Rise Of The Ussr In Another World - Volume 1 Chapter 3 The System
Add looked at the stats and then at his skinny body and sighed, from the trained and robust body of a soldier he had become a pretty boy who probably couldn’t truss a chicken on his own. However n no way did he not appreciate the good looks he had now, which were much better than that of his past life. After all a body could be trained, but you could do little to ‘train’ your looks.
“This is not what I would have liked..but I guess beggars cannot be choosers after all. I got to live again, I should be content with that much…..for now let’s just live as this lord Weismann.. I have nowhere else to go in this world anyway”
Turning his attention back to the system, he looked over his status once gain to confirm the values and then asked.
“So what exactly do you doSystem?”
[The System provides you, the Host, a multitude of features which will help you achieve greatness. It can do anything that you wish, given that you have enough Credit Points!]
“What are these Credit Points ?” the new term was unknown to him. He had seen it in the status menu but didn’t know what exactly it was.
[Credit Points or CP is the currency used by the system. You may earn CP by completing missions given by the system and completing achievements, as well as exchanging valuables with the system or by killing living this or sentient objects. As long as you have Enough CP you can even become an immortal, and laugh at the heavens !]
Disregarding the cringe lines, Add was quite interested. It seemed that he could really benefit a lot from this system, which was mysterious yet strangely intriguing. In his previous life all he did was killing people and fighting. This time since he had got a second chance he decided to live life to the fullest in his own way. But for that he needed strength. In this world there were no laws or morals to protect the weak, and they could only be at the mercy of the strong. As such, having a cheat like system was a massive advantage.
“System, What are Stat points and Skill points ?”
[Host can use stat points to enhance your Attributes while Skill points can be used to enhance skills. Each time you level up, you will obtain 2 Stat points and 2 Skill points. Some missions may also reward stat points and skill points, and finally they can also be exchanged for CP.]
“So how do I increase my level ?”
[Experience (Exp.) is required to level up. Experience can be gained by killing living things and sentient beings and also by completing quests issued by the system. The Missions will reward both CP and Exp. Completing achievements will also give CP and Exp. rewards. ]
He was bit interested in the so called missions. The system explained that they were quests similar to those found in RPGs and gave rewards for completing specific tasks. To him they seemed to be like those orders he used to get as a soldier, with the reward part excluded, that was just his salary altogether.
[Ding! Missions are tasks which when completed give rewards of CP, Exp. or both. Host, please complete the Mission as Instructed to receive said rewards.]
“How are these missions chosen for me and on what basis ?”
[The system cannot answer that question. All it can say is that the system never gives any meaningless missions. All missions are made so that they will benefit the host in some manner or other. Please don’t doubt the system’s intentions an dutifully complete the missions]
[Ding! User has 3 unused Lottery chances! Would you like to use them ?]
Right after the system had finished he saw an alert appear before him. He remembered he system giving those lottery tickets a few minutes back so that must be for this. Without any particular hopes he chose
“Yes”
[Ding! Spinning the Prize wheel!3]
[Ding! User has won Basic Health Serum 5]
[Ding! User has won KM777-C Combat Knife 1, Grade Rare]
[Ding User has won Special Skill Imaginary Time Lv.1]
“System what are these Items ?” Add asked. The things were looking quite interesting to him.
[ Basic Health serum : It is a healing medicine which restores 50 points of HP on drinking it.
KM777-C Combat Knife : A standard knife issued to Soldiers of a Distant world. Made of Titanium alloys, it is quite durable.
Attributes
Durability 40
Special Skill : Imaginary Time (Lv. 1) A skill which makes time appear slow for the user by boosting the processing speed of the brain and the reaction speed of the body. The higher the level of the skill, the greater is the time for which it lasts.
Warning! The usage of this skill puts extreme pressure on the user’s mind and body. Severe backlash on using this skill.
Current Level duration 10 seconds
Cool down 24 hours ]
“System give me one healing serum”
A corked glass tube much like the test tubes one used in the laboratories, with reddish liquid appeared in his hand. Add removed the cork and drank it in one gulp. It tasted quite sweet.
[Ding! You just used Basic Health Serum 1. You gained 50 HP. Current HP 100/100]
After drinking the serum, Add felt a slight itching at the back of his head, and a faint warmth spread all across his body after which the pains in his body and head disappear almost completely. He opened the bandage and was surprised to see that the wound which had taken the life of his predecessor was no more, it was all completely healed. He quickly put the bandage back on to prevent anyone from being suspicious. Such recovery speed was downright abnormal after all.
[Do you have any more questions ? Yes/No]
“Yes. Tell me how do skills work ?”
