Roll Land System: Release That Rock - Chapter 5
“Yes, master!” Dustine added timidly, “The thing is… there is other dust blocking my way and I can’t move that fast.”
Rocky shook a bit and asked, “Dustine, when can you start merging with other dust particles with dust magic?”
There was a brief silence before Dustine replied, “About a day?”
Rocky was surprised. It took him three days just to barely contract with Dustine. Judging from this rate, Rocky needs to contract a new dust particle every three days and it would probably take about three days for each dust particle to turn into a dust ball.
Rocky sighed inwardly, “Guess it’s time to play the waiting game again.”
It was getting dark outside when suddenly the window opened and a strong gale blew in, startling Rocky and blowing away Dustine who was screaming as she flew away.
“Wha- what is this? Such poor structural integrity! A strong wind blows it right open!” As Rocky was voicing his complaints he heard the floor creak and a large flickering shadow appeared on the wall. Roland’s room was barely lit when he was away with only two candles weakly burning.
Suddenly, he saw a girl appear who held a dangerous gleaming dagger. Rocky tried to contact Dustine and discovered that she had been blown out the window.
The girl quietly walked over towards the desk Rocky was resting at and picked up a blueprint that Roland had been working on. Rocky was praying to every single deity that he could think of that the girl does not find any interest in Rocky.
Despite his hopes, the girl picked him up and muttered, “Why is this rock here? Could there be something special about it?”
All of a sudden, the girl quickly put Rocky back on the desk and vanished into thin air while blowing out the candles. The room was left in perpetual darkness and quiet.
Rocky’s head was filled with questions at this point and he heard the door open. A candle was lit and he saw that it was Roland who came in.
Suddenly, the girl reappeared in thin air and held a dagger at Roland’s throat. Roland calmly replied to all the girl’s questions and Rocky discovered that she was a witch called Nightingale. Rocky made a mental note of not offending any witches as their mysterious powers could probably wipe him out of existence as they are all unique.
After a bit, Nightingale asked Roland, “With all your unique ideas and contraptions, what’s with the rock?”
Roland glanced at Rocky, pondering a response. Finally, he said, “Oh, I just treat him as a pet rock I guess.”
Nightingale looked confused and asked, “A pet… rock?”
Rocky felt warm in the heart and thought, “I’m your pet? I won’t ever be abandoned on the side of the road for who knows how long!” If Rocky had a face, he would be going through drastic changes in expression if someone was looking.
He suddenly turned indignant and said, “I have a system! S-Y-S-T-E-M! You’re only lucky you transmigrated into a human!” He continued cursing at Roland mentally, “I’m your pet? You’re my pet! Your whole family is my pet!”
