Rise Of Destruction - Chapter 1
It was a stormy day and the rain was pouring on the homeless people outside.
The one observing this was a twelve-year-old boy from the second floor of the ugly looking orphanage.
His name was Amon and he was an orphan from the Jax orphanage and not surprisingly the orphanage was situated on Jax Street.
Jax street, on the other hand, was one of the slum streets in the small Cab town.
Amon was looking at the storm from his window which was just a square shaped hole in the wall, while on the wall there were all kinds of symbols which couldn’t be identified on Earth.
Those symbols were actually letters and surprisingly for an orphan boy from the slums, Amon had learned them, how to write and read.
For an orphanage that was in the slums, he was offered to be sold quite a few times but no one bought him because he was too ‘old’ for some people. He learned to read and write by the age of eight by stealing everything that could be read from everywhere.
He had tried to escape a few times but old Martha that was the owner of that orphanage caught him and he was beaten brutally. Before getting caught he decided to beat the old hag but to his surprise, she was moving so fast that he couldn’t see her.
Later he learned that she was a spirit contractor and had supernatural abilities. He didn’t know any other specifics but he knew that she wasn’t the only one who had a ‘spirit’. Everyone from outside the orphanage had one or two spirit contracts.
As for the reason why he had the mind to learn so many things for his age, it was because he gained his previous’s life memories from the blue world named Earth. He was happy for some reasons, like the fact that he could walk and sad for other things like the fact that life here was harder than it was on Earth.
There were no technologies or modern buildings. Everything seemed to be ancient, but people were stronger, faster and had unique abilities which allowed them to establish their civilization but strangely they did not pursue technological advancement. At least not in the small town of Cab.
The kids in the orphanage that was his age or younger, hated him because he didn’t really communicate or play with any of them. Amon didn’t like them too and he was always planning his escape.
Being more advanced in terms of knowledge and mind he was deemed to be a lone wolf in this orphanage. Amon often wondered why with his knowledge he wouldn’t have a spirit contract while Martha who could barely read had one.
“Everyone come down and get in line in the yard!” old Martha’s voice rang in the building and every kid including Amon headed towards the yard. In the yard, there was a black-robed middle-aged man with moustaches who looked at the kids lining up, with his hands behind his back.
“This is mister Var and he is here to ado…” before managing to finish her sentence Var made her a hand sign to shut up and said “I’m looking for a servant for my master. Give me the smartest kid here.”
Amon was shocked. He knew that the orphanage sold kids to all kinds of people but no one ever voiced their target like this man just did. Plus he was the smartest kid here, he felt that all his plans were going down the trench.
“This is the smartest kid here! Amon come here now!” ordered Martha as she looked towards Amon as if he was a bag of gold coins. A boy that could write and read was sure to be expensive.
“Amon… it’s a good name but his family name shall no longer be Jax. Just Amon until the master has decided to bestow him a name. How much?” asked Var as he took a small pouch from under his robe.
“It will cost 140 copper coins sire…” answered Martha. As far as Amon knew copper was the lowest currency here and even though it hurt his pride, it didn’t hurt as much as the fact that he was going to be a servant but it was still better than staying in the orphanage.
Var threw her two silver coins after which he looked towards Amon and told him to follow him. They got out from the orphanage and Amon saw that as soon as they got out four guards were ‘accompanying’ them to somewhere.
Looking at the beggars on the street and how they stared at them, Amon felt that it was indeed good to have guards with them. Soon they reached a carriage and Var signalled Amon to get inside.
After getting inside Var started asking him various questions. “How old are you?”, “Do you know who your parents are” etc.
Amon answered all questions but when Var asked him about whether he had his spirit ceremony Amon was baffled. Seeing his expression Var asked another question. “Can you read?” Amon nodded and saw Var taking out a paper from his robes after which he gave it to him.
“Learn this now, when we arrive you will be managed by Miss Leyra. ” after saying that Var no longer spoke to Amon, who started reading the piece of paper.
The headline was ‘Pact with Magic’ and it included various hand seals with certain breathing rhythms. Next was the description of the goal for these sets of breathing and hand seals. This amazed Amon as this was literally making a contact with the Spirits. He had a chance to make a spirit contract!
He tried and tried but nothing happened and after an hour they arrived. It was already getting dark and Amon moaned after which he looked where they were and was left shocked.
‘Roger’s Manor’. It was an enormous grey manor with front gardens as for the back Amon couldn’t tell. “Sir Var is this the new servant?’ asked a fat woman at the gate.
” Yes, his name is Amon, I will be leaving him under you Leyra.” after saying that Var walked towards the main entrance while Amon was left with Leyra.
“Boy, can you read?” asked Leyra as she looked towards Amon. “Yes, I can miss.” said Amon as he made a cute expression. He wasn’t that dumb. After gaining his past life’s memories he became smarter. It was normal for him to try to gain Leyra’s favour considering his past life’s painful experiences.
Now that he didn’t know his parents and entered this kind of magical world there was no one but himself who could obstruct him. He wanted to explore and become strong if possible.
Seeing his big brown eyes Leyra smiled. “Then you will be assigned in the library with old Lan. Follow me now.” next he followed behind Leyra’s large ass and they soon arrived in front of the library.
Inside there were lots of bookshelves which were at least five meters tall. There was a reception on which an old man was sitting. As soon as he saw Leyra entering the library he stood up.
“Lan this is your new helper. Give him a room and explain to him what are the rules and make sure he fits here.” after saying that Leyra departed while old Lan made a ‘follow me’ hand sign to Amon.
“This is your room boy. Your food will be brought by the maids around dawn for breakfast, lunchtime too and dinner time. Clean up a bit and the room will be fit for living.
The only rules you should know is that you need to bow when you see the young master or miss, or anyone at all from Roger family. You can read all the books here when you don’t have anything to do.”
