Saving the overbearing CEO - Chapter 494
There is nothing as vexing as waking up from a deep sleep and not recalling what happened the day before. This is usually called a blackout after a night of partying a little too much. But for Qie Ranzhe this was more than a blackout. He had an approximately five months gap where he had zero memory of the shit he had done.
Everyone had been speaking in riddles to him about what happened so he left the company and went to his apartment a few blocks away. He was in such a hurry that he didn’t bother using his driver. All the security officer guarding the underground parking saw was a black SUV speeding out of the parking area with his boss in the driver’s seat.
His decision to go to his apartment was a wise one. If he went to his family home there was no guarantee his mother wouldn’t disturb him. He took off his shoes at the door and put on his slippers.
The apartment was the same as before screaming bachelor all the way. Despite having not stepped foot into it for months it was spotless. It seemed his mother had been taking care of the place in his absence.
He connected the portable device to his flat-screen TV and pressed play as he strode over to the kitchen to make a cup of black coffee. Because it was an open-plan setting he could hear everything from the kitchen.
At the beginning of the footage, everything seemed fine harmless even but things shifted gears from zero to a hundred making him spit out a mouthful of coffee. He had intentionally sped up the video otherwise he would be here all year round.
Who would have thought he would see himself standing in a wooden tub stark naked showing off to Wen Qinxi slash Lin Jingxie as soon as he pressed play. The innocent pursuit had changed to something else after that.
He soon ditched the cup of coffee for a bottle of wine by midday. Coffee wasn’t doing the trick anymore especially in the second world. A sour taste rose in his throat but it wasn’t the wine. It was something else, something more suffocating.
Especially when Wen Qinxi looked at his other self with such affectionate eyes when he said he loved him. The sourness was temporarily suppressed when the steamy scenes resurfaced. Lucky for him, Machu’s care package had arrived making things very convenient.
He couldn’t hold back the desire from watching Wen Qinxi pant below him. Especially after watching the scene where they had sex in space. The loved the way he pressed Wen Qinxi’s body against the floor to ceiling window with the man’s legs wrapped around his waist as he drilled into him like a ferocious beast.
He could now understand why people make sex tapes. It is the world’s greatest aphrodisiac. It was because of this that this man didn’t step out of his apartment for three days straight. He wasn’t taking calls neither was he answering the door. His mother even thought he was dead that she had to get Machu to check on him.
He even wouldn’t let Machu in that is until he lied that Wen Qinxi left a message for him. The door was opened in an instant but when he saw how haggard Qie Ranzhe looked he felt like running to save his life.
Let’s put it this way. Machu had been friends with Qie Ranzhe for more or less fifteen years but he had never seen him this haggard. He was dressed in slacks, long sleeve and a morning gown at two in the afternoon. This version of Qie Ranzhe was unheard of. His hair was a mess and he looked like he hadn’t slept well for days. Machu suddenly regretted urging him to watch what happened in the game.
“What did he say? I can’t get through to him even when I used a burner it’s his younger brother who answered. I think he blacklisted me,” said Qie Ranzhe as he slumped on the couch feeling rather depressed.
Machu nervously walked into the apartment afraid to see something he shouldn’t see but everything seemed normal. The owner of the apartment looked haggard but the apartment itself was spotless. It seemed Qie Ranzhe’s OCD wasn’t affected by his mood. He even started questioning whether Qie Ranzhe’s exhaustion was due to cleaning or self-gratification?
“Well, I lied but wait, wait, wait….. before you get angry,” he said taking a few steps backwards when he caught sight of that death glare, “he is coming back in two days. The only way you can see him is if you go back to work, right? So how about you stop being a hermit and go back to work?”
Qie Ranzhe knew he was right but all he could think about was Wen Qinxi. There was no one word to accurately describe how he was feeling these past few days. He was mad, mad at himself for putting Gecko through so much. His first love was forced to die, watch him die, being shot by him and fight ghosts. How could he not be upset with himself after that?
He was guilt-ridden, ashamed, heartbroken and sad giving him insomnia. He wanted to call Wen Qinxi and apologize for putting him through so much but the longer he couldn’t get through to him the more unstable his emotions became.
Such was what Qie Ranzhe was going through these past few days. But Machu was right. He had to get back to work and hopefully Wen Qinxi will be willing to talk to him after he comes back.
Qie Ranzhe ran his fingers through his hair as he stood up saying, “You are right about that. Thanks.”
“Oh….. that’s good and since you um decided to go back to work there is a….. um, tiny problem,” replied Machu showing the screen of his cellphone with a news site opened, “This is why people have been trying to reach you.”
Qie Ranzhe’s brows creased as he read the news. “Fuck!” he swore itching to kill someone.
Wen Qinxi naturally had no idea something was going on online mainly because his brother had a new hobby. That is adopting his cellphone without his permission. And they both seemed in on it because his mother would berate him saying, “Looking at that screen all day will hurt your eyes,” or, “Honey, you don’t need your phone. We are here to help you get over that bitch.”
Meanwhile, she would be on her cellphone uploading their pictures on Weibo with the caption ‘looking for a daughter in law’ #singleandlooking.
Besides all that, he had to admit the holiday was incredibly relaxing. One could tell from the way he was swaggering out of the airport with his suitcase in hand. He naively believed this good space would stay with him till Monday but boy was he wrong.
A casual glance at the gigantic screen in the airport almost made him trip on himself. He took off his sunglasses thinking maybe something was wrong with his eyes but reality slapped him across the face like a heartless bastard.
Wen Danzhe had been busy trying to get his mother away from the duty-free liquor store that he didn’t notice when his brother was abducted. Okay, abducted is a little strong so let’s say swept away. By the time he turned around Wen Qinxi was gone.
He raised his brow wondering how he could have lost a grown man that is when his gaze fell on the current news playing on TV. “Damnit,” he mumbled already realising who could have possibly taken his brother.
