Rosie Gentleman - Chapter 3
My breath stilled, I looked at Sara dead in the eyes, “now we know what it’s name is, let’s end it here.” My voice surprisingly steady, I was about to end the game when Sara screamed.
“No!”
“The fuck Sara?” My heart beat kept going faster and faster, I was starting to lose my patience. She kept looking at the board, interest dancing in her eyes.
“I want to talk to it.”
“Are you crazy?” I whispered shaking my head, ” Sara, please, lets end it before anything bad happens!” She ignored me as she asked the ghost another question.
” When did you die?”
“Sara!” I snapped. I wasn’t ready to face my death, and I certainly didn’t want that for Sara either. My nose flared in frustration, my eyes squinting at my red haired friend to end this nonsense, I opened my mouth for another lecture, but the planchette suddenly moved, very slowly. I gave a weak breath and gulped, it stopped midway, but then continued.
” 1929, fire..” Sara mumbled out. She looked at me, and I began to see the terrible excitement in her eyes and quivering lips, she giggled again and asked another question, but I intervened, telling the spirit goodbye. I was not in the mood to get haunted tonight, I quickly stuffed the board into the box as I went to close the Ouija board, I heard the angry huff of my dearest friend.
“Your no fun Rosie! I was going to have a paranormal experience!”
I looked back with a frown, and clicked my tongue in anger. There was Sara, my crazy popular friend, who has no control for doing crazy things. I glared at her and took the box, ran outside and grabbed a shovel from her back porch. I started digging the ground until her Sara’s voice from the back porch interrupted me.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m digging a whole.”I murmured, as I buried the Ouija board down into the earth, I relaxed and took a deep breath. I didn’t even realize my heart was beating crazy fast, or that i managed to save my self and my BFF from disaster. I looked back where I dug and quickly turned to Sara.
“Oh my gosh..” I whispered into the night as I rubbed my hands over my face, my fingers rubbing under my eyes. “We could’ve gotten haunted…” I murmured. She looked at me with an exasperated look, She crossed her arms over her chest and growled. I sighed again, analyzing her expression and her impatient foot taps, I knew the look, that phase. She always did that when she didn’t get what she wanted, or when she was upset.
“Rosie! I was having fun!” She raised her high voice, I whispered a silent prayer as I messed with my black hair.
“Sara we’ve watched enough horror films to know what will happen. C’mon, let’s get some ice cream.” As I turned to the house, Sara followed after me and closed the door. I could feel her judging eyes on me as I sunk into the burgundy couch, my eyes closed as I put a hand over my eyes. “Oh my gosh…” I thought as I cringed, “I forgot to ask the spirit for a goodbye…” I opened my eyes and sighed with annoyance. No way in hell, was i going back out there to dig back that piece of shit to say bye bye. My mistake is probably going to bring back a whole lot of horror. My black eyes opened and I looked at Sara and sighed for the hundredth time today.
“Yo, we’re the ice cream at?”
Sara brought over two boxes of ice cream, and we gobbled through them in silence, I whispered to her.
“I forgot to ask for a goodbye from the spirit…”
“So?” She replied casually as she nibbled on her spoon, and scooped out a chunk of ice cream as big as her hand, and shoved it in her mouth, leaving some stains around her lips.
“We could be in for a whole lot of trouble…” I whimpered. Sara grinned at me with her huge hazel eyes, I gulped as her eyes mischievously shone in the lamp light of the living room.
“Don’t worry Rosie posie!” Sara said as she chewed some birthday cake flavor in her mouth.
“Trouble is my last name after all!”