[Skills are the abilities a person has. They allow the user to perform specific functions more easily and efficiently. For example the skill [Unarmed combat] allows the user to fight more efficiently when fighting without any weapons. As the level of the skill increases its effects also increase.
Passive skills are always in effect or come into effect as soon as the conditions are met. Active skills need to be invoked.
The power and utility of a skill increases as the skill levels up. Skills can be bought by using CP or as mission rewards or by practicing, and a skill can be strengthened by using skill points. ]
“Oh what about the rank of weapons ? The knife also has them.”
[The weapons and equipment are graded into 7 grades : Normal < Rare < Unique < Magic < Epic < Legendary < Mythical < Chaos. Based on their attributes. With each Rank being stronger that its predecessor. Weapons can be strengthened and evolved using the Alchemy and Forging skills]
“Hmm so that is it. My knife is a Rare grade weaponwell it was used in the special forces after all.”
He was very familiar with the KM-777 combat knife, it was one of the most used knives in the military back home.
[Does Host have any more questions Yes/No ?]
“Not at the moment…”
[Host, now that you have become familiar with the basics, you can obtain more detailed information at the Help section in the Menu.]
[ Ding! The tutorial has now been completed!]
[To Dismiss the System say ‘Dismiss’ in your Mind and to open the menu say ‘Display Menu’ in your mind]
[Returning now to main menu!]
The screen returned to the Menu section which showed many icons, which were faintly glowing. Add kept asking the system for more details for this mission, but it refused to answer. Defeated, Add had no choice but to give up.

HELP
To take one step at a time, that was the best option for now. He selected the Help icon and began asking questions to the system. After about an hour of questioning and answering Add had understood the basics of the system. So he asked what he had in his head for some time now.
“System, where did you come from? Who made you ?”
[The System was made by a Higher Being. Any more details are unavailable as all records have been erased. The system has travelled across the multiverse in search of suitable hosts for zillions of years , until it found you! The only one compatible with this System !]
Add felt a bit strange as to why he in all the possible candidates was chosen, but the system just said that he was the only compatible host and refused to say anymore. He understood that he could not win over this strange fellow so he chose to ignore this question for now.
Add then went to the Skill Tree. It unfolded the screen into a panoramic view. The skills were divided into 7 main classes. Offensive Skills, Defensive Skills, Enhancement Skills, Magic Skills, Healing Skills, Crafting Skills, Academic Skills. From which many skills branched out in every direction, seemingly going on forever. Add even saw skills which could practically make him immortal down there, but they needed hundreds of billions of CP.
It seemed the system was not joking when it said that as long as he had enough CP anything was possible.
The Shop menu had everything up for sale. There were weapons, armours, Medicine, Machines, Buff items, Food, Furniture and almost everything. Add was surprised to see that there were modern machines as well as magical items too for sale. There were guns, Tanks, fighter jets, sh.i.p.s, and even Space sh.i.p.s! Which again cost astronomical amounts of CP. The system really lived up to its name.
The Inventory Stored things in a separate space. It had 50 slots, and Add learnt that he could increase the slots by using CP. The healing serum and combat knife were stored there, which could be take out through simple mental commands. But I had a severe disadvantage. He could only store items from the system shop in thios inventory. Anything other than that won’t be accepted.
The Missions menu showed the missions he had accepted from the system which was currently empty while the Achievements were also blank.
Add returned to the main Menu and Began wondering what to do with his 10,000 CP. He had a rough idea from Andrew’s memories that this world was much more dangerous place than Earth, so he needed to spend his CP wisely and most effectively.
“So then, what should I do first ?”
At that time Add had no Idea, that this was the beginning of his story. A story which would later go on to become a legend. This was the story fate had picked for him, yet how it would be written and how it would progress would be solely up to his actions and his actions only.

After understanding the basics of how this system worked, he understood that it was his greatest support in this world. He could absolutely never allow anyone to know about this, and he would take this secret to the grave. As he thought of his plans for the future, he had a headache. Dead in a war, and now stuck in a lawless world, with close to no physical strength to boot. Add mentally sighed, his predecessor was really a useless person, having wasted his life in gambling and useless things and was so weak that he died from a mere hit on the head. But he could not do anything lamenting for his deceased predecessor. To make his situation better, he decided to buy some basic skills from the shop. After looking through the skill trees and taking the advice of the system, he decided on a two skills for now :
_ _ _ _ _
Skill : [Body Strengthening (Passive) Lv. 1/20]
Effect : Current level : +5% to Strength. Next level +10% to Strength.
Description : A skill which increases the body’s overall strength by a certain amount per each level.

