Roll Land System: Release That Rock - Chapter 7
Rocky laughed at the system’s perfect timing. “Physical evolution of course!”
The Roll-land system gave an affirming beep and Rocky began to undergo a transformation. At this moment, Roland was in the process of handing off Rocky to a worker when Anna tugged at Roland’s sleeve.
Anna asked, “Is it just me or is the rock growing slightly larger?”
Roland observed closely at Rocky and noticed that Rocky was indeed expanding slightly. After two minutes of staring, he discovered that Rocky ended up having a slight bump. Ruining his circularness. Unless they had closely observed Rocky’s transformation they would not have noticed the change.
Rocky said frustratedly to the system, “That’s it? That’s an ‘evolution’? I feel ripped off! Give me back my hard work!”
Anna grabbed Rocky and held him up to her ear. She asked Roland, “Do I have a fever? Did you hear the rock make any sounds?”
Roland shook his head and placed the back of his palm on Anna’s forehead. Anna blushed slightly and Roland shook his head, “Nope. Your temperature is normal.”
Anna muttered, “I was sure that I heard the rock say something.” Anna shook Rocky violently, causing Rocky to feel like crying at this torture. He was screaming in pain at this point, the felt like jumping off a skyscraper and flying up to space in a spaceship back and forth.
Despite the agony of being shaken around, Rocky felt elated and shouted, “Can you hear me?”
Anna nearly dropped the rock in shock as she asked Roland, “Did you hear it this time?”
Roland was stunned as well and said perplexedly, “The rock… squeaked?” Roland took Rocky and shook him violently, saying, “I believe that it only squeaks when you shake it like what you did. Remember how it squeaked when you shook it?”
Rocky yelled in protest, “AAAAHHH! Stop it! Roland! This hurts so much! AAAAHHH!”
Roland smiled and gave Rocky to Anna, “See? My hypothesis seems to be correct. It’s the shaking that makes a noise.” After being shaken so violently by the two, Rocky was dazed and everything was spinning in circles to him.
Anna added in, “Do you think it squeaks more the harder you shake it? I think it does because after you shook it much harder than I did it squeaked more.”
In Rocky’s perspective, Roland gave a bone-chilling smile in response that sent shivers through Rocky’s ‘spine’. Roland nodded and said, “Remember what I mentioned earlier? Test your hypothesis.”
Rocky cried, “Stop! Stop! I surrender already! Don’t shake me anymore! I’m not a lab rat! There are plenty of rats in your room to test on! Don’t bother me!”
What Roland and Anna heard was, “Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeak!”
Roland raised an eyebrow, “Huh. Looks like your hypothesis and mine were off the mark. It can squeak even when it’s not moving.”
Roland rubbed his hand over Rocky and asked Anna, “Why is the rock wet?”
Yep, Rocky had wet himself from the shock of being shaken back and forth repeatedly.
