Rise of The Anti God - Chapter 748: The Founder
Damien walked towards her with a baffled look and stood beside her while staring at this large gathering of all the servants and maids.
All of them were silently standing with their heads lowered, not even daring to look in her direction. But Damien could see that their expressions weren’t looking too good, especially the older ones.
“This is Damien, my human slave, but when it comes to decisions, he will be ranked higher than the head servant. Every single one of you will make sure to remember this. Those who don’t will have their tongues and eyes plucked out,” Akira said in a firm tone that resounded across the entire hall.
Ranked higher than even the head servant? Doesn’t that make this lowly human slave the master of this tower who reports only to the Chief herself?…All of them felt aggrieved hearing this shocking order since they never saw this coming.
Human slaves were nothing but useful garbage they could throw out anytime. They never thought one of them would be given such an important position in the house right away.
Was this human slave that good to deserve such treatment?
Imagining how they would have to watch themselves around this human slave made their nerves twist in disgust and anger.
But no matter how much indignation they felt, they didn’t dare to refute their Chief’s words and forced themselves to nod while trying to maintain a straight expression.
Akira’s cold gaze passed over each and every one of them, making their bodies shrink as they nodded again to make sure she didn’t misunderstand. They loved their eyes and tongue, after all.
Damien didn’t feel surprised to see that the old man who tried to have him crippled wasn’t here anymore. He couldn’t believe his aunt had taken care of him this fast.
Mira, who was watching this from a distance, had a piqued expression since she didn’t also like this half-human, though it was not like she felt like hating him, considering he did save her life.
But she didn’t like how her Master had so much blind trust in someone she met only today, even if he was blood. Even if he was a ghoul in every way, someone like her shouldn’t place her trust in him like that.
Mira felt that she had to try and talk to her Master when they were alone.
“Mira, follow us,” Akira said as she turned around to walk away after saying her piece.
The maids and servants stood there without moving a single muscle till their Chief was out of sight.
*Cleak!*
The sound of large, thick steel-reinforced wooden doors being opened echoed across the hall as Akira led Damien into a large dark hall. There were fire torches adorning the walls, lighting up the place but not too bright.
But what overwhelmed him was the rich air of nethereal energy in this hall that welcomed him. The energy here was surely stronger and denser than outside. It was making him feel stronger, though he could feel his ethereal energy getting suppressed.
The stone walls seemed to have withstood the test of time, and the flagstone floor felt cold to his feet.
There were silver banners hanging from the ceilings, which made Damien curiously look at them, especially upon seeing the symbol of a dark purple snake baring its large fangs.
‘A snake?’ Damien wondered why his Godwin Family had such banners.
And the next thing that caught his eye was all sorts of weapons, cultivation arts, armor, and so on.
“As you might have guessed, this is not only a weapons room but also a training room. This is the place you will be using whenever you want to train or cultivate. Our ancestors thought that training and cultivation should be done in the same place instead of separate ones. Only that way can we gain enlightenment of the Nethereal Path quickly. Mira will help train you here. She will do her best to make you catch up. Even though it might take some time, I believe you will be able to do it faster than anybody else,” Akira said confidently.
“I shall do my best, Master,” Mira said with a bow even though she wasn’t feeling that eager to teach this halfling.
Akira then looked at Damien and asked gently, “Which weapon do you prefer? You can choose any. What you see here is the best among the best. You can also pick any cultivation arts you want but considering you are a scion of our Godwin Clan, you are allowed to try and learn our sacred lightning arts…the Starfall Lightning Arts. It is said that the founder of our Clan, the Purple Thunder Knight, had broken past the mortal barriers and ascended to godhood. But he left behind this art as a gift for his descendants, who can use it to carry on what he left behind. I cultivate the very same arts, and I am sure you would be able to reach new heights if you can master it.”
Mira had her eyes widened, seeing how her Master was offering the clan’s most precious cultivation art to him. Even if she had the lightning seed, she was sure her Master wouldn’t allow it since only blood members were allowed to cultivate it.
Damien was excited to know such an amazing cultivation art was free for him to learn. He had already witnessed how powerful his aunt’s lightning prowess was, and it surely made him eager to do something similar.
“Of course. It would be an honor to try and learn such a powerful, ancient art. I am afraid I might get used to you spoiling me, aunt,” Damien said with a hearty chuckle.
Akira subtly smiled as she caressed his hair and said, “You can get used to it because everything I have is yours anyway.”
Mira’s eyes were twitching uncontrollably, seeing how much her Master was pampering this halfling who was also bold enough to act so friendly with her. She had never seen such a soft, gentle side to her Master…not even in her dreams.
If this goes like this, wouldn’t this half-human be sitting on the most powerful chair of the Ghoul City one day?
