Rent A Boyfriend! - Chapter 175
“Ying Jie, Yang Ge is waiting outside. His helicopter has arrived.”
Shi Qiang and Yanyue came to my room wearing a peach-coloured dress, the uniformed colour for my wedding with Baobao today.
The makeup artists were just finished with my makeup and jewellery on my hair. Baobao and I had agreed not to be too traditional for our wedding because it would take too much preparation, especially for the women part.
Thus, we agreed to make it casual for our ceremony and the wedding. My sisters helped me get up and walked out of my room. When the door was opened, I saw Meng Bao with red slim-fit changpao and black trousers that outlined his broad shoulder and muscle.
He had just finished his greeting to ask my parents so he could take me out of the house.
My Mom and Dad looked at me, and my Mom giggled, “Yang Menghuo, you go and take Shi Ying with you ah. She has been waiting for you anxiously.”
“Anxiously?” Meng Bao asked.
“Yes, she told me that she’s scared you might run away during the wedding day, like those in the movie,” Dad added.
“DAD!” I yelled at them, embarrassed that my parents told him about my worries.
Meng Bao smiled thin, “I didn’t expect Ying Jie could also have a ridiculous worry like that—”
“Oh come on, Yang Menghuo.”
There was another voice coming from the front door. Everyone darted their eyes and saw Madam Yang and Mr. Yang standing side by side, “You called us last night because you’re too embarrassed to call Shi Ying. You really thought that Shi Ying would run away with someone during the wedding days, so you send so many secret services around this farm just to make sure. How ridiculous,” Madam Yang said, full of ridicule to her own son.
“MOM!” This time Meng Bao was the one who yelled at his mother for leaking his worry. I chuckled, turned out, it wasn’t only me who was super nervous about the wedding today.
Meng Bao looked at me and stared for a good while before mumbling, “So beautiful….”
I rolled my eyes, “Baobao, you’re drooling.”
“Ah—” Meng Bao fished out his handkerchief and wiped his lips. “S—Sorry, it’s just… Jiejie, you’re so beautiful, like a goddess. I can’t believe that I will marry a goddess today.”
Ugh, so corny. But I wouldn’t lie that I like it, hehe.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Remember the tradition?”
“Yes!”
Meng Bao approached me and gently embraced me before carrying me on his arm, bridal style. It was the tradition not to make the bride’s shoes dirty by walking, so the groom had to carry her to the carriage—Well, helicopter for us.
Meng Bao walked outside, followed by my sisters and my parents, alongside Meng Bao’s parents.
It was very crowded outside because the news about my marriage spread around the village, and everyone came to see me.
Meng Bao had expected this, though, so he set fireworks, a lion dance performance, and a massive amount of food for everyone who came.
“Ying Jie! Congratulations!”
“Ying Jie is marrying today!”
“Shi Ying, congratulations!”
“Someone finally married the Gorilla girl!”
I glared at the last one who called me gorilla girl. It was obvious that I had a tight diet until my wedding day, just in case the beautiful dress wouldn’t fit me.
Meng Bao carried me to the helicopter and then asked, “Jiejie, do you need a blanket to cover your eyes? I don’t want you to feel sick on our wedding day.”
“Hnn, I’ll just close my eyes,” I said. I didn’t want to ruin the makeup that took literal four hours to do. It was so beautiful that I thought I looked like a movie star today.
Thus, I closed my eyes and leaned on Meng Bao’s shoulder. I could hear the helicopter started to move alongside the other helicopters that carried our parents and sisters.
**
It took a while until I could feel the helicopter started descending. The helicopter landed on a large helipad, and Meng Bao was the first one to get out. He also carried me on his arm as we walked to the wedding venue.
“Whoa, Baobao—”
“Do you like it, Jie?” Meng Bao asked, full of pride. It seemed that he wanted to be praised for his work here.
The wedding venue was beautiful. It was located on the rooftop of the biggest hotel in Beijing, conveniently also owned by Meng Bao.
