Rise of The Immortal Wraith - 7 Race Through the Night Gore
“Why are you staring at me? Should I not have taken off your armor?” Salem awkwardly asked the teen on the bed who had been staring at him since he had introduced himself. A look of panic flashed across the face of the youth, “Wheres my armor!?,” she hissed at him, blushing, “and why were you naked in the middle of the street earlier!?” continued the girl.
Tilting his head a little to the side, ” I didn’t know you were a girl, you hid it very well underneath that ill-fitting armor you had on, why were you hiding it? Oh and because when I got here I wasn’t wearing any clothes, I had to borrow the ones I found in this building and then you woke up and you still haven’t told me your name.” He replied staring at her grey eyes, then he pointed to the pile of armor next to the bed and smirked.
Seeing that smirk her brows creased and followed to where he indicated, lying on the ground was her armor, her clothes were untouched she was a bit relieved that nothing had happened while she was unconscious. She reached for her armor and winced taking a quick gasp of air, ” I wouldn’t do that, you have multiple cracked and bruised ribs with what I assume is a broken ankle. You won’t be able to run away much less fight, you should just wait here till the battles over-”
Dang! Dang! Dang!
Looking towards the belltower within the keep he was curious, “Whatever could that mean, hey you what does that mean when they ring it like that,” looking at her now there was a slight panic in her eyes, walking to her he grabbed her by the shoulder shaking her from the panic, “It means the outer wall is lost and we should retreat to the keep before the gates shut….but I cant walk you should go you can easily make it if you hurry.” she said in a quiet voice
He thought out loud, “I just dragged you here so you wouldn’t die, looks like there is just a little more to go.”Putting one arm beneath her legs and one behind her back and lifted her up, catching her off guard she wrapped her arms around his neck, “What do you think you are doing? let me down- “quiet” he interrupted her tantrum.
“If I leave you here you will die, you asked me for help and that’s what I plan to do, besides if we don’t go now we will both die. There are hundreds of skeletons coming down from the walls as we speak,” running barefoot out of the doorway and into the streets, he made a sprint for the keep.
Passing through the streets he could hear the sounds of battle, especially from the main street that lead to the keep. Explosions, he assumed was a wizard doing, and screams echoed over he could feel the heat as the streets got closer together, as he was passing an alley he slowed down to look inside bile rose to the back of his throat as he saw the massacre that had taken place here, there had only been a few men and women but there were over a dozen tiny bodies scatters about in tiny bloody pools, the most horrifying of all was 3 small wrapped bundles soaked in blood with a small hand poking out of the blanket.
He stumbled back out of the alley, pushing the girl he was holding onto a crate, he doubled over and puked the bile in his stomach onto the ground. Shaking his head to clear his mind, he was unsure why he felt such disgust at these sights, wiping his mouth, he picked up the girl who was now crying back in his arms.
He ran, he ran to get away from that disturbing sight. He ran up the street to another alley connecting to the main road coming to the end of the alley, peeking his head out the alley, he saw that the keep was to his right while soldiers and undead fought on the road while citizens were rushing into the gates entering the safety of the castle’s walls.
He moved from the alley to the road jogging to the gates, two soldiers ran towards him shouting “Lady Renwei!,” giving the teary-eyed girl to the guards he spoke in a calm voice, “Shes injured get her to a healer or she might lose the ability to walk if it goes untreated,” they looked at each other and nodded and ran back to the gates, with Salem following them through he went without being noticed, he climbed onto the battlements and watched the battle below.
A large man dueled against and undead covered in plate mail with a huge mace, to the left of the duel, there were two figures standing 20 yards apart, one was in black robes and hunched over with a red and black barrier surrounding him that was being bombarded by explosions of flame. The figure launching the flames was in red and white short robes with a hood covering their face, as time passed in the battle that had become a stalemate the warrior was shoved back by the untiring undead he faced.
Blow after blow rained down on the humans’ shield the exact reverse of the mages duel was occurring in the melee, Salem could see power gathering into the mace, was from his partner that the mace gained that energy,” Watch Out!,” he yelled to the human warrior. Hearing the warning and sensing danger, he threw his shield at the oncoming mace which stopped for only a moment before the shield shattered into bits.
The mace missed the intended target and struck the paved road creating a small crater there in landed, a soldier came from a nearby alley and struck against the massive undead’ neck creating a small fissure in the armor. The undead turned on the young man grabbing his arms, he then pulled those arms out of his sockets and off of his body.
Screams rang across the battlefield for a brief moment before the undead grabbed the man by his skull and crushed it into pulp, this brutal killing to scare his enemies backfired a moment later, as the human warriors’ sword slashed through the weakened armor at the neck removing a head from its shoulders.
The undead mage roared from behind his barrier but instead of attacking he fled the battlefield any undead that had a mind of their own fled with him outside the city. The warrior and the mage walked back to the keep with an entourage of soldiers, as they entered the two soldiers that had taken that girl from him reported to the warrior.
In a loud and gruff voice, he spoke to the crowd, ” Which one of you made my daughter cry?!.”
