Roll Land System: Release That Rock - Chapter 24
“This is?” Roland gasped. In front of him were dust particles of various sizes flashing into rocks before his very eyes. He quickly yelled outside to the guard stationed, “Get the Witch Association here!”
After all the witches were hurriedly gathered inside Roland’s small room, Roland asked, “Do any of you guys know what is going on with all these rocks suddenly changing?”
All the witches shook their head and Roland sighed, “Still the same answer, huh?” He thought about all the possibilities of what the dust balls transforming into rocks could mean. He looked at Anna and said, “Keep watch over these rocks and make sure no outsiders get to them. Also, tell the Alchemist Workshop to send the original rock back here.”
Anna walked forward to pick up the rocks when she exclaimed, “The rocks are spelling something!”
Roland quickly stepped around the rocks to face Anna’s angle. Sure enough, the rocks formed the words: The Church knows. Roland’s face displayed a shocked expression, but he quickly regained his composure. Decisively, he said, “This occurrence definitely has to do with magic. Do you think these rocks are with the church or just some other witch that we don’t know about?”
Leaning on the doorway, Nightingale reappeared and said, “It shouldn’t be from the Church. Why else would they warn us beforehand? If they know about us, they would probably have exterminated us already.”
After hearing about Roland’s discovery about the message, Dustin burst into laughter. He said happily to Dustina, “I can’t believe you managed it! We can communicate with the humans now!”
Dustina joined into his laughter and said, “Of course. Even though master is still only able to use rock magic, I figured that combining my mana with yours should be enough to cast rock magic temporarily. Sure enough, it worked.”
Dustina’s laughter lightened, however, as she continued, “Unfortunately, that was pretty much most of our dust balls. Just waiting for them to all get blown towards the right place took forever.”
Her voice quieting, she said, “Also, that took a surprising amount of mana. I think I’ll rest for a while.”
Dustin replied, “Me too. Do you think those dustballs that turned into rocks will be okay?”
Dustina said dismissively, “Oh Yeah, they’ll be fine. I trained them myself so diligently. Anyways, see you in a while.”
Dustina and Dustin went silent, leaving those poor rocks to fend for themselves in the world until Dustin and Dustina wake up.
Rock #1 mentally asked Rock #3, “Rock #3, are we really going to be okay? Our masters are gone.”
Rock #3 replied, “We still have the grandmaster. Master Dustin and Mistress Dustina told us that Grandmaster Rocky will help us when we ask him.”
Rock #1 felt a lightbulb pop off in his head, “That’s right! We could just ask the grandmaster to pick us up and teach us! Then all we have to do is wait with the grandmaster for our masters to wake up!”
Rock #4 broke into the conversation, “I hate to interrupt but how do we contact the grandmaster? We can only communicate mentally with our masters who went silent.”
