Revolution System - Chapter 72
Jim wanted to head back to Earth soon, Karna had set his sights on it after all. With so much time having passed, Jim was extremely uneasy about the state of his home. ‘I need to quickly finish up things here.’
Heading back to the castle, Gaius was startled when he saw Jim’s new appearance.
Gaius: “What happened!?”
Jim: “Oh, too much to explain in a short time. Putting that aside, I need to talk with your officials.”
Gaius: “This is unusual, what for?”
Jim: “I want to wipe out the Vientan Group soon, but I can’t rule out an accomplice.”
Gaius furrowed his brows.
Gaius: “You really think one of my people is involved in this business?”
Jim: “I have a feeling that someone is smoothing things over on behalf of these bandits.”
Sighing, Gaius took a moment before giving his consent. Jim spent the majority of the day dealing with uncooperative nobles and military higher-ups, using his divinity senses allowed him to figure out what they had been up to. Jotting down the suspicious activity they had been up to, Jim was mentally exhausted from all the snobbish behavior and brown-nosing he experienced today.
Jim: “So, here’s what I found.”
Gaius looked over the notes.
Gaius: “What!?”
Looking up and down from the sheets of paper, Gaius was in disbelief at what had been written.
Gaius: “Is what you’ve written here true? How did you learn all of this?”
Jim: “I have a special power, all of the information came to light during the questioning.”
Bribery, Theft, Murder, ****, Coverups, Treason, a detailed list of crimes were written down.
Gaius: “This is going to be difficult to tackle…”
Jim understood, there were too few good men among the questioned people. They needed to be weeded out, but too many empty positions would be disastrous.
Sighing, he went back to questioning people, this time he focused on those in lower positions. He tried to find those who could take on larger roles. ‘Is this enough? I need to leave the rest to Gaius, governmental reforms will take way too long.’
Jim: “Alright, I’m going to handle the bandits now.”
Celes: “I’ll come along!”
Jim: “No, I need you here to help your father. There’s going to be a lot of trouble for a while.”
A disappointed Celes nodded and stayed behind. Jim left the city and used Lightning Drive to quickly head towards the bandit hideout.
A few minutes later, Jim was overlooking a rather large fort. Thousands of men were inside, drinking, singing, they seemed like the picture of happiness, but Jim could feel their auras. Murky and disgusting, he felt like he was wading through a rotting swamp just by being nearby. Underneath the fort were dozens of naked women chained up, he could tell they had been mistreated even without using his divine senses.
‘Alright, no wide area magic then.’ Jim pulled out several stone men and placed them in a circle around the fort, he didn’t want any of the bandits to get away. Walking up to the fort’s gate, he ignored the shouting from the men on lookout and quickly shot a lower dark fist at the wooden gate. *Boom*
The previously lounging men were now on alert as Jim walked inside.
Bandit A: “What is that?”
Bandit B: “Dunno, but he’s wearing clothes, must be a person.”
Bandit C: “He’s just one man, take him down!”
Arrows flew at Jim, he used wind magic to deflect them harmlessly. ‘Might as well train my magic control.’
Bandit B: “What the hell!?”
Bandit A: “Slice him up!”
Hundreds of men charged haphazardly while brandishing weapons, Jim began firing magic at them. Dozens fell every second, the bandits began to become frightened, none of them wanted to be the next person to eat a ball of fire. One man grabbed a couple of those nearby him and tossed them foward, using them as shields in order to approach.
Bandit D: “Got you!”
His axe descended onto Jim’s shoulder. *Clink* Unlike the man’s expectation, there was no fountain of blood, no sensation of parting flesh, it instead felt like striking an anvil. A look of shock wasn’t on the man’s face for long before his head exploded. ‘None of these guys are particularly strong, strength in numbers, right?’
It didn’t take long to mop all of them up once Jim got serious, the fort was drowned in blood. Detection prevented any of the bandits from hiding, the few who escaped the fort were quickly disposed of by his puppets.
Jim headed to the fort’s dungeon, the women inside didn’t seem startled by his appearance, they seemed to have given up hope and stayed curled up in fear. Sighing, Jim didn’t think he could convince them he wasn’t going to hurt them in a short time. Unfortunately, their fear prevented him from placing them in companion storage too. ‘What do I do about this?’
