Rise of The Immortal Wraith - 42 Plans Coming Together
Salem examined the war table in his makeshift command center, the reports that had come to him in the last few hours were surprisingly positive. The citizens of Koftas were actually fleeing towards him and his army and seeking refuge from the noble houses that had gone mad at the thought of controlling the entire city and the many lands it owned, even if those lands were currently occupied by an undead horde. He had commanded those foolish lords to fight amongst one another and in their now broken minds, they had unleashed their pent up desires and frustrations during the civil war.
With the support of the nobles he had invited to dine with him before the civil war had been unleashed the citizens were reaffirmed that it was safe to trust the elves and that they were only here to protect them and end the civil war swiftly and remind them that there was a true enemy at the gate who did not come to conquer them or the land but to destroy them as species or in this case because they were alive.
Turning away from the maps he gave the order to march upon the city to his commanders, after they left the tent he sent a mental command to his newest subordinates and ordered them to launch a full-scale attack against one another. The city began to stir as the larger forces began to move their troops into position, their main target was the city lords faction at the center of the city.
Unbeknownst to Salem, as the sunset upon Koftas, a massive Skeleton rose from his throne and as he moved so did the massive horde of undead begin to stir.
Salem mounted his risen horse and rode at the front of his legion of wraiths, turning to his girls he gave out the command to stay hidden until the final battle had begun, they would surround the human forces and give them the opportunity surrender, of course if they didn’t give a prompt answer he had no issue with destroying them outright. He took his time getting into position as they rode through the streets, as they made their way into the depths of the city they passed by corpses and the destitute citizens, he stopped and gave each of them the news that the southern wall was safe with food and shelter available to them.
He received their gratitude and tear-stained faces at the relief he had brought, looking away from the most recent citizen he heard shouting and banging coming from a house not far from his main path, making his way to the house he heard the shouting suddenly stop, but he heard quiet sobbing. Salem frowned and kicked the door in and looked about the small house, in a moment he took in the scene of the entire house, a dead man lay next to the entrance not far from him was a woman her clothes had been torn away leaving her mostly bare. If she was still alive she would have been quite beautiful but the look of pain sadness and fear stained her face in death, she had been pinned to the floor with a broadsword through her chest, by the expanding pool of blood he could tell she had died only a few moments ago. Looking past her he saw a naked man, a young boy who had his face beaten and a young girl whom the naked man was approaching her. Not giving it a second thought Salem threw his spear.
It struck the man in the stomach and swept him forward past the two youths, he didn’t stop moving till he was pinned against the wall, he grunted in pain and tried to remove himself from the spear. Salem summoned a few wraiths into the house and had them removed the children from the house, he approached the pinned man the anger rising in his chest as he remembered the quiet sobs of the children. He reached forward and pinned the mans face against the wall and whispered into the man’s ear, “I do not know what motivated you to destroy this family but I am going to hurt you in a similar fashion luckily for you I don’t have a lot of time for this.”
Salem summoned his tails and used them to spread the man against the wall, grabbing his spear he twisted and pulled it out of the man, the man looked back and began to beg for his life and gave apologies and promises of wealth and repentance and other nonsense. More tails began forming as the man’s manic rambles became more annoying Salem burrowed his tails through the man’s back and into his soft flesh.
“In your next life, you should behave yourself.” Salem then tighten his grip on the man’s legs and arms and pulled him in four different directions, the man squealed like the pig he was until arms and legs ripped away from his torso, in disgust Salem flung the body away, he made his way back to his horse and sent the children to his home, he would remove their memories of this tragedy after he was done dealing with the humans.
He remounted his horse and picked up the pace towards the city’s center, closing his eyes he watched through the eyes of his newest wraiths as they waged war on each other. There was no strategy as they ran through the streets, killing anyone who didn’t have the same crest or colors of their family. Arriving halfway through the battle he gave the order for archers to take to the rooftops, he sent word to his commanders to begin moving forward to box in the human armies. He summoned his armor and wore his mask, riding his horse slowly towards the humans, it only took a few minutes before he caught up with them, he drew his spear and brought his mount to a stop.
Taking a moment to look over the battlefield he channeled his energy and spoke, his voice was neither loud or soft but it was heard by everyone in the chaos, “Lords of Koftas, by invitation of the noble houses of your city I, Salem Beleghast, Lord of the Mountain have come to mediate an end to this civil war. The ruler of your city should be determined after the undead threat has been dealt with, this slaughter of one another only weakens your defenses and will lead you and your clans into destruction. So I urge you now to lay down your arms and return to your homes.”
The soldiers looked about the field of battle in slight shock as the voice faded, as they looked around they saw the large army surrounding them, they looked to the lords of their houses waiting for orders. A quiet stillness crept over the soldiers, they saw the thousands of lances pointed toward them. “How dare an elf scum command us! Men, kill these interlopers!”
Many of the lords of mid-sized houses and all of the larger houses voiced similar lines of racism and orders, the soldiers briefly hesitated before turning towards the elven army. Salem smiled under his mask, he didn’t even plan for that first outburst but otherwise it had gone according to plan. He raised his hand, his commanders surrounding the battlefield followed his action, moments after there was a hissing sound in the air. Looking up the soldiers saw the horrific sight of thousands of arrows raining towards them, “Shields!” came an abrupt shout but it was too late. The arrows arrived in waves, the deadly swarm did not stop for five minutes straight and by the time it did the human armies were decimated.
“Move forward, collect the bodies and have them sent back to Void city arrest the living and kill anyone who resists!” Turning his head away from the battlefield he looked toward the gates of Koftas. He could feel a surge of energy flowing into his trees as undead rushed into his forcefields, they kept coming and pushing deeper into the fields it would only be a few hours before they broke through to the trees and destroyed them. The most surprising thing was that it wasn’t just Koftas that was under full assault but Idos was under assault as well, though they were going to fare far better than Koftas who had a large portion of their forces decimated.
