Saving the overbearing CEO - Chapter 525
Maybe it was something he couldn’t speak about to his mother which is why he decided to come to her. Her motherly instincts kicked in ready to listen. The two of them drank a few glasses and sure enough, Qie Ranzhe felt a sense of ease.
He could easily win the hearts of the older generation but he felt so nervous mostly because this was Wen Qinxi’s mother.
“I….. ahem….. about the person I am dating. It’s your son and I have liked him since high school,” he came out with it rubbing his sweaty palms on his pants. How was he supposed to tell a parent that they won’t possibly have a grandchild all because of him?
Mama Wen froze in place like she had been dunked in a barrel of liquid nitrogen. She slowly swallowed the liquor in her mouth as it finally dawned on her. Flat chest and packing down south? If he was talking about a guy then the packing down south could be referring to the gun, not the rear end.
“Oh shit!….. oh shittt. Oh god….. no way,” she said as her expression turned to that of complete and utter shock. Qie Ranzhe was about to say something but Mama Wen lifted her index finger as a gesture for him to hold on for a damn minute.
She took two more shots from the diminutive glasses. It had to be her son’s fault, right? He must be the one who pursued Qie Ranzhe in the first place. She had convinced herself over the past years that Wen Qinxi was just good at hiding his love interests but it turned out that brat was only good at hiding in the closet. The only thing he was hiding was himself.
“That little brat….. argh!….. I should have seen this coming. You know I knew every one of Dan-er’s shenanigans. He would hide it but I would eventually find out but Qinxi…,” she said before downing another shot, “he was as clean as a whistle. There was nothing. No nude magazines, no girls standing with him outside the school gates after school. Even in university, he wouldn’t spend time on his cell phone chatting for hours. How did I not, not see it? I started thinking he was shy and had a hard time talking to girls.”
Qie Ranzhe let her finish speaking but he had to defend his lover. He didn’t know why Wen Qinxi was single for all those years but he highly doubted that it was because he was interested in the same sex.
“Auntie, you misunderstand. I liked him since high school but he didn’t even notice me. I am pretty sure if….. if I had confessed my feelings in high school, he would have rejected me. I was the one who pursued him when he rescued me from Flagship,” he explained with his mood turning sullen with each sentence or maybe it was the booze kicking in that made him feel this way.
Mama Wen listened to this man’s honest confession dumbstricken to the point of overfilling her glass with liquor. Qie Ranzhe had to stop her before she emptied the entire bottle on the table. He pointed at the bottle effectively drawing her out of her trance.
She slammed the bottle on the table with a loud bam and stood up to grab something from the kitchen drawer. “So you, hahaha…. you are telling me that you are the one who liked him… since high school?” she said fumbling through the kitchen drawers in search of something.
She pulled out a cleaver knife which made a loud shing sound as it scraped past the drawer door.
Qie Ranzhe’s eyes widened thinking this lady was going to hack him to death for bending her son.
He instantly sobered up holding his breath but relaxed when he saw her putting it down.
Just as he exhaled, she took out a meat mallet and spun it around a couple of times making Qie Ranzhe’s heart go into panic mode.
Was he going to be bludgeoned to death by her? He was about to stand up and sneak out while she wasn’t looking when she placed the instrument back into the drawer.
She opened the bottom drawer and her expression changed like she had found what she was looking for. Not certain of what was going to happen next, Qie Ranzhe remained vigilant with his overactive imagination running rampant. Just when he thought she would pull up an axe from that drawer to chop him to death she took out a blue album written sweet memories.
She hurriedly sat down and flipped through it before taking out a picture day photo of Wen Qinxi. “So…. so you are telling me that you, you liked this version of Ah-Qi in high school? This version….. you liked it?” she said lifting the picture for him to take a closer look.
She loved her son and all but even she knew the likelihood of him attracting anyone in high school was zero yet here was a handsome man from a prestigious family saying that he fell head over heels for a less attractive version of her son.
“Yes, I did,” replied Qie Ranzhe staring at that picture with a tender filled gaze.
“Seriously?” she asked as she turned the picture in her direction. Were they seeing the same thing? Were they looking at the same picture?
Mama Wen was obviously tipsy otherwise she would have sugar-coated the situation but apparently, Qie Ranzhe didn’t seem to care. He was resolute in his answer nodding his head, “Yes, he was my first love.”
“Wow….. just wow,” replied a dumbfounded Mama Wen before taking another shot, “then it must be true love. I fuckin have nothing left to say… hahaha… it’s true love.”
“May I?” said Qie Ranzhe asking for the picture. He didn’t have any more pictures of Wen Qinxi in high school and would love to keep this one. Mama Wen passed the photo over while observing him seriously.
This was an incredibly strange phenomenon. Her son had managed to enchant a man to an extent well beyond the norm. How was she supposed to explain to the Wen family ancestors when she dies?
While Mama Wen was questioning Qie Ranzhe’s eyesight, Wen Qinxi was busy playing games at his apartment. He had tried calling Qie Ranzhe five times but the man never picked up. He decided to wait for him at the apartment but the clock struck 7 pm and he was nowhere in sight.
In fact, it was Wen Danzhe who came back home first. Wen Qinxi took off his headsets and asked, “Why are you here again? Aren’t you sleeping at your dorm room?”
“As long as he’s here and hasn’t done what we discussed I will be staying here. I will be here for as long as it takes,” replied Wen Danzhe in an imperative tone like there would be no compromise.
