Royal Lotus - Chapter 12
“Stop right there,” his voice commanded. I stopped in my track. Looking to my side and up, I was met with his piercing glare. “Don’t you think that you’re being too rude? I was kind enough to give you advice-”
“Shut it,” I snapped back, my old villainous ways resurfacing as the little tolerance I had towards him snapped. “You dare to call me rude? Last I checked, you were the one who walked into this shop, made a mess, and insulted the capabilities of Philip. So tell me, who is the one being rude here?”
I could see his form shivering as I released mass amount of power, causing the room temperature to drop greatly. He looked down at me in slight panic, as though not expecting a child like me to be able to release such a sheer amount of power with ease. But as quick as the panic came, it was quickly replaced with resentment. His hand reached towards the sword on his hip. He extended his arm and held the blade against my throat. I could hear Philip and Opal suck in a breath from behind me.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I asked, withdrawing my power as I calmed myself.
“Teaching you a lesson,” he answered. “I pity your parents for having such a misbehaving child like you.”
As angry as I was at his words, I held back and remained emotionless. “Go on,” I taunted. “Kill me. See what happens to you, and to your shop.” I knew very well that he was only using his sword to scare me into crying and begging for forgiveness. Someone like him knew very well that he couldn’t risk harming or killing someone out in the open, especially a child that is of a noble family. By doing so, he would only drag down his own reputation, as well as the reputation of his father and their shop.
“You-” he sneered, drawing his sword even closer to my throat, to the point where I could feel the coldness of the blade.
“Y-young master,” the butler interrupted, “It’s best to stop with your actions, or else your father won’t be too happy.”
He looked back sharply at the butler, not liking the fact that his father was brought into the conversation. However, as much as he wanted to bring me to my knees, he knew that the words carried the truth. Reluctantly, he withdrew his sword and left the store. I scoffed and shook my head. Looking back, I saw that Philip was shaken by the event that just took place.
“I’m okay,” I assured his silent worries before picking up the weapons on the ground and placing them back up. Opal stepped in to help, and as soon as Philip overcame his shock, he hurried to help us put everything back in place.
After saying goodbye to Philip, Opal and I walked around the town as we had time to spare. I enjoyed being able to walk around town without having to worry about whether or not a tomorrow will come. Nor did I have to worry about the gaze of resentful townspeople I had done wrong to. At some point, we stopped by an clothing shop where I picked out two new shawls for myself, and a new outfit for Opal. After we finished, we met up with the usual smiling Draco, and Shelly, who had loads of bags.
As soon as we returned home to the manor, Shelly was soon hurried off to the palace when an messenger arrived and stated that the king wished to see her. I could only guess that she was going to be questioned about her whereabouts at the manor, and about how she was being treated by my mother and I.
(Shelly’s POV)
“Your report?” His majesty asked. I gulped as I stood in his presence. He was truly fit to be a king considering the fact that his presence alone brought shivers down my spine.
“Yes,” I replied. “While the studies are progressing smoothly, I’m losing materials to teach Lady Ice as she shows an incredible amount of intelligence, and already has majority of the knowledge. I’ve already passed the teachings meant for her age, and am now currently halfway through teaching topics meant for those in their first year of their academy. Within a month, I dare say, she’ll finish even the lessons of those in their final year.”
I looked up briefly, enough to see him raise an eyebrow, before looking back down at the palace floor. I felt sweat glide down my face, praying that I didn’t say anything wrong.
“What about her behavior?”
“She doesn’t portray her emotions, and appears to be cold majority of the times. However, she is very considerate towards those around her. There doesn’t appear to be any problems in terms of her behavior affecting her relationships. Though, I have witness her arguing with her mother. I’m not sure what it was specifically, but she appeared to have been lecturing her mother on the rights and wrong. Which is quite outstanding considering her age.”

It was a lie that I didn’t understand what Ice and her mother were talking about. I did partially have an understanding that her mother wanted her to have a higher position. But I could tell that someone like her didn’t want the throne, therefore I chose to act oblivious.
“Very well. Continue the teaching. We will discuss what you’re to teach her after she’s completed the lessons you’ve planned thus far another time. Also, I expect you to pass on the message that I wish to speak to her. Tomorrow, to be precise.”
I nodded, “Yes, your majesty.”
