Return of the last survivor - Chapter 115
The familiar feeling of trying to force your way through an unbreakable wall of nothingness filled Merlin once more as he lost consciousness in the white emptiness of the planer wall.
When he finally regained consciousness, he noticed that he was in a place where the mana no longer supressed him. In fact, it even supported him.
This could only mean one thing. This plane was already at Rank 4, allowing Tier 4 beings to exist, and was coming close to its next mana burst, since the mana of the plane was pushing him to increase his level.
‘Ah’
Merlin sat upright and stretched for a while before checking his status, only to find that he was perfectly fine. He did not get injured anywhere, nor did his stats reduce on this plane. In fact, he felt more alive that he was back on Earth, most likely due to the suppression on him.
‘Cortana?’
“Yes My lord!”
‘What is the time displacement?’
‘According to what forefather Phillip and I and calculated, it should be slightly slower than ‘Tsundere plane’ as you named it, at about 8 times the speed of time flow.’
‘Good! Then I can spend a few years here. Maybe I can reach peak Tier 5 by then?’
With this in mind, Merlin thought about what he should do next.
He could do one of two things. One was to stay in the forest he was sin currently and kill off Tier 4 monsters or zombies until he reached peak Tier 4, or the other was to wander around in search for this world’s sentient race. Since the world was already at Tier 4, and was close to evolving once again, there should be a sentient race who uses Arcania.
However, he did not see any form of civilisation anywhere, and so he assumed he was pretty far away from this plane’s sentient race, and decided to go with the first option.
‘Grinding is always the way out of such a problem.’
With his plan of action in mind, Merlin chose a random direction and began running with magic to increase efficiency in terms of distance travelled and stamina used.
As he moved, in a single direction, he made sure to not leave too much markings regarding his path travelled. For some unknown reason, Merlin had been feeling an ominous feeling ever since he began moving. And now, the sun had already set, and for some reason it had begun raining, making the atmosphere even more.
Merlin knew not to ignore this feeling, since he had felt this feeling once before as well. It was when he had gone to the ‘Rune’ dungeon. While fighting, he had received an ominous feeling just like this one, and later on, his [Future Vision] told him about the future.
Only this time, the feeling was a lot stronger, like comparing a pebble to a mountain. Furthermore, his [Future Vision] had already evolved to [Time Grasp], which made it harder to activate the skill. Both of these skills were ones that he could not actively activate, but would activate on their own.
And it was giving him such a strong reaction could only mean one thing; something was about to go horribly wrong rather soon.
‘Instead of hunting, I should try and find the sentient race of this plane and hopefully find some temporary protection with the peak Tier 4s there.’ Merlin thought as he prepared to fly into the air and survey the area.
However, the very next moment, his eyes went completely black as he saw a future where he jumps into the air, only to notice an enormous shadow nearly 500 times larger than himself descending from the skies above him, and biting into him, killing him instantly, and eating up his head, shoulders, and waist in one single bite.
Suddenly, Merlin returned to reality as his eyes cleared up and he instinctively threw away the wind mana he had converted from his own mana, and used earth magic as he dug himself into the ground. But he did not stop at just a few meters, and kept on digging as he fled from the enormous clearly peak Tier 4, and one that had been at that stage for such a long time that it could one-shot peak Tier 4s like eating candies.
While fleeing, only one word came to his mind.
‘Dragon!’
