Revenge to The Devil - Chapter 82
When I walked out of the studio, he was full of excitement, “When Shawn always spoke of your excellent gift of playing the piano, I just didn’t believe that you could play such a pathetic music.”
He turned to Shawn and said, “It is Shawn who is far-sighted. If incorporated with some other kind of string instruments, it could be produced as popular music and it could also become a classic.”
His words comforted me to some extent because of the song became a good seller, I could pay the liquidation costs. I smiled to accept the compliments, I moved towards the door without realizing it.
Finally, I got to the door, then I turned into the corridor. Jonathan was leaning against the wall in the corner, smoking leisurely. In my memory, it was rare that he smoked in such a way, which meant he was in a bad mood. I approached him, saying without consideration, “Unhappy?”
“When did you learn to ask such nonsense?” he asked.
The next sentence I wanted to say was drowned out by him. Since he didn’t like nonsense, I asked him a question,” Why did you change your phone number?”
He grinned, putting down his hand which was holding a cigarette. “What did you want to call to tell me? Tell me you’re fine, or you miss me?” he wanted to know.
“I… ” I couldn’t get my words out.
“If you are fine, you needn’t show me. If you miss me, just come back. What’s the point of a call? To test my self-control power, or flaunt your freedom when you’re out of my reach?” he said.
“I just wanted to know how you are,” I said tenderly in front of him.
Staring at me, he grinds his teeth angrily and asked, “Isn’t it obvious?”
I bit my tongue secretly. He must have been in a terrible rage.
When I hesitated to ask the reason that he had arranged to have Irene around me and why he cared about me so much, he checked his watch impatiently, and said, “It’s already four o’clock, when can you finish it?”
“It is done, we can leave now. And I want to ask…” I started saying.
He threw the cigarette into the trash can behind him, glancing behind me, then looked down at me.
“Do you still love him?” The sudden question stunned me, and I almost burst out, “No.”
After thinking about it, I used classic dialogue from the script, “At least, he is a man I can love.”
“You can love any man in this world, except me!” he snapped.
I looked up at him and said, “Is it my fault?”
He reached out his hand, his long fingers lifting the hair on my forehead and holding my face lingeringly, which stirred my heart.
He stared at my wandering eyes and smiled gently, “You should not love any man in the world, except me.”
At that moment, my feelings were beyond expression. Why did such an enchanted demon exist in the world?” I thought.
Every woman in the world could love this charming man, except me! After a long pause, I squeezed out, “Don’t you believe that I love you?”
He moved his hands to the back of my head, leaning his body over me and kissing me. It was obvious what he intended to do next. A passionate kiss before the divorce? I roared to myself in heart, “Jonathan Li, avoid it quickly, it will be over once you are kissed by him!”
But the voice in my mind was much louder: “Shut up! How could I escape from him, he was Jonathan Li!
When my sense and sensibility was conflicted, he had captured my lips, conquering my rational thoughts.
I gave up the pointless resistance, throwing my feeble body against his warm chest. Somehow, his kiss was passionate that day. He entwined our tongue tips and lips, and sometimes he pulled out his tongue to lick my lips.
He slid his hands onto my bosoms from the waist, rubbing my chest wildly.
I wanted to say no, but I gave an intoxicating groan.
I snuggled closer to lean my feeble body against him, so close that I could feel his hard body between my legs.
His lust burned my body, I wanted to hold his waist tightly and press my body against him, sliding my fingers over his back. I didn’t know how long it had been, once I was excited, he loosened his hands.
He revealed the ironic smile around his lips when he said, “Your skill of kissing seems to have remained just as poor, let dad show you next time.” I couldn’t figure it out with my confused brain, especially the word ‘dad’. His sneering reminded me of his eyesight as he stroked my back, then I turned around quickly.
It was Shawn, who seemed to have been there for a long time, terribly shocked and enraged.
He stood at the end of the corridor with a blank stare. It was Jonathan’s revenge.
