Roll Land System: Release That Rock - Chapter 4
Rocky was perched onto a desk in Roland’s room. Rocky felt bored to death. There can only be so much to see in a room and it had already been a day or two with no differences. Roland waking up, eating breakfast, and going outside doing who-knows-what.
On such a plain occasion, Rocky felt like sleeping but, unfortunately, he is a rock and can’t sleep. While Rocky was blankly staring at the ceiling, he was jolted back to reality when the Roll-land system said, “User: Rocky should begin to cast dust-level magic. User: Rocky has reached 97% mana storage capacity.”
Rocky thought, “Oh right! Dust-level magic!” He added on sarcastically, “Such a useful magic! How could I forget such a powerful magic that would make tiny dust mites quake in fear?”
Dust-magic is a complicated type of lost magic. It requires the user to go through lengthy incantations to cast and it is extremely dangerous for Rocky. At the moment, he seems to be an ordinary rock with some mana stored inside. However, it really wasn’t much. It would probably take all of the mana stored in his body to take control of one dust-particle.
Rocky entered into a state of pseudo-meditation and he felt millions of dust particles around him, floating in the air or resting near him on the table. “Hmm… so much dust. What are Roland’s housekeepers doing?”
Rocky started the incantation in his mind. Unlike the powers of witches that could be used naturally, the Roll-land system gave him a special type of power that had not existed in this world before. The incantation was necessary to form a sort of bond between the dust particle and Rocky.
As Rocky continued along the incantation he was thinking, “Serve your Rock overlord, dust particles! While you may not be much now, I’ll get so many of you that I can eventually form a mountain! I shall get those measly humans to bow down before me in allergy season!”
Rocky could feel himself salivating at the prospect of having enough dust particles under his control to help move him around. After an hour or so, Rocky smiled inwardly in satisfaction. The particle he targeted is now under his control successfully.
The dust particle rested on the table in front of Rocky in a servile manner. Ignoring the fact that the dust particle could barely move on its own without colliding against another particle of dust, Rocky already felt like a god among all things dust.
He heard the dust particle speak through a mental connection, “Master, how may I serve you?”
Rocky paused his elation and stared blankly deep in thought. Suddenly, he felt a lightbulb go off in his head. “You, what’s your name?”
The dust particle replied humbly, “This one is called Dusty.”
Rocky, through the mental connection, shared images with Dusty of the other dust particles near him. “What are they called then?”
The dust particle briefly sat unmoving, appearing deep in thought before saying, “They do not have ‘life’ yet, master. Therefore, they are all currently nameless.”
Rocky felt enlightened and said, “You, Dusty, if you could grow up and become a human, would you prefer to be male or female?”
Dusty felt that Rocky’s questioning felt somewhat weird but still answered, “It is up to master. I have no desires except for carrying out master’s orders.”
Rocky said, “Alright. From now on, you will be a female! Your name is now Dustine! Oh also, your job is reconnaisaance! Tell me everything you see and hear around Roland’s castle!”
