- Chapter 474: Fifth World: Lin Lin To The Rescue
The saying life is not a bed of roses is sad but true. Wen Qinxi had already fought off ghosts, the undead, a legendary creature and a cunning demon king only to be derailed by this vile woman. He couldn’t believe it with the light in his eyes fading.
His body lay sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood with his face growing paler and paler by the minute. The pain made his brain numb void of any thoughts. He couldn’t even hear what Jolie was saying to him as his life flashed before his eyes.
Qie Xieling called out to his Shixiong his body trembling in shock. His eyes reddened as his tears flowed uncontrollably. He broke free from Miyu Ren’s hold and rushed over to his Shixiong. Maybe it was because the demon king’s hold had loosened or a sudden rush of adrenaline that gave Qie Xieling the chance to escape. He knelt in front of his Shixiong and shakily stretched out his hands to touch Zhao Zhi’s cheeks.
A warm drop of his tear landed on his finger as he hesitantly placed his hands on Zhao Zhi’s pale face. Miyu Ren rolled his eyes pretty much sick of this soapy scene and proceeded to grab Qie Xieling’s elbow to drag him away and make his escape but what happened next was completely unexpected.
Qie Xieling broke away from his grasp as an ominous white light gathered in his palm. A powerful beam of light shot out of his hand suddenly sending the demon king flying. Miyu Ren was driven straight into a wall as he spat out a mouthful of blood.
The word shock was well written on his face as his body slid down to the ground. He placed his hand on his abdomen grimacing in pain as he tried to get up. He couldn’t believe he had been beaten down by a kid who still had milk coming out of his nose. Miyu Ren tried to get up a few more times but he failed miserably.
Meanwhile, Qie Xieling gently touched his shixiong’s face as though afraid to hurt him. His eyes shifted to the wound as he recalled how his grandmother healed his swollen cheek before. He looked down at his trembling hands with his blurry eyes brimming with emotion.
Without thinking much he decided to tap into uncharted territory and see if he can heal his Shixiong. He frustratedly tried to jumpstart his unawakened power which proved difficult but he didn’t give up.
All this fell into Zhao Huangzhi’s line of sight. She had initially wanted to leave as her goal had been achieved but when she saw Qie Xieling crying like he had a lost someone important she couldn’t help but be curious. She had a slight inkling that their relationship wasn’t as simple as it seemed and it was this exact line of thought that she used as an excuse to Qie Ranzhe a few minutes later.
What happened next had her vexed. It wasn’t a well-kept secret that Qie Xieling was a wastrel who couldn’t cultivate to save his life but at this moment the rumours were debunked. The kid could not only cultivate but his strength was powerful enough to knock out a demon king. This realization had her emotions caught up in turmoil.
She wanted to stay out of it but when she saw him trying to heal Zhao Zhi, she snapped. Zhao Huangzhi reached out to stop Qie Xieling from undoing what she had done but her body was suddenly pushed by a force powerful enough to shatter bone.
Zhao Huangzhi barely had enough time to react when she was struck again but this time she was hit right in the face with a backhanded slap that had her falling straight into an overturned table. Her spine landed directly onto the leg of the table most likely breaking something in her body.
“She, she stabbed Shixiong,” said Qie Xieling in a brittle voice as he struggled to focus.
Qie Ranzhe knelt on one knee in front of Zhao Zhi his eyes unable to conceal the distress that was spilling out. He reached out with his blood-stained fingers to touch his lover’s face but he retracted them when he realised his hands were dirty.
He clenched the hilt of black calamity trembling in anger. He felt his heart twist in excruciating pain as he shifted his vicious glare at the culprit.
Zhao Huangzhi was just in time to meet that gaze as she sat up straight. Her heart jolted as her face turned ashen. She crawled backwards in fright while occasionally waving her hand attempting to explain herself.
Her dress stuck to her back from all the cold sweat. “I, I….. I had to. He was taking advantage of your son. He is a pedi-….. argh…. ah…. argh,” she said before her throat was grabbed into a suffocating grip.
Her excuse proved pointless at this moment as her life was being choked out of her. She tried to plead with him but the only sounds coming from her were choking coupled with grunting and groaning noises.
All the while Qie Ranzhe was staring straight into her eyes with a murderous aura surrounding him. He was about to snap her neck and end her when he heard a coughing sound coupled with Qie Xieling’s elated voice.
He turned his head only to find the man who had been lying limply on the floor attempt to sit up straight. Some colour had returned to his face as Qie Xieling embraced him crying like an abandoned child.
Zhao Zhi patted Qie Xieling’s back while smiling at Qie Ranzhe making this sect leader’s heart leap out of his chest. He flung Zhao Huangzhi’s body to the side not caring where she landed and strode over before half kneeling in front of his lover.
He had a lot to say but at this moment he couldn’t find the right words. He just stared and stared and stared at him with his heart palpitating as fast as a bullet train. Qie Ranzhe wanted to hold him but Qie Xieling was hogging all the space that he could barely fit in anywhere.
That is when Shao Lan, Dai Yu and Machu showed up crowding at the door. Their gaze fell on the chaotic room and felt speechless. Machu grinned maliciously when he saw Miyu Ren. He badly wanted to prove himself and slaughter the demon king especially after all that shit he had been through. He entered the room after pushing Shao Lan out of the way but Shao Lan could read his mind.
He grabbed Machu’s elbow and muttered, “I think sect leader Qie would personally like to deal with him. And as for you…. I think you need to prove yourself after Mingxia pulled a fast one on you,” pointing at Zhao Huangzhi who was trying to crawl away to the back door.
