Rise Of Destruction - Chapter 28
Tying the bag which was full of valuables from the beasts that he had killed, Amon proceeded with another bag which contained fruits.
Two days had passed since he had climbed the big tree and found Blood Racing Peaches.
During these two days, he fought beasts at the level of the Kerchak Gorilla King and found quite a lot herbs and fruits, but none of them matched the rank of the Blood Racing Peaches and he had decided to exchange them for merits after he returns back to the sect.
Now he was training and doing his hobby when he could – drawing and painting.
In terms of strength, there wasn’t a very big increase but when it came to his character, he was becoming calmer yet when it came to fighting he would become wild as a beast.
Most of the beasts would enter a frenzied mode when they were about to die and Amon was sometimes put into danger by that, so he learned how to counter it, and that was to fight like them.
Becoming wilder was a change Amon was going through unconsciously as he was calm most of the time, especially while drawing and painting.
It was a normal day of training, fighting beasts, practising skills and it was soon time for the dances of Gan Jiang and Mo Ye.
Amon was dancing as usual, fast, when something happened inside his body.
‘Argh…’
Amon began puking blood as he fell on his knees, his vision became cloudy and reddened, while his breathing became ragged.
Getting sick at his level of magic was hardly possible as most sicknesses were either result of practising a skill, poison or curses.
Becoming sick was rare but once it happened, it was a scary sickness which might even take the life of the mage.
Barely walking back to the cave, Amon popped a few pills in his mouth before he blacked out on his bed which was made from red wolf fur.
‘I can’t get sick… the duel with the Watery Battle Sect is after two months…’ were his last thoughts…
——–
Waking up Amon cleaned himself and sat down to meditate. His head was heavy and he was sweaty. It was normal for him to sweat considering his location but he usually did not sweat, only during training.
A headache, stomachache and his whole body in total hurt but pure will kept him on.
‘I need to go back in the sect…better safe than sorry…but no one must learn that I’m sick..’
Thought Amon as he put his bags on his back. He wasn’t going to abandon his prize, he was ‘I bet my life but not my money’ kinda person right now.
Mostly, he believed he could hold on till the sect. He could stay here too but if his condition worsened there would be no one to help him, rather eat him!
He was drowsy and shaking while running but he was okay.
‘Keep yourself in control…how did I even get sick…’
While running, Amon would stop from time to time as he had to puke. Just as he was cleaning his mouth…
‘MrrR’ a wildcat was walking around him, seeing that he was sick, an easy prey.
Looking at the puma, Amon just put his hand on Scorchmourne and waited for the puma to attack.
He didn’t want to waste much energy plus the puma was two stages below him.
‘Roarr…Meoww…’
‘More like a kitty rather than a puma…’ thought Amon as he continued running without turning back. His bag was full plus he didn’t want to waste any more time.
Dealing with his illness would be possible in the Scorching Battle Sect but it had to be done secretly. Amon was planning on exchanging his merit points for medicines.
His movement skill [Sand Burning Steps] was trained at the late Initial Stage of skill comprehension and he could move at a speed of 11 or 13 meters per second but now…8 meters was the best he could do.
Wasting too much energy in this condition wasn’t a good idea, not until he reached the zone with Initial Realm beasts.
Travelling for four hours Amon finally reached the Initial stage beast zone and stopped to eat in order to refresh himself. He wanted to reach the sect as soon as possible and had to eat even though he knew he would puke it later on.
Here beasts were intimidated by his spiritual pressure and dared not attack him except if they didn’t want to die.
Finishing his dinner, Amon continued on his way at full speed. Three hours later he arrived in the sect, looking well and healthy.
Well, and healthy but his real condition was far worse than that. Everything was aching but he was covering up his pain well.
There was a small shop where valuables could be exchanged for merit points. Going there, Amon placed everything but the mysterious glass-like rock, the horn and the scales of the Black Nefarious Python and the Blood Racing Peaches.
“In total, I can give you 340 merit points. Take it or leave it.” said the old woman at the reception.
“I take it…” responded Amon and placed his badge on the table. This amount of merit points seemed to be good for him.
As he was placing his badge back, a hand landed on his shoulder and he heard a similar voice.
“How are you, Amon? Back so early?” It was Tai Zi and his breath smelled of wine too.
“I’m okay…can I have a bit?” asked Amon as he looked at the gourd.
“Yeah go on…Amon, are you really feeling well?” asked Tai Zi with a serious expression, no longer seeming drunk as he looked at Amon who was drinking heavily.
“I am alright, teacher thank you,” said Amon as he wiped the red wine from his lips. It helped reduce the pain,to a certain extent.
Amon the sect leader would like to see you and let you choose a treasure that will assist you in the fight with Valeera…Follow me since im busy and won’t be able to bring you there later…” Not leaving room for negotiation Tai Zi began leading the way.
They went around the mountain and Amon would continue drinking Tai Zi’s wine but Tai Zi didn’t say anything much about it.
Arriving in front of a cave, Tai Zi stopped.
“Go in Amon. Pick a weapon and come to see me when you feel better…” after saying that, Tai Zi disappeared before Amon could turn around to return him the gourd.
