Roll Land System: Release That Rock - Chapter 26
At night, Faceless walked towards Roland’s castle as a beautiful young maiden. Upon seeing her, the guards stationed outside the gates stopped her and asked, “Is something the matter?”
Faceless acted panicked and said flustered, “I need help! Please!” She started to sob and say, “My father, his horse gone crazy and tossed him off! Help me get my father to seek medical attention!”
The guards glanced at each other and called behind them, towards the castle, “Station new guards temporarily. We’re going to help this young lady with a small task.”
After getting two new guards to take their shift temporarily, the two guards gestured to Faceless to lead the way.
With her back facing the two guards, they didn’t see Faceless sneer and mutter, “Fools.”
She turned around, keeping her faade and said, “This way!” She started taking them towards the main road into Border Town. After they arrived at the entrance of Border Town, she started leading the two guards into the woods off the side of the road. About a minute in she suddenly stopped.
One of the guards asked, “Is something the matter? Was he lost somewhere around here?”
Faceless gave a bone-chilling smile and replied, “Why, I’m sorry but I may have to inconvenience you both. Could you both please vanish from existence?”
The guards’ eyes widened, as they realized they had been had. They pulled out their swords and slowly approached Faceless cautiously. “Who are you? Who sent you?”
Faceless morphed in front of their eyes. Her cackling laughter changed from that of a young maiden to a muscular young man’s. She pulled out a dagger hidden within her clothes and replied, “Why, I am you.”
She ran towards the guard on the left and dodged a swing of his sword. She ducked his swings and, using the dagger, cut across his arm. The guard on the left dropped his sword in pain and Faceless stabbed at his heart.
She moved onto the last guard and said, “As for who sent me The Church sends its regards.”
She threw her dagger with rapid speed and it wedged itself into the heart of the last guard. After the two guards fell, Faceless brushed some leaves over their dead bodies and dressed up as one of the two guards.
A few minutes after the two guards left, the new shift of guards that were temporarily stationed was starting to find it suspicious. “How is it taking those two so long to find some man who fell off his horse? Didn’t that woman know where the man fell off of?”
As they were wondering, they saw a lone guard return with some minor injuries. They walked over to the guard and supported him by the shoulder. One of them asked, “Michael, what happened out there? Where are Jason and the girl who called you guys?”
Faceless, posing as Michael replied weakly, “Dead. That girl led us off and killed Jason. That girl was a witch who somehow managed to destroy Jason’s body before my eyes.” Faceless faked anguish and cried, “Jason died for me. He gave his life to help me escape. Let me see His Highness.”
Faceless clutched at the arms of the guards and asked desperately, “I must report this incident to His Highness.”
One of the guards sighed and said, “Alright. Tomorrow morning then. The Prince is most likely sleeping by now.”
Faceless sneered inwardly and thought, “A day or a night, what does it matter? Sooner or later I will find out whether Prince Roland has been harboring any fallen witches.”
