Saving the overbearing CEO - Chapter 521
She was a major fujoshi since high school and loved it when his cousin fawned over his little shou but of course, things didn’t work out.
It was never her place to speak out of turn and try to convince him not to give up because once her cousin made up his mind then no one else could change it. Her woman’s intuition told her that something was off about Zhao Huangzhi and she did mention it but Qie Ranzhe didn’t listen.
She wanted to have an I told you so moment but when she heard that it was Wen Qinxi who saved her cousin from Flagship she forgot about gloating and started shipping them instead.
Wen Qinxi who had been sniffed visibly stiffened but he didn’t need to worry for long because Qie Ranzhe came to the rescue peeling Dai Yu off Wen Qinxi.
He wrapped his arm around Wen Qinxi’s shoulder and said, “If you want to hug someone go hug your husband,” pointing at Shao Lan who was wearing an ugly expression, “you can’t let him race like that otherwise he will lose.”
As soon as she turned her face to Shao Lan she immediately forgot about Wen Qinxi. She darted in his direction before jumping into his arms with her legs wrapped around Shao Lan’s waist. The two shamelessly made out in public with Shao Lan’s hands cupping his wife’s ass like they were at home.
Wen Qinxi looked away in embarrassment which Qie Ranzhe noticed. He had a sudden urge to tease this timid boyfriend of his saying, “Can I kiss you too?” with a grin on his face.
Wen Qinxi didn’t hesitate to push him away feeling rather bashful. If Qie Ranzhe really kissed him in public he would die of shame. “Just one kiss come on….. It doesn’t have to be on the lips,” said Qie Ranzhe trying to convince Wen Qinxi to kiss him but of course, there was no way he would get his way in public.
“You can kiss me when…,” he replied but he was cut off when he heard a familiar milky voice calling out,
“Ran Ran, what a coincidence.”
This voice that made Wen Qinxi gag just by hearing it belonged to none other than Kai Zi. He knew Kai Zheng was real but it never crossed his mind that Kai Zi would also be real and based on his method of address to Qie Ranzhe they seemed to have a good relationship.
And what was up with this Ran Ran nickname? It sounded so coquettish making Wen Qinxi want to vomit. He wasn’t happy at all.
“What are you doing here?” asked Qie Ranzhe in a cold icy tone recalling the events in the fourth world. He didn’t know if Kai Zi liked him but to be on the safe side he decided to distance himself and appease his sweetheart. As he asked this he held Wen Qinxi’s hand interlocking their fingers together.
Kai Zi’s gaze swept over their hands held together and the smile on his face stiffened. “I came with my brother….. and who is this? We haven’t met before?” he asked looking at Wen Qinxi like he had stolen something from him.
“This is Wen Qinxi… my boyfriend,” he said trying to coax Wen Qinxi who was silently eating vinegar on the side.
Kai Zi’s heart jolt at his words. From what he knew Qie Ranzhe was as straight as a steel pipe. What boyfriend? This guy was obviously preparing to propose to Zhao Huangzhi a couple of months ago so where did this so-called boyfriend come from. If he had known Qie Ranzhe was this open-minded would he have kept his mouth shut over the years?
He came out of the closet years ago and stuck to Qie Ranzhe like glue in university but this man never showed any form of interest. No amount of flirting roused Qie Ranzhe’s interest. Thinking he was straight and wholely devoted to his girlfriend, he gave up but it turned out the man wasn’t straight after all.
“It’s a pleasure meeting you,” replied Kai Zi but his words weren’t sincere. He was doing a horrible job at hiding his feelings. “Ran Ran, can I discuss some business with you…. alone. It’s very important,” he continued to say as his gaze shifted to Qie Ranzhe. His expression had obviously changed to a radiant glow.
One might say not to read too much into it but Wen Qinxi with his low EQ could tell Kai Zi’s interest in Qie Ranzhe extended beyond flagship. He felt like hitting someone but held himself back telling himself not to act rashly.
“If it’s about your brother participating in Flagship’s trial then we have nothing to discuss and also please stop calling me Ran Ran, we aren’t kids anymore,” he said with a stern look on his face like there was no room for negotiation.
Kai Zi felt like he had taken a stab straight to his heart but didn’t show it on his face. “Okay Ran-ge, I won’t call you that in the future but we do need to discuss something important. Can I have a little of your time, please,” replied Kai Zi feeling rather desperate at this point. Not only did he discover that his crush wasn’t straight but he also discovered that the man had a lover all in one day. He had to hold on to something otherwise he would lose it.
“What is it? Anything you want to say you can say in front of him,” said Qie Ranzhe clearly stating his position which didn’t settle well with Kai Zi.
Wen Qinxi wanted to stay by Qie Ranzhe’s side but he couldn’t stand Kai Zi’s face so he decided to give them some space. He couldn’t trust himself around Kai Zi as the urge to punch him grew stronger the longer he stayed.
“You guys talk and I will go watch Dai Yu,” he said before turning to leave but Qie Ranzhe wouldn’t let go of his hand. Wen Qinxi turned around to face him and showed a self-deprecating smile. “Don’t make trouble, I will be standing there,” said Wen Qinxi trying to put Qie Ranzhe’s mind at ease.
It was only then that Qie Ranzhe let him go but from his expression, one could easily tell he was losing his patients. “You have five minutes,” said Qie Ranzhe with his gaze constantly glancing over in Wen Qinxi’s direction. He just wanted this conversation over and done with.
Kai Zi was a little happy when he got rid of this third wheel who took his seat on the throne but his celebration was cut short when he saw the look of impatience on Qie Ranzhe’s face. It seemed to win this guy over he would need external help otherwise he might as well give up
