Roll Land System: Release That Rock - Chapter 27

Roland was sitting in front of his room drawing up new blueprints when he heard a knock on the door. He heard a voice on the other side of the door say, “Your Highness, it’s me, Carter.”

Roland told Carter to come in. Dressed inside a suit of armor, Carter walked over to Roland and placed a report on his desk. Roland picked it up and skimmed over it. Carter said, “Your Highness, this report just came in from the guard barracks. Last night there was an extremely suspicious activity with the death of a guard.”

Roland placed the report back onto his desk and furrowed his brows. “Your thoughts?”

Roland stood up and began to pace around as Carter said, “It is likely that there are witches involved. Our guards are well trained and should not have lost. The guard that came back stated it was witchcraft and it is certainly believable judging by the report. It didn’t mention what type of powers that witch had though.”

Roland nodded and said to Carter, “That’s enough, I have a good idea of the situation now. Tell Nightingale and Anna to find me.”

Carter nodded and stepped out the door. Not long after, Roland heard a voice behind him say, “You were looking for me, Your Highness?”

Roland turned around and found face to face with Nightingale. He nodded and said, “Yes. Also, is Anna here yet?”

He turned around and saw Anna appear before the doorway, “I just got here. What is it?”

Roland handed them the letter and said, “Remember the rocks that spelled how the Church seems to know of our activities? I think they sent a witch here already.”

Nightingale clutched at her dagger by her waist and stood up, “In that case, you want us to hunt that witch down?”

Roland shook his head and said, “I only want that witch captured to find out if she is truly with the Church. I’m not completely sure yet.”

Anna gave her thoughts and said, “We aren’t too sure of that witch’s powers, so we can ask Lightning and Leaf to keep a lookout in the woods. Nightingale can start interrogating the guards since she can tell if they are lying. If any of us find the witch first, we should alert the other witches in the Witch Association so that we have a higher chance of capturing her with minimal casualties.”

Roland nodded, “Stay safe everyone.” The group disbanded and the rocks all heard the plan.

Rock #1 asked Rock #2, “How should we help?”

Rock #2 responded, “There are so many of us when we gather dust particles, we can easily form a dust ball each time we all control a dust particle. We can create many of them and when one of us can use rock-level magic, we can quickly spell words out!”

At the guard barracks, Nightingale was interrogating Faceless. “Were you at the woods?”

Faceless nodded, “Yes.”

Nightingale continued, “What happened?”

Faceless recounted what she told the guards earlier. Nightingale’s eyes widened when she saw that Faceless was lying when hearing Faceless’ expression. Nightingale tried to not let any emotions slip out but it was picked up by Faceless.

Nightingale said, “It’s alright. Report back on duty.”

Faceless stood up and left. As soon as Nightingale was sure that Faceless left, she hurried to find Roland.
