Reversion (BL) - Chapter 5
Omega stumbled out of Alpha’s master bedroom step by step with only a thin nightgown and having hands-on his painful belly. His body was covered with bruised kiss marks and deep-red fingerprints all over. Because during the rut period, Alpha had become attached to Omega’s bedroom, which is full of Omega’s permanence. On the way back to his own room, there was trace evidence of their six-day-long nonsense. Omega was deeply embarrassed by the mess they made – the sheets, walls, and window sills were all stirred up; the scent of pheromone still lingered stubbornly in the air.
Alpha’s disgust and rage were like a slap in Omega’s face. All the evidence left by their sex made his head spin and dizzy.
“I should have been prepared for his reactions,” he thought embarrassingly, “long …… ago ……”
Omega held on to the wall, ignored the messy dirt first, moved to the bathroom next to the small bedroom. He turned on the hot water and rinsed his tired body from top to bottom.
The hot mist filled the room, the water rattled, and he leaned back in the tub, his eyelids fluttering none-stop for the fatigue.
“I suppose Alpha is feeling some sort of fear now,” Omega looked at the water mist spreading out in disorderly shapes on the frosted glass, “I am sure his anger is to cover up the unfamiliar fear.“
For centuries, all Omega species had suffered from such anxiety: weak physique, meagre strength, and regulated rut period. This rut period, always on time, always precise, turned all Omega into a sex tool for Alphas. Alphas’ arrogance made them believe that Omegas in the rut period were hard to shake off. The norm was Omegas were like doddering flowers, clinging to the Alphas. The best out of the worst, Alphas would also be uncontrollably attracted to Omegas. The two races have been able to maintain a delicate balance and have been bitterly entangled until now. In fact, Omegas species could never break away from their nature, no matter how hard they tried in the past two decades.
What is the price of being chosen to be a human?
What is it like to be suppressed by nature and have to be controlled by another human species?
In the bathtub, Omega lost in thought and slowly fell asleep.
As reasonably privileged as his family could have, Omega still was not able to get any freedom or respect, not to mention those Omegas from the bottom of society. Because it would be troublesome if all strong Alphas started a riot only if they could. In the general public’s eyes, the most significant value of Omega besides reproduction was to meet Alphas’ physical and sexual needs, to keep them satisfied endlessly, and to stop their tendency from staring all sorts of forces.
.….. So, this is why Alpha was in fear? Is he worried about the power-changing?
Omega sluggishly changed his posture in the bathtub. He knelt in the tub, head down, spine bent out of a beautiful curve, slow to clean himself up.
Omegas would no longer be in heat in the traditional sense with this unknown virus or controlled by Alphas. Alternately, Omegas became extremely needed by their marked Alphas. Without Omegas’ comfort, in the rut period, all Alphas would not only become highly insecure and sensitive but also irritable instantly, moreover, unreasonable and violent.
Notions dropped from Omega’s eyes and face, not knowing whether those were tears from the pain or sweat from the heat.
Omega had endorsed the force of the rut period, social roles, and the responsibilities to bring pride to his family since his teen time. He never lived for himself; his life was in his Alpha’s hands. Most Alphas never treat their Omegas like a human; his Alpha is no better. Omega had lived in these norms for years. Now what? Omega prayed one day, his Alpha would understand the pain of being an Omega. “There is no such exact equal empathy among different races nor species in this world.” Instead, Omega soaked in the ocean of sorrow and helplessness, ” Nothing will change after his one-time rut period. He was mad for the embarrassment of losing control. Alphas would never get what feels like to an Omega. Never.”
The realization hit Omega hard. The water was hot, but Omega’s lips trembled, and his body was shivering by the chill from the fear and overwhelmed sadness, “What is he going to do with me?”
If only he could hunker down in the bathtub forever, which would be much better than facing the cruel reality and unknown, Omega thought.
Meanwhile, Alpha got up and dressed in a hurry. Since he absolutely lost his mind during the first-ever rut period, he had scared off all the servants in the house. No one could get clean clothes for him, so he only found a bath towel under the bed around his waist to cover the lower body.
He was absent from work for seven days; therefore, the moment got into this office, he found a massive amount of files for him to review. Not yet mention all the missed calls and unread emails. Alpha suppressed his anger since he did not have time for any emotions; another phone call called in.
“I hope you called in for a formal business, ” Alpha said grimly, “if not, I am very occupied at this moment.”
His best friend’s grinning voice came through, “I know you’re busy right now! But I still want to ask, how do you feel? How’s it going?”
Alpha raised his hand about to hang up the phone and heard his best friend hastened to plead for mercy, “Hey, hey, hey! I am just asking, alright? See how angry you are. Didn’t you laugh at me hard last time?”
“The medical research of the antidote for the virus must be put on the agenda and given priority,” Alpha said in an insensitive tone, “We can’t delay any longer.”
His friend was silent for a while, perhaps because he brought up the business. Next, his friend’s tone also turned serious, “I just read a report of the research ingredients by the Academy of Sciences. I suppose it is doubtful. No one knows if this is a real virus or not.”
“What makes you think in this way?”
“Most researchers all believed this is a new type of virus. I heard the Ombudsman also leaned to the virus-talk. However, a small group of researchers insisted this is not a virus, but the natural path of evolution.”
Alpha snored, “Natural path of evolution!? What the hell is the evolution of it!?”
“Just …… doubtful,” said his best friend, “if we want to treat it as a virus completely, I’m afraid we still have to start to do the research with the Omega…… Some researchers decided to get the Alpha-specific blocker out first from Omega’s body, which is not a matter that can be solved overnight. “
“What do you mean to get the blocker out from Omegas’ body?” Alpha raised an eyebrow, “How, by extracting their pheromones?”
“Worst. I suppose we might just have to cut off Omega’s glands?” His best friend replied, “Right now, there are two proposals — one is to make the blocker by following the principle of Omega’s blocker. And, eventually, maybe we can develop an effective antidote. The second is a bit ruthless, directly extracting a sufficient amount of pheromone from the paired Omega, and then… you know. You get the idea.”
Alpha had readjusted to a better irritable state, he said indifferently: “if we are going to approach the second proposal, then, there will be a chance to damage Omega’s glands permanently, right?”
“Yes, that’s why I said it’s a bit harsh.” And, the best friend continued, “by the way, one more thing, not a big deal.”
“Just say it.”
“Do you know what the name the Academy of Sciences has given to this virus?”
“What?” Alpha showed a bit of unnoticeable interest.
“Reversion,” his best friend replied, “they call it, Reversion.”
