beat so hard that he had some sense knocked into him. His mind cleared and in turn, what was blocked before had become completely free, no longer enslaved by the hatred of always being second place, the jealousy he held towards the number one spot, and the fear of being found weak.
As his mind slowly started to change he himself thought, ‘It’s fine to lose.’ For the first time in his life, he wasn’t afraid of the consequences of losing, he wasn’t afraid of being called weak, and he was no longer held fear of those stronger than him.
“I give up. There’s no way I can win against you Bell, you’re the same monster that you were 3 years ago when we were accepted into the clan.” Jungho says as he lays on the floor defeated.
“Then I will announce that the winner of the match is the Number One Disciple Bell!” The main judge says as everyone in the crowd is silent with the image of Bell knocking around one of the strongest among them like a ragdoll. No matter what he tried to do he was always knocked down, Bell didn’t even use his cultivation base and only used his physical strength. And this monster who laughs while treating the second strongest like a ragdoll is currently standing there with a smile while surrounded by dried up blood. He was staring at the air in front of himself as if there was something there.
[Congratulations on completing the first half of the trial. The reward of the first trial is still pending as you haven’t completed it. You may now use the system again. Good Luck!]