2,500 CP

Next, he wanted to buy a weapon, preferably a gun, having just a knife was nowhere enough to assure his safety. He now wanted to have a weapon for self protection. Naturally, the thing which came most readily to his mind was a gun, after all, he had grown up and lived over four decades using guns. Add had most experience in using rifles, although he could use any type of firearm, since he was trained to do so. He opened the system shop and searched for guns. A large list of weapons was immediately present before him. He browsed through handguns, revolvers and rifles. There were antique weapons like the “Springfield” and the “Colt M1911”, and then there were many weapons which he had never seen before.
After going through the prices and their technical details, Add chose to buy an Assault rifle. A handgun was alright as a side arm, but having a powerful main weapon was a must. He looked at the various guns and their models, and finally being a person from Russia, or having been a person from Russia he decided on a old legend which cost 2,000 CP.
_ _ _ _ _
Item : AK-47 Assault Rifle (Grade – Normal)
Description : It is a legendary firearm developed in the Soviet Union by the ingenious weapons’ designer, Mikhail Kalashnikov. Made of metal and wood components, it is unanimously recognized as being simple to operate, rugged, reliable under varying conditions, and amenable to mass production. Although its stability is its weak point, but its various advantages more than cover for it. Built around a 7.62 x 39 mm round, this weapon instils fear even in the toughest of men.
Durability : 250/250
_ _ _ _ _
The pride of the soviet infantry and Add’s personal favorite assault rifle, the Legendary AK-47. Officially it was known as the Avtomat Kalashnikova model 1947, also known as the Kalashnikov or simply the AK. It was the originating firearm of the Kalashnikov Rifle or “AK” family which have proved their calibre throughout history being the sole line of weapons to be produced the most widely all across Earth. It came with a with ribbed stamped-steel box magazine which held 30, 7.62 39 mm rounds. It could also be equipped with a 100 round drum magazine. With a muzzle velocity of some 700 metres per second, it had a cyclic firing rate of 600 rounds per minute and was capable of both semiautomatic and automatic fire. Its effective range was around 350 metres with adjustable iron sights. In a world where the opponents had no firearms, the AK had no match in its class.
Add chose the AK-47 for a variety of reasons. He had a very favourable impression of this weapon. It was a masterpiece among assault rifles, even after a century of its introduction, the model’s various derivatives and variants remained the most popular and widely used assault rifles in the world. Over 200 million of these guns hadf been built and its derivatives had surpassed the billion mark by the height of WW3, making it Earth’s most ubiquitous firearm. Some people even estimated that 9 out of every ten people killed in a military or armed conflict died of an AK 47. The AK-47 was still used throughout the earth when Add died. If you were to define “success” by how many folks it’s killed, then the AK-47 would undoubtedly be the most “successful” weapon ever made. However the most important factor was that it was cheap. It was the only assault rifle affordable to the current him.
The weapon was automatically stored in his inventory. Next he purchased a hand gun for a backup weapon. Going through the list of hand guns, his eyes quickly found what he had been looking for and he bought it for 1000 CP. The gun came with a single loaded magazine of 14 rounds.

Item : M20-A Semiautomatic Pistol
Description : This tactical pistol chambers the powerful .45 (11.5 mm) APC round. Its materials consist of modern heat resistant alloys with high tensile strength and along with high-durability graphene components, but its design is an upgrade of an age-old weapon, one of the very first semiautomatic pistols to be made, yet a proven killing tool.
Durability : 200/200
_ _ _ _ _
There was a reason why Add chose this particular weapon. This weapon had seen countless battles, and though there are more destructive pistols available, the M20 was the first choice for the armies of many nations on Earth. During WW3 this was a favourite side arm of many armies across Earth. In his time as a soldier had had used many pistols, yet this one had left a long lasting impression on him. It was also stored in the inventory.
Next he purchased 5, 30 round magazines for the AK with 500 CP and 4 magazines for the M-20 A for 250 CP, and they were automatically stored in the inventory. He now had 2,750 CP left. He then took out the AK and M20, which he could do by simply thinking, and inspected them. They were both in perfect condition, as if freshly rolled out of a factory. He could not help but wonder, where the system manifested these from. He put away the M20 in the Inventory and kept the AK on him. With the rifle in hand Add had a feeling of security. He slung the rifle around his chest.

Although the stats had no change, having some skills and a weapon to defend himself was good enough. Add felt that he was in a better situation compared to before.
