Rise Of Destruction - Chapter 14
Amon was dodging and parrying most of the time and would sometimes return attack back. To everyone, it seemed that they were even but actually, Thomas had an advantage of 60% while Amon had the rest 40%.
It’s not that Amon was weaker in terms of techniques but rather experience with battles and fights.
Clanging sounds resounded along with thudding sounds as with each step they took, they would rise a small cloud of dust.
“He’s actually fighting Thomas on par! What a talented monster!”
Hearing the comments the crowd was making, Thomas humphed as his hand started to glow with fiery energy.
“This is the [Melting Stone Fist]!”
Seeing that the enemy was about to use a skill, Amon wasn’t going to leave himself behind.
‘BOOM’
A palm and a fist collided. [Fire Palm Blast] which was comprehended at the initial stage by Amon, met the [Melting Stone Fist] which was comprehended by Thomas at a level higher than Amon.
Dust raised and some of the weapons from the stands fell while some disciples were pushed back by the force of their collision. Amon had backed four steps while Thomas only four.
Even though they were surprised, the more surprised one was Nessa, the girl Amon attacked first. She couldn’t understand how did this kid had the ability to fight someone whom she revered.
“Enough!” said the elder as he jumped between Amon and Thomas, parrying the sword and staff which were about to collide again.
In terms of pure power, Amon could rely on his tempered body while Thomas relied more on his skills and experiences from fighting, their cultivation was even so it couldn’t count.
“You can’t fight here and now. Youngster go on your way, Thomas you too!” commanded the elder.
“The fight ended like that!”
“He could almost rival Thomas!”
Hearing the comments from the dispersing crowd, Thomas’s face reddened as he shouted towards Amon.
“Amon! Let’s have a duel fair and square on the Fiery Arena after one week from now!”
“One week? Are you sure?” asked Amon, who had the thought that he could increase his battle power in such amount of time.
“Yes!” responded the fuming Thomas.
“See you after one week then.” after saying that Amon walked towards the spear and similar kinds of weapons training zone under the gaze of the shocked public.
——-
Getting inside the weapon training hall Amon saw a tablet with directions inscribed on it. There were only two directions, Close Combat Hall and Long Range Combat Hall.
Walking on the path towards the Close Combat Hall, Amon saw many disciples with axes, staffs and swords. Soon he arrived in the hall.
There were battle rings and dummies for practice, also people were in groups, varying by their weapons. Looking around Amon saw the group which had staffs on themselves and walked towards them.
“Hello, seniors and teacher. Can I train with you?” asked Amon as his gaze was focused on the middle-aged man with the elder badge, who also seemed to have a dark spear on his back, which had red lines on some places. This was clearly magic equipment.
“What is your name, newcomer?” asked the man as he looked towards Amon.
“My name is Amon.” responded Amon after which he cupped his hands.
“Okay Amon, you can train with us, but first you will be tested so that I can see your level at which your weapon use is. Before that, however, my name is Elder Tai Zi and I’m responsible for the spear, staff and guandao group but I’m also okay with being called teacher too. Verdon, come forward and test your new comrade.
A 17-year-old looking youth stepped forward with an arrogant face. “My name is Verdon Garcia. Let’s begin!” after saying that Verdon took a step forward and stabbed with his staff.
Amon in return was already prepared as his spear hadn’t left his left hand even when he was cupping his fists. He knew that there were all kinds of individuals here after his fight with Thomas so he did not dare to let his guard down.
Since Verdon stabbed by using lots of his physical power, supported by the forceful step he took, his staff was closing towards Amon at a quick rate in a straight direction.
Amon did not idle. It was easy to avoid this spear but he chose to deflect rightwards and attack. Verdon didn’t manage to react quickly and his body was left open. Before he could make another move, he felt Amon’s staff on his shoulder, even touching his chin. Thus, Verdon was defeated in one move and didn’t dare to move.
“Amon you’re good! I won’t have another student test you as it would be a waste of time. I will test you myself so you better not disappoint me.” said Tai Zi as he took the staff from one of his students.
Amon breathed in and looked at Tai Zi with wary. He closed his eyes and his consciousness sunk in his recent memories of battle. From the arena to the battle with Verdon. In the span of seconds, Amon tried to remember the most important bits of these fights and opened his eyes.
Tai Zi was there and was making him the hand sign ‘come’ with his one hand, while the other gripped the staff, which was currently held straight.
Taking two light steps forward Amon stabbed two times towards the cheeks of his new teacher. Those stabs would first scrap by his shoulders before reaching their final destination- Tai Zi’s face.
Tai Zi, however, wasn’t a teacher for nothing. As expected by Amon, this teacher easily blocked his stabs. What surprised him however was that Tai made a light move yet Amon almost dropped his staff from that one move. Amon wasn’t the only one who was surprised. Deep in Tai Zi’s eyes, his surprise could be seen.
Who would’ve expected that this kid had a good physical power despite his age? His cultivation didn’t seem to be lower too!
‘I will use my full strength!’ thought Amon as he gripped the spear with all he had.
Clanging sounds of metal colliding could be heard along with ragged breathing. Amon was using his full but he was still pushed back.
The fight was in the beginning in the second minute but Amon felt like an eternity had passed. The disciples had shocked faces as they looked at the battle that was happening in the ring.
Amon, however, couldn’t even hear them or see them you could say. His full attention was on the teacher who he was currently battling, everything else was an object which had no importance.
In the end, with a flashing move, Amon’s staff was flung away by Tai’s last move. Amon staggered and fell on his butt while putting his two hands in front of his chest.
“I surrender,” he said with a smile as he rubbed his wet palms which had lots of bruises currently.
The feeling, it excited him. He fell in love with it. He longed for more battles which could help him improve.
“Ha-ha Amon! You’re actually a prodigy! What you lack is an experience! From now on you will spar with me and train along the prodigies and advanced students if that’s okay with you!” said Tai Zi as he looked at Amon as he was a treasure.
“It would be my pleasure, however, I will also train with the hand to hand combat with the group responsible for it.” responded Amon with a big smile.