When I turned back to Jonathan, he revealed a more complacent smile.
“How would such man exist?” I thought. When hurt by others, he would pay them back even worse.
Shawn showed him a short, gentle kiss, so vague. Then he returned a passionate and lingering kiss. He wanted to claim that Desiree Li had been abandoned by him, but she was still in love with him and under his control!
I had done silly things in the past, but the smartest was when I followed Jonathan to pass by Shawn without giving him any attention. Shawn froze.
“You shouldn’t have come back,” he looked down and said in a deep voice, “If you want to divorce me, you can ask a lawyer to talk to me.”
“I really shouldn’t have come back,” I replied.
If I hadn’t come back, I could lie to myself that he still loved me.”
No more words were spoken, he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a translucent, plastic box without label a label, but it looked like a reddish paste. I was curious when he sat a little farther away holding my feet on the seat, taking off my shoes and socks and rolling up my jeans.
I bit my lips hard, and my eyes were wet.
“What’s the matter?” he asked, “Painful?”
I turned around to avoid his eyes, but the warmth of his palm was strong enough to ease the pain in my ankle.
The tears rolled down from my piercing eyes. He raised his arms to wipe my tears with his sleeve, “After the divorce, I’ll take you to an old folk doctor, who specializes in such injury.”
“Why are you so kind to me?” I must figure some questions out, even the answers may disappoint me more I said, “Why did you arrange to have Irene around me?”
He didn’t raise his head, but answered emotionlessly, “You know!”
Surprised, I suddenly remembered the phone call before dawn, as he stood outside the hotel to wait with his wrongly-placed buttons and the aesthetic elevator at the Hilton Hotel. All of that was to show me that although we had sad memories, we were missing each other. He had been missing me and waiting for me to step into the exclusive elevator and go back to him.
It was his style of saying, “I love you, I can live without you.
I came back, but I stopped the feet in front of the elevator, then proposed to get divorced. What hurt him more was the public kiss with Shawn in the elevator.
Outside the elevator, he held my hands tightly and then loosened his grip, which expressed that he loved me, so he was willing to give me the freedom to choose. I almost hugged him and told him, “If you loved me now, we could restart!”
Maybe it was a happy ending, at least better than the last two times. The ache in my ankle brought me back to reality. I recollected that when I just went aboard, I couldn’t help missing him late at night; I even decided to find him when my injured ankle had recovered.
The day I recovered, the director doctor reminded me, “You could walk normally, but it doesn’t mean that it is cured forever. Any tiny accident could cause a relapse, bringing unimaginable damage. Therefore, you should bear it in mind that you have an incurable bone injury in your ankle.
In the last two years, I had never forgotten that there was a huge gap in our love. It was not by accident that we missed each other more than once. Even if I had come back to him bravely, I couldn’t ensure that I wouldn’t raise a gun towards his chest in the following ten or twenty years.
It was more uncertain that he would not suspect my intention of coming back when confused by some misunderstanding. My hatred and his suspicious nature caused the contradiction and suspicion about our love, which brought about a tragedy in our relationship.
Because of the solemn mood, the driver turned up the music to relieve us. The sound of the CD was vague and was mixed a harsh scraping sound. I just couldn’t endure the sound, even for a while, I didn’t know how long he had suffered.
If I knew that the CD I left was a sharp knife to him, hurting his heart many times every day, I would never have done it. Staring at him, I was enchanted by him again.
If I could recover, could I lose to love again? if I put down the hatred, could he eliminate his suspicion to start over?
“We…” I was about to talk to him, but seemed so far away.
The car stopped by the door where we got married in the past. He got out of the car without hesitation, while I paused to back willfully, “My ankle is painful, I…” I said.
He didn’t get the meaning and reached out his arms to help me out of the car.
I snuggled in his safe arms and held his arms tightly. I really wanted to say, “I don’t want to get divorced.”
