Royal Lotus - Chapter 13
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared to stand in front of his majesty. Nowadays, whenever I saw him, I would reminded of my past self, and the way he had stared at with such intense hatred before I was exiled. I didn’t want to give someone reasons to hate me as much as he did back then. Of course, who knows how much he may already hate me.
Giving a proper bow, and letting out the formal greeting towards him, I waited to hear what he had to say.
“I’ve heard from your tutor that you’re moving along your studies at a great speed. Therefore, how would you like to move your studies to the castle after two months? Luna also happens to be in need of a study partner, so it would be beneficial to you both.”
I felt myself tense up greatly at his ‘offer’, and wanted to reject it. But it was common knowledge for the citizens that even a simple ‘offer’ from the ruler should not be rejected so easily, as it would be considered an act of humiliation. So, clenching my fist on my dress, I prepared the answer that would satisfy him. “It would be an honour to study alongside Princess Luna.”
It wasn’t as though I hated Luna. She was an amazing and kind individual who did not deserve the evil I committed against her in the past. And most defiantly, was she not an two-faced person like Margret. So studying alongside her was not my concern. I had also done so for a short period of time in my past life as well. Though, it wasn’t when I was five like I am now.
However, it was the idea of being under the watch of those in the castle, especially under his majesty. I know his majesty can easily send spies or guards even when I’m out of the castle as well, but because I was a child he never wished for, there was no reason for him to watch over me when I was outside. And perhaps, I was being paranoid with the possibilities of him having people watch me. But as an illegitimate child, it was common for there to be concerns about what I may do to full-blood children like Luna, so I couldn’t stop being caution.
“Very well. In two months, you shall be expected in the castle every second day, and fourth day,” his majesty instructed.
“I understand,” I responded, gazing down at the floor. A silence embedded the air as I waited for him to dismiss me. Realizing that he did not have the intention to speak anytime soon, I let myself peek at him. My dark brown eyes was met with his blazing red ones. The very ones I used to wish would look down at me in fondness.
Snapping out of my wondering mind, I cursed at myself silently for looking up at him. He probably felt disgusted to have met with my eyes. They were, after all, colored after my mothers’. Much like my hair and skin tone.

“You…” he started. I felt sweat build up, and my nerves go crazy at the anxiety of what he might say. I wasn’t a coward. No. I, Ice Juntasa, was nowhere near a coward. However, his majesty was an existence I could not afford to go against. Especially not now. With a single word, and my life could end. No one would want that, not when they were given a rare second chance.
“You may go.”
I let out a small breath of relief, which I didn’t realize I was holding, at his answer. Not noticing the unusual expression on his face, I was quick to leave.
