Rest in a Demon’s Embrace [BL] - Chapter 203
Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao did not leave their room before the nagging guard had threatened to knock down the door. Although he knew that his two masters were inside, he still felt that their plans could not be disrupted by their need for sweetness.
“I’d say, Ye Chao, do you think that Master Yao is planning to keep Young Master Gu inside the room all day? We have to guide our Young Master to the Gu family and acknowledge his ancestors today! It is an important plan that can’t be changed.”
Ye Feng, the nagging guard, was feeling helpless and panicked. He had already fully invested himself into the current role as the guard of ‘Young Master Gu’ and felt the need to ensure the success of his acceptance into the Gu family.
Ye Chao, who was standing aside, could not help but feel helpless as he looked at his depressed companion. Ever since they had joined the Seventh Demon Prince’s secret forces, he had been paired with this confusing young man, and he had long since gotten used to his overly dramatic personality.
Even so, he could still not help but marvel over the fact that Ye Feng was still alive, when he was so reckless as to even interfere in their master’s favorite rest time alongside Luo Xiao.
However, no matter how eager Ye Feng was with interrupting the two lovebirds, Ye Chao did not give him the chance, and before the two guards could start an all-out battle, the door into the room slowly opened, and Luo Xiao exited wearing clean clothes and looking every bit as a young master of a noble family.
“Young Master Gu, are you ready for us to set out?” The moment Ye Feng noticed Luo Xiao, his eyes lit up in relief, and he tossed the urge to fight Ye Chao to the back of his mind.
“We are a bit delayed, but if we hurry, there should not be much trouble with arriving at the Gu Mansion in time for our appointment.”
Ye Feng was so busy nagging Luo Xiao about their urge to hurry up, that he forgot to ask about where Jiang Yao had left, and whether his true master was planning to return later. It was clear that he was currently only caring about this young master whom he had been told to guard.
Ye Chao could not help but helplessly shake his head, as he and Luo Xiao shared a look of understanding. Ye Feng was truly a character on his own.
However, although he was boisterous, he was also very responsible, so they did not tarry and hurried towards the Gu Mansion.
Although the Gu Family was located within the same city as their inn, Ye Feng was adamant on certain details, such as their image when arriving, and thus, the group did not walk, but instead made their way towards the mansion within a luxurious carriage.
Usually, Luo Xiao would consider whether or not this was appropriate, as he was not considered an actual member of the Gu family, and that his main connection was his so-called uncle who was the patriarch. If he showed up with too much splendor, it was likely to make others jealous, but Ye Feng countered him and said that a certain display of arrogance was needed to live peacefully, as others would bully him otherwise.
Luo Xiao was, in fact, well aware that both methods had drawbacks, but seeing the eagerness on Ye Feng’s expression as he was rushing to prepare the details of their journey, he held back his words and simply followed along. Since the Gu family was likely to have a few people causing problems no matter which decision he ended up making, then he might as well choose the one that was most comfortable.
“Halt!”
As their carriage arrived at the Gu Mansion’s gates, the guards called for them to stop and they asked about their purpose for visiting. After the steady Ye Chao explained their situation, they were quickly led inside, after recording down their names and the time of arrival.
Luo Xiao could not help but feel some admiration for the Gu family when he noticed how the guard was very polite and professional throughout the whole process. Even after knowing his current identity, he still maintained the same attitude, and even explained that everyone without their names written on the Gu family’s genealogy who visited or left their premises had to register their names for safety reasons.
Even though Luo Xiao currently used the surname Gu, he was not yet officially accepted by the family, and thus he was considered an outsider until this visit was successful and he had been accepted into their family as one of the younger generations.
Luo Xiao understood their caution, and both of his personal guards were even more understanding, so everything was handled quickly before their carriage entered through the gates and went towards the front yard, where a group of servants was already waiting for them.
“Young Master Gu Tianyu, please leave the carriage to me.”
One of the servants hurried to take over the carriage and lead it to a place where the horses could rest, and the others were split into two groups of two.
One of the pairs had to lead Luo Xiao towards the main hall where the patriarch and the family elders were waiting, while the other pair was tasked with leading the guards towards a courtyard to rest.
Ye Chao and Ye Feng were both unhappy with the possibility of being separated from Luo Xiao, but they also knew that they could not make a scene here, as it would be too unlike their current identities, and thus they obediently followed the servants. Their plan, however, was to sneak into the shadows and observe the main hall as soon as the servants left them.
