Return of the last survivor - Chapter 116
He did not stop digging below him, and filling the hole behind him for even a moment. This was not his conscious mind, but more like the skill [Time Grasp] forcing his subconscious mind to not stop. Since he also felt the unstoppable force exerted from that dragon, he did not wish to remain anywhere near it, or ever meet it again until he reached Tier 5! Only at that level would he be able to kill it.
While his body was digging, his mind was remembering the scene, trying to complete the image of the dragon he had scene. However, he simply could not complete it. HE thought about the scales which were each as large as his own body, and had the texture of a boulder, with a rustic and worn look along with some minor cracks. But each of them gave off a sense of indestructability that Merlin could not reach. The rigid yet flexible wings which spanned for nearly a few kilometres in total wingspan, and the gigantic legs and claws which were nearly as tall as a moderately sized building. And then came the mouth. IT’s entire mouth was as large as a small building.
Suddenly, Merlin realised that the dragon could have swallowed him whole and it would be like swallowing a few grains of sugar clumped together.
And then Merlin remembered what was missing from the image in his mind. He recalled the rock-like face containing the two jewel-like eyes imbedded in the sides, giving off a ridiculing look at Merlin.
At this very moment, Merlin stopped digging, as his entire body calmed down as the magic he was using stopped.
‘Thanks!’ Merlin thought in his mind as though he was speaking with the skill.
He then made the underground space slightly larger, and sat down, before pulling out a lump of earth.
Slowly, he began to create a copy of the dragon using simple Soil. However, this soil was from a Rank 4 plane, which should be as strong as steel form the current Rank 3 Earth’s plane.
Somehow, the dragon had struck fear similar to the fear Zero had created within Merlin. However, a sense of passion began to rise in his heart along with the fear. It was a passion to defeat an incredibly powerful enemy. It was a drive to defeat something that resembled Zero in its personality and overbearing might.
For some unknown reason, Merlin used these emotions of fear to create a replica model of the dragon.
Time passed and the dragon model began to turn increasingly vivid and lifelike. Merlin did not know why he was making the model, nor did he know that he could be this great at sculpting using earth magic. Getting engrossed in the process completely, Merlin shut off most of his senses, including his telepathic connections with all of his pets unconsciously as he embraced this sudden talent at sculpting he gained.
What he did not realise was the Cortana was screaming into his mind,
‘My Lord!!! The ground is shifting!! Something is approaching. Many things are approaching. All of them are at level 3!! My Lord!! Please! I don’t have any body here, and I can’t do anything. Furthermore, as soon as we entered this plane, my connection with Earth were all cut off, and I only just came to realise this!! My Lord! WAKE UP!!’
However, Merlin was busy shaping his statue of the dragon.
A few moments later, the ground of the space he had created cracked and he fell inot the opening. However, he subconsciously activated a few spalls to maintain levitation in the air, and continued with his sculpting.
“Eek! It’s a Tier 4!”
“Quick! Retreat! Notify the guard! Quick!!”
The group of creatures that had broken into Merlin’s hole, quickly conversed as they retreated at a rather quick pace.
However, one of them stopped for a moment and thought before speaking.
“It seems to have advanced very recently, and seems to be preoccupied on what every it is doing with the soil.”
“It seems so.”
“But what is it doing?”
“It is making a sculpture…” At this moment, a dignified voice echoed from the tunnel the creatures had come from.
“Teacher!” the three creatures immediately saluted the older creature before asking,
“Sculpting?”
“Yes. It is sculpting a drago.”
“DRAGO! WHERE!”
“WHERE WHERE!???”
The three creatures immediately became vigilant.
“Fool! It is making the statue of a Drago. My, what fine control of mana this young creature has. However, that won’t be enough to complete the statue.”
“Why not? I can use Earth magic and make the statue of a dragon within moments.”
“It is not just making the statue for the sake of making the statue. It is trying to comprehend the very essence of the Drago and drying to display it.”
“Meaning?”
“It has begun the process of analysing the true essence of a peak Tier 4 creature. It has begun the first step towards analysing true laws without Arcania.”
“Oh!”
“But that! No one can analyse laws!”
“Wrong. No one on this plane can analyse laws. And that is because no one is at Tier 5 here yet. However, countless planes exist where creatures are already at Tier 9, or maybe even above! Furthermore, you might not know this, but our race is not from this plane. In the books left behind in history, our ancestors fled a dying plane and arrived at this plane millions of year ago. You should remember this. It is the truth behind out Dwarf race.”
Said the bearded creature and self-proclaimed dwarf.
Cortana, who had read through countless comics while resting or between tasks, knew what dwarves looked like to humans. However, these creatures were just the opposite. They were each basically double the size, height and weight of humans. And that old one had horns!