“Well then let’s get a few levels sorted outhave to get this body strong as fast as possible”
_ _ _ _ _
Add found a closet in his room which had his predecessors clothes. Finding a decent set he changed from the coarse pajamas he was wearing to a simple cotton shirt and dull grey trousers. He left his room and went downstairs. Along the way he looked around and found that the house was slightly on the bigger side, but was quite simple in terms of design and decoration. He soon found a maid who was doing cleaning around the hallway and asked her to call Martha. He needed her help for now.
“What did you say again young master ?”
Asked Martha with a frown. Add who was now sitting on a couch, calmly repeated his words. A few maids and servants curiously looked at him, thinking what this carefree young master wanted now.
“As I said, I want to go to the hills to gather some experienceI realized I have been doing nothing but idling all my lifeI want to become a proper lord now, an in order to do that I must hone myself”
Martha almost had her jaw drop hearing him say such things. Ws this really the same good for nothing waste of a man, who would always try to make merry and care nothing about his life? When did he begin speaking such serious words. Still more than that she was worried about the injury he had suffered.
“Young Master it’s good that you want together some life experience, but you were seriously wounded and just woke up today after two daysI thik you should have rest for a few more days at least”
“I know you are worried, but I insist that I have to go. Of course I am not going right now as it is. I plan on leaving tomorrow morning. I would have to trouble you to prepare a horse for meand don’t worry.this time I won’t fall off.”
Martha still wanted to object. Although she was disappointed in this boy, he was the last surviving member of the Weismann family. She had watched him grow from a newborn baby and he was like a grandson to her. The hills Add talked of, were the forested foothills of the Great Dividing Ranges, near which the town was built. There were many dangers like monsters, bandits etc. in those hills. She knew of his strength and so naturally she would be opposed to him going there. But when she was about to further try and persuade him, something strange happened.
“Martha, I know what I am doing. Don’t worry I won’t repeat my foolery anymore..”
Add looked into her eyes and then left the hall. The old lady was rooted at her spot. Just now when she looked into the boy’s eyes she felt coldness, which made her shiver unconsciously. As if she was looking at a fierce hunter rather than the carefree boy she knew. She was completely puzzled and by the time she recovered, the Young Master had already left and all she could do was arrange his wishes.
The next morning.
Add, no Adolf Kaiser Weismann, the hedonistic young master of the Weismann family rode on a horse towards the hills. Add having spent most of life in the army had once served in the ceremonial cavalry brigade, and knew a decent bit of horse riding, so it was no trouble for him. He was accompanied by four guards who were forced onto him by Martha, or else the old lady won’t let him leave. Add reluctantly brought them along, he really felt weak against this grandma. Probably because she was the closest living person to a family his predecessor had, so the lingering emotions in the body were affecting him. Or perhaps e could see the genuine worry on her face that he surrendered, needless to say old lady Martha was a serious force in herself.
The town which the Weismann family lived in was called Rigel. It was built by the foothills of the Great Dividing Ranges. As a result, you could enter the vast mountains if you rode from the back of the town. It was said that there were numerous monsters, beasts and other races like Dwarves and many other creatures in these mountains. Some legends said that there were even dragons that lived scattered across the vast range. However, it was only legends and tales. People, generally only saw common beasts and monsters.
Add had spent the previous night studying in the study room of his late father. There were not many books as paper was rare and all books were hand written, making them very rare ad costly. He got little information from them, but it was better than nothing. He chose to go to the hills as they were close to the town, some 20 kilometres away and there were many monsters roaming around which he could kill to increase his level.
However, he had to be careful from the creatures inhabiting in the mountains. There were many things in there that could kill him like swatting a bug, and the way he was now, he was basically defenceless if not for the guns he had bought. But they were no guarantee that he would be safe, so he had to be very cautious. Before going to the hills, based on the inherited memory, he went up a hill quite close to the town. There was cemetery on its slopes surrounded by a flowering plants and trees.
This was the cemetery of the Weismann family. The guards stayed outside, as he alone went in. There were a few graves at the centre of the cemetery. All members, including Adolf’s mother, father, grandfather and grandmother were buried here. Add felt complicated emotions coming here. He was not actually one of the Weismann family, technically his body was but the soul had already departed. He looked at the few graves and bowed.
“I am sorry that I am borrowing your child’s body. I don’t know how to explain, or if my explaining will change anything. But I can promise you that in return I will make sure that all that the Weismann family stood for, I will achieve that, that would be my repayment to you all. The world will know of the Weismann family ad that I promise.”
Add mumbled. He didn’t care if those words reached where they should, but he was clear to himself. He owed this much to this family. He had got a new life in the body of the last member of this family, and he had taken his identity to live in this world. Naturally he would take the duties that came with it as well.
“I will visit againtake care”
He bowed again and left the cemetery. The next stop were the foothills. There was work to be done.