The venue was decorated with beautiful real sakura trees with their pink petals scattering around. There were lines of red packets hanging around the trees as well. Meanwhile, the wedding altar was fully decorated with red roses, alongside the shameless ‘Meng Bao and Ying Jie in the middle.’
There were also real hot air balloons floating from afar, carrying a banner, ‘Ying Jie and Meng Bao are marrying today’ and ‘Jiejie loves Baobao.’
This was literally showing what kind of man Baobao was.
…
“It’s very corny,” I commented. “But it’s also beautiful. You’ve done a great job, Baobao.”
Meng Bao looked happy that I could see that his cheeks turned ruddier, “Everything for you, Jiejie.”
“Finally, the groom and bride, Mr. Yang Menghuo and Miss Shi Ying, has arrived. Everyone, please give a round of applause to our lovebirds today!”
The loud claps from the guests snatched my attention. I saw few familiar faces, including Tian Lifeng and her child, smiling while clapping at us. I also saw Alexander Priest clapping, although I could see that his smile wasn’t as happy as the other guests.
Surprisingly, there were few familiar faces alongside those two. I didn’t expect Meng Bao to invite them.
“Jiejie, I will not forget people who are important in your life. Actually, I want to invite the old driver and his family, but for some reason, I cannot find them now. After he left, he just disappeared with his wife and children.”
I smiled at Meng Bao. I knew that old driver wasn’t just a regular human, “Well, I think he is happy with his family right now. I bet he is watching us.”
“I believe that as well, Jie….”
Meng Bao walked to the long aisle, with the guests showering us with flower petals and congratulating us. Meng Bao finally put me down on the long, gorgeous chair, sitting side by side with him. We were facing the guests, who finally sat down. I glanced at Meng Bao, who was sitting beside me, and then nudged him with my knee, “Baobao, how about my makeup? Is it still on point?”
“Yes, Jie, you’re seriously perfect.”
…
Okay, I shouldn’t have believed in Meng Bao about this one. I could jump inside a pigpen, and Meng Bao would still call me a gorgeous lady.
We started the short version of the traditional ceremony, but there were two highlights of today wedding. The first one was paying respect to our parents.
My parents and Meng Bao parents sat on their chairs beside ours, then Meng Bao and I walked on our knees to pay deep respect. We went to my parents first. We wanted to kowtow, but our parents held us, “Don’t kowtow to us, Daughter… Son…” My Dad said.
“Dad, thank you for everything….” I said. I kissed the back of his hand, and Yang Menghuo also did the same.
“Mom, thank you for taking care of me. Thank you for persevering with dad even through hard times,” I said to my Mom.
“Oh, Shi Ying, my first child. You’re really a great warrior lady. You’ve worked hard for the family, even I feel guilty since you keep taking care of the family. I’m just happy that you’ve settled down with a good man like Yang Menghuo,” Mom said. She looked at Yang Menghuo and smiled, “Yang Menghuo, I do not doubt your love and devotion for our daughter. You’ve shown it many times, and I’m glad that you will be my son-in-law in the future.”
“Please take care of each other, my daughter can be stubborn and feisty, but she has a good heart and great motherly instinct. I’m sure your children will be well-educated with a mother like Shi Ying.”
Meng Bao nodded assuringly, “I never doubt that Ying Jie will be a great mother for my children. Rest assured, Mother, I will take care of Ying Jie and your grandchildren. I’ll let them play on the farm often.”
…
After we paid respect for my parents, we walked with our knees to the Big boss, Mr. Yang and Madam Yang.
Madam Yang had been eyeing me with displeased eyes. I gulped, trying to swallow my nervousness. Although Madam Yang hadn’t said anything mean after that family meeting, I still had this anxiety whenever I met her.
We were about to kowtow to them, but just like my parents, they prevented us from kowtowing.. Madam Yang was the first one to open the conversation, “You two, you don’t need to kowtow, especially you, Shi Ying.”
