Rest in a Demon’s Embrace [BL] - Chapter 174
Cao Lanying’s expression was full of fury and frustrations. She did not wish to stay outside for long, as she knew that her brother would drag her home if he found out that she had snuck out.
While she did not mind using her identity as the oldest lady of the Cao family to bully others, she was perfectly well aware that her entire might was nothing more than a paper tiger.
The Cao family would never really make her threats become reality. And even if she could cause trouble at the auction house today, it would be her who would suffer upon returning home.
Even so, she was not able to accept her predicament. She had met with the Fourth Demon Prince two days back, and he had given her great benefits and promises if she managed to get a few items for him from today’s auction.
“She is quite shameless. Everyone wants to enter the auction today, but her identity doesn’t matter, it is impossible to force their way inside. Who does she think she is to try and win by intimidation?”
“I know her; she is the Eldest Miss Cao. I guess it is normal for her to try and use her family background to get her way, but she still has to see what occasion it is.”
“Cao? The family that jumped ship and began supporting the Seventh Demon Prince recently?”
The gossip amongst the audience was constantly spreading and increasing. Cao Lanying could hear their mocking words, and she felt as if someone had slapped her in public, but she was still unwilling to give up.
Jiang Yao and Luo Xiao had been witnessing her behavior, but they soon felt rather bored with her attitude.
While it could be amusing to watch a drama from time to time, this was to a point where it seemed pointless. Cao Lanying was a brainless person who would never realize her mistakes before she had been cremated, and she continued to kick up a fuss, which resulted in the staff member calling for security.
The auction that would be held today was of a special character, and the auction house had contacted the Tiangsong Empire’s Emperor, and requested assistance with the guarding of their treasures.
The Emperor was well aware of the owner of these treasures, and thus he had not declined their request for help.
It was also members of the Royal Guard that had appeared to help this staff member get rid of Cao Lanying.
The Royal Guard was special as they did not take any orders from the princes and princesses. Only the Emperor’s orders were accepted by this noble regiment, and the reason that they followed the orders of this staff member was due to the mission given before arrival.
Although the group of Royal Guards felt that it was somewhat overkill to ask them to oversee the security at this auction, they still felt somewhat excited by the possibility to observe such a legendary auction, and thus they did not feel much displeasure.
The Royal Guard’s uniform was black with a red lining and a token embroidered on their chest. The token was also embroidered using a red thread, and it resembled a bleeding rose, a special royal symbol that had always followed this specific kind of guards.
Cao Lanying glanced at the bleeding rose and her eyes widened in shock as her mouth opened and closed without the ability to say anything. She understood that the auction house was not willing to let her keep running rampant, but she still wanted to take her chance.
“I have forgotten my invitation, just look at the list! I am the eldest lady of the Cao family, I, naturally, have the right to attend on behalf of my own family!”
While Cao Lanying was yelling out these words, she also managed to retreat a few steps, and her actions were smooth, but clearly intent on causing even more chaos.
“Do you want to enter, or finish watching this first?”
Jiang Yao noticed how Luo Xiao’s eyes were dark as he seemed to be in deep contemplation. The younger man kept looking at Cao Lanying, but Jiang Yao did not know what he was thinking.
“Is she really Cao Haolong’s biological sister?”
Suddenly, as Jiang Yao was busy admiring his lover’s expression, he heard such words, and his lips twitched in amusement.
He could not help but raise his eyes and glance at the now dishevelled woman that was yelling and jumping around in front of a huge crowd, and he could not help but wonder whether or not Luo Xiao’s words were correct.
Although he was not too familiar with Cao Haolong, he understood him enough to know how smart and cunning he was. Then, when looking at Cao Lanying who was causing such a scene, Jiang Yao could not help but wonder if there was truly something wrong.
“Could it be that Cao Haolong took all the intelligence that was meant to be shared among them? I mean, this eldest miss is not lacking just a bit of knowledge, her entire world view is distorted.”
Luo Xiao was saying such hurtful and damaging words without changing his face. He seemed as if he truly meant what he said, and those surrounding him could not help but glance at Cao Lanying a few extra times.
She really did resemble a lunatic.
“Lanying!”
Just as the rumors of Can Lanying being a mentally unstable person, a strong voice suddenly resounded throughout the area. It was powerful, and it contained endless coldness.
No one needed to look twice to know that the newly arrived person was Cao Haolong.
