- Chapter 470: Fifth World: A Professional Pick Pocket
Wen Qinxi almost had a heart attack seeing that ginormous chimera wrecking havoc in the Zhao sect. Its presence had attracted a lot of nascent soul cultivators from other sects but even in the presence of such powerful people, it was pointless. The creature was just too formidable bringing the cultivators to their knees. The once beautiful landscape was chaotic with ruined buildings and blood splatter everywhere. The disciples and elders were doing everything to fight this unholy beast but they were basically stalling for time.
From this angle, he could see Qie Ranzhe, Machu, Dai Yu and Shao Lan fighting alongside the elders and sect leaders to restrain the vile creature.
Everything about it was hair raising. Its sharp canines on the lion head had blood dripping down as it bellowed causing an earth tremor. One would assume the goat head protruding on its back would be less intimidating when compared to the lion and snakehead but that wasn’t necessarily true.
The goat head was equally terrifying with an ugly enough appearance to scare a sleeping baby. Its jaundice like yellow eyes made Wen Qinxi’s skin tingly and tight with goosebumps. But he would rather look at that than the snakehead that was striking at the cultivators with its mouth wide open showing its long fangs.
“When he wakes up I am going to slap him. I want to smack that weird imagination of his out of his head,” said Wen Qinxi to the system. He couldn’t help but wonder why Qie Ranzhe wouldn’t think up a fluffy unicorn or better yet a pegasus.
Instead, he conjured up such a terrible creature making Wen Qinxi’s job extremely difficult. Even J.K. Rowling couldn’t conjure up such a terrifying creature in her bestselling novels but this CEO had to come up with this heaven-defying existence for this nerd to deal with.
“Ha! Fluffy unicorn? That would seriously ruin his reputation. I bet you will laugh at him each time you see him,” explained the system feeling rather amused by Wen Qinxi’s statement. A chimera made more sense clearly demonstrating how messed up Qie Ranzhe’s brain was.
Just as Wen Qinxi unsheathed magic frost, Qie Xieling showed up out of nowhere and pulled him into a teleportation portal without thinking much. Wen Qinxi was dragged back into Zhao Zhi’s home that he lived in the Zhao sect. “Shi-shixiong!” he called out while bending down to catch his breath. It was as though he had been running a marathon from the way he was breathing heavy.
He placed his hand on Zhao Zhi’s shoulder with his other hand on his waist like a heavily pregnant woman. Exhaling deeply he said, “Yo-you can’t go there. It’s too dangerous.”
‘Okay, he is definitely my son,’ thought Wen Qinxi before taking his hand leading him to sit down. He would love to hide indoors with his little cutie but this was the final stage for this world. If that boss of his dies then he would have to go through the ghosts, monks and worse of all the horrid creature wreaking havoc outside again. There was no way in hell he was going to let that happen so he had to toughen up and face the danger head-on.
He just had to make sure Qie Xieling understood that dad had to go. “I can’t let your father fight on his own so be good and stay here, okay?” said Wen Qinxi stroking Qie Xieling’s long hair.
Qie Xieling didn’t seem to easily accept Zhao Zhi’s words changing his tune drastically. “Then I will go with you. Shixiong, let me go with you,” with his lips pouted looking rather pitiful.
But even his puppy dog eyes couldn’t convince Wen Qinxi to bring him along. If anything happens to him it could also count as failure and he wouldn’t want to experience the feeling of losing Qie Xieling.
“Be obedient and I will be right back, okay? Just stay here,” he said as he embraced Qie Xieling before making his exit. Qie Xieling could feel there was more to this hug making him anxious. He wanted to follow but a security barrier was placed on the property.
In a panic he touched his side to find his interspatial bag intending to take out a talisman that could help him break out of there only to find out that Zhao Zhi had another talent which was a professional pickpocket. His interspatial bag was robbed when he was being embraced and he easily fell for it like a naive idiot.
“Damn it,” he said to himself kicking one of the canopy bed’s legs but it seemed he used a little force because he ended up stubbing his toe. Feeling aggrieved he hopped on one leg grimacing with an irritating sting in his eyes from the pain.
Wen Qinxi naturally didn’t know about this placing Qie Xieling’s interspatial bag on the doorknob outside. The barrier would take itself down after eight hours which was hopefully enough time to take down that beast or decide to retreat.
Wen Qinxi was just in time to find Miyu Ren hovering above them like a king in haughty laughter. He truly found pleasure in their misfortune taunting them to no end.
Qie Ranzhe was so pissed off that he flung one of the rings which locked on its target cutting Miyu Ren’s arm. Shocked, Miyu Ren eyed him in bewilderment with his hand covering his wound. His sleeve and hand were soon soaked in black blood from the deep cut.
“You dare!” he yelled at Qie Ranzhe with his bloodshot eyes his chest heaving up and down in anger. A man like Qie Ranzhe wasn’t easy to control and he knew that but he was so determined to get him.
He wouldn’t want to take things as far as turning Qie Ranzhe into a puppet. He hoped to have Qie Ranzhe join his cause willingly but the likelihood of that happening was extremely low. This left the demon king with no choice but to consider the extreme method.
Qie Ranzhe caught his ring that boomeranged back to his side with a blazing flame. He was about to attack Miyu Ren once more but he was attacked by the snakehead with its venomous fangs aiming for his leg.
His expression didn’t change but as he was about to effortlessly dodged the attack he was suddenly pulled by the arm with his body slamming into something comfortable and warm.
Zhao Zhi had his arm around his waist pulling him close into an ambiguous posture that left one questioning their relationship. Not only that but Zhao Zhi whispered in his ear saying, “Why are you so clumsy?” with his warm breath brushing against his skin giving off a tingly sensation.
