Saving the overbearing CEO - Chapter 497
When a prideful person like Qie Anzhie experienced such a grievance he couldn’t let his older brother get away with it. It wasn’t hard for him finding out what happened to Qie Ranzhe these past few months.
If he had known earlier while his brother was still stuck in the game, he would have told his father to use the excuse that Qie Ranzhe was incapacitated in order to take over GameX and absorb it into the Qie family empire. It was such a shame that he only found out after his brother woke up.
The only other way he could retaliate was to splash dirty water on GameX’s technology and slowly sink the ship. His plan seemed to work as it had caught his father’s attention which is why he was being called to the old man’s office.
He gently knocked on the door before entering his father’s office. The old man was sitting on his desk watching the news that was playing Qie Ranzhe’s press conference. Qie Anzhie snorted coldly as he unbuttoned his suit jacket before settling down.
His father didn’t turn to face him with his hand on his chin his gaze fixated on the screen. No one could tell what he was thinking at this moment but Qie Anzhie wasn’t worried.
It was only after the press conference ended did the old man switch off the screen and faced his second son. “This was your doing?” asked Mr Qie going straight to the point. He understood that Qie Anzhie was impulsive which wasn’t a good trait in running a business but this short coming wasn’t a big deal because he was still around to clean up after him that is until now.
He knew Qie Ranzhe was far superior to himself and Qie Anzhie. This was one of the reasons he divorced Qie Ranzhe’s mother. It was to vex Qie Ranzhe especially since elder Qie had rewritten his will appointing Qie Ranzhe as his successor. Which father would want his son to boss him around?
So he swapped out the wills when the old man died. To stop Qie Ranzhe from ever finding out the truth he appointed Qie Anzhie as his successor and planned for his eldest son to mentor him but of course, his plan failed.
When Qie Ranzhe walked out on him he tried to suppress the boy but it’s a well-known fact that one can’t suppress greatness. Qie Ranzhe outshone them even after being thrown out with no backing. Now that their profit margins were taking a nosedive, Mr Qie had a change of heart. He planned to compel Qie Ranzhe to come back home and work for the family which is why he called Qie Anzhie here.
Qie Anzhie slightly raised his brow as he replied, “Mn… I have someone on the inside. They will give me classified documentation on Flagship tomorrow.” Judging from his attitude you could tell he felt so smug but that smugness was soon wiped off his face by his father’s next words.
“Good…. hand them over to me tomorrow. Its black material to have Qie Ranzhe come back to the family business,” replied Mr Qie as he leaned back in his chair lighting a cigar.
“Wait…. what?” said an astonished Qie Anzhie feeling like he was going to explode then and there. This wasn’t his intention when he had that Ba Gua steal GameX’s classified documents. He wanted to bring down his brother’s company as soon as they launched Flagship. Such a flawless plan was being hijacked by his father to bring his older brother back to the company. Of course, he wasn’t going to let that happen.
“You heard me….. if you weren’t so useless would I bother to bring him back? Tsk, such a disappointment,” said Mr Qie before blowing out rings of smoke.
Qie Anzhie clenched his fist with his veins bulging on the side of his neck as he suppressed his anger. A mix of ugly feelings rose to his throat suffocating him. Like a cockroach, his older brother was hard to get rid of. A constant threat that wasn’t easy to kill. It seemed he would have to implore even darker methods to eliminate the threat.

While others were resting after a long day at work, a group of men in a deserted neighbourhood were surrounding a battered man who was crying for dear life. This person was none other than Ba Gua, the man who was brazen enough to leak information about Qie Ranzhe’s whereabouts these past months.
Not only did he disclose information he had no business mentioning but he also tried to break into the gaming room by spoofing Wen Qinxi’s identity card but he had seriously underestimated the amount of security invested in GameX.
Blame him for his incompetence that landed him in this exact situation. He had been caught red-handed as soon as he stepped out of the elevator and brought to this place.
The security team wasn’t friendly in the least beating him till he sold out his backer but even then Ba Gua still wouldn’t talk. That is until the man of the hour showed up in person.
Qie Ranzhe expected the snitch to make his move after the rumours were spread. He was sure the culprit would be waiting for Wen Qinxi to get back to the company so they could frame him for the leaked documents and that’s exactly what happened.
If it was just the attempt to steal company secrets he would have dragged the man to the police station end of the story. But this man dared to frame Wen Qinxi which meant he wouldn’t let him off.
The beating Ba Gua was receiving was not for a confession because Qie Ranzhe already knew who had the balls to mess with him. This beating was for screwing with his sweetheart.
He ambled into the room while taking off his suit jacket which he handed over to one of his bodyguards. The room descended into silence with the only sound coming from Qie Ranzhe’s formal shoes stepping on the concrete floor. He languidly rolled up his sleeves before kicking Ba Gua who was playing dead like a possum on the ground.
“I am giving you two choices. One…. tell me what beef you have with Wen Qinxi and the sentence would be lighter or two….. you don’t tell me and I will make your death look like an accident. Your choice,” suggested Qie Ranzhe with his body surrounded by an oppressive air that had Ba Gua dropping his act in an instant.
He thought the man would ask who sent him but it turns out Qie Ranzhe wasn’t interested in that at all. His life-saving grace turned out to be nothing.
He had made up his mind to divulge who sent him as an exchange for his life but Qie Ranzhe wasn’t interested. Instead, Qie Ranzhe wanted to know why he wanted to frame Wen Qinxi. As expected, one can’t provoke a kept man.
